Towards Quality of Life in Construction Industry: Identification of employee turnover antecedents
Get PDFAmong the approaches to improve employee's life quality is through the balance of the work-life that connected to the high turnover. A systematic literature review offers an overview of the present state of research concerning the turnover antecedents in the construction industry. Based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses, three main themes of employee turnover antecedents are identified, namely: organisation, individual, and external antecedent. Two recommendations are made, including the development of life quality strategy and to conduct more employee turnover. Identification of adverse outcomes of turnover assists in improving employees life quality in the construction industry

The second objective is to identify effective Daylighting design strategies from the Colonial Mosques in Malaysia. The triangular research methodology was applied for this study. The research methodology consists of literature review, field observation, and Daylighting analysis simulation with Sefaira simulation software. In conclusion, window heights influence the Daylighting performance of the main prayer hall. Higher windows give more effective Daylighting

The research will determine factors impacting workers' housing decisions in the Ho Chi Minh City industrial zone through in-depth interviews, exploratory factor analysis, and multiple regression methods. Get PDFIn high-density Asian cities, the increasing scarcity of public open spaces gives rise to the need for stationary activities to tap into spaces originally conceived exclusively to channel pedestrian movements, such as grade separation pedestrian systems. However, the types and patterns of stationary activities on elevated walkways remain mostly unexplored. This study focuses on Hong Kong, wherein the scarcity of public open space characterises an extreme condition and where the burden of this scarcity falls most heavily on disadvantaged social groups, such as migrant workers. Coping Skills and Burnout among Medical Officers in a Malaysian Tertiary Hospital
Get PDFBurnout among doctors is hazardous, leading to stress which results in poor decision making and exposure to medical errors. This study aims to improve the knowledge gap of the issues of burnout and coping skills among medical officers. This study is a cross-sectional study involving 250 medical officers using universal sampling. Of the total 250 participants, 63 (25.2%) were burnout. The presence of burnout was significantly associated with dysfunctional coping skills (t=-4.96; p <0.001). Burnout is prevalent among medical officers. It is vital to take actions that can promote good mental health in the form of coping skills and resilience training

Technical Tours as Special Interest Tourism in the Urban Context: A case study of Kuala Lumpur
Get PDFStudies on Special Interest Tourism (SIT) have gained an increasing attention within the last decade. This article examined the potentials of attractions in Kuala Lumpur that can attract built environment professionals as a niche group of tourists. Based on analysing secondary data sourced from technical tours, tour packages and attractions promoted by different agencies, this study mapped, tabulated and examined existing buildings and sites with their unique characteristics. 58 buildings and sites showed potentials as tourism attractions for built environment professionals through technical tours. A customised experience can be high-yield as they are tailor-made to special interest tourists
Motivations of Managers in Relation to Previous Experiences on Citizen-based Community Spaces
Get PDFCitizen-based Community Space (CS) is facing the continuity issues from a lack of human resources and the aging of managers. This study intends to clarify the relationship between the background experience of CS managers and their motivation for CS and consider how future participants can contribute to that. With the cooperation of 12 CSs created by Yokohama City's public subsidy, we interviewed 28 survey respondents who have worked as managers at them. As a result, five types of motivations for CS and five types of backgrounds are identified. The various relationship between motivation and background suggests the possibility of finding potential managers
Factors for Effective Repair and Maintenance Services in the Housing Industry: A systematic literature review
Get PDFMost of the residents in high-rise housing do not realise the importance of proper building management until the physical buildings and shared facilities have deteriorated. Accordingly, this paper identified the factors for effective repair and maintenance services in a housing setting by utilising a systematic literature review method. Relevant information was analysed through content analysis techniques across various peer-reviewed journal articles. The results yielded the potential factors for effective repair and maintenance services in high-rise housing. This study thus contributes to the field by deriving valuable reference for property management companies tasked with managing such houses in consideration of the factors necessary for effective repair and maintenance towards building quality and sustainability
