Exploring the Narratives of Cooperating Teachers in Honing Student Teachers: A Qualitative Investigation
This research was conducted to investigate the lived experiences of cooperating teachers as mentors to student teachers, particularly in how they navigated their double roles as instructors and mentors. With a phenomenological methodology, the research gathered qualitative data from veteran cooperating teachers in order to identify their observations, difficulties, and tips in mentoring. It was found that although cooperating teachers had a significant influence in the development of student teachers' pedagogical competence, they themselves experienced difficulties such as overload of work, lack of institutional support, and absence of formal structures for mentoring. In spite of these, they created positive learning climates, engaged in ongoing professional development, and worked with colleagues to become more effective mentors. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for structured mentorship programs and stronger institutional support to improve the practicum experience and overall teacher preparation
The Road Less Easy: A Phenomenological Study of Teachers who Triumphed through Multiple Attempts in Department of Education
This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences of newly hired teachers in the Municipality of Kapalong who faced repeated challenges in entering the Department of Education (DepEd). Focusing on their emotional, psychological, and professional journeys, the research aimed to uncover how these educators coped with multiple rejections, financial strain, and societal expectations while maintaining their commitment to teaching. Using purposive sampling, five (5) participants of IDI and five (5) participants of FGD were carefully selected based on specific criteria namely, teachers who had undergone multiple unsuccessful attempts before eventually securing a position with DepEd. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, allowing participants to share their personal narratives in a safe and reflective space. Thematic analysis revealed key themes such as perseverance through application hardships, emotional resilience, financial struggles, personal growth, and motivation rooted in their passion for teaching. The findings not only humanize the recruitment process but also offer meaningful insights into how these experiences shaped their identities as educators. This study highlights the need for more empathetic, inclusive, and supportive hiring policies within the Philippine education system to better assist aspiring teachers facing similar challenges. Additionally, this study offers recommendations for improving the recruitment system, such as developing mentorship programs, enhancing transparency in hiring procedures, and promoting mental health support for applicants. These insights can guide policy makers and education leaders in designing systems that value resilience and personal growth alongside credentials
A Mixed- methods Study on the Attitudes of Freshmen Students toward Mathematics
This study sought to determine the attitude of freshmen students toward mathematics at Kapalong College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology (KCAST), focusing on four key dimensions: anxiety, motivation/enjoyment, confidence, and importance/value. This study employed a mixed-methods design, specifically the convergent parallel approach, which concurrently collected and analyzed both qualitative and quantitative data. Descriptive design was used for the quantitative phase, while a phenomenological approach guided the qualitative phase. According to Creswell (2003), this method allows for a more comprehensive understanding by comparing and integrating findings from both data sets. Findings revealed that students generally had a moderate attitude toward mathematics. Influencing factors included math anxiety, self-confidence, motivation, and the perceived importance of the subject. The thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed three primary themes: psychological and cognitive challenges in math performance, the use of digital and independent strategies in learning math, and the impact of math perceptions on students’ career choices. Integration of both data sets showed that qualitative insights supported the quantitative patterns, indicating consistency across findings. It can be inferred that students’ attitudes toward mathematics are influenced by both internal factors (such as anxiety, confidence, and motivation) and external factors (including perceived value and learning strategies). The merging of qualitative and quantitative results provides a comprehensive understanding of the moderate attitude observed, suggesting the need for targeted interventions to improve students’ experiences and perceptions in learning mathematics

Social Innovations and Civilizational Processes in the Findhorn Ecovillage, Scotland: Fractals for Sustainable Societies and Responses to Multiple Contemporary Crises
The Findhorn Ecovillage, founded in 1962 in Scotland, stands as one of the world’s longest-standing community experiments in sustainability, ecological spirituality and social innovation. This article analyzes Findhorn as a micro civilizational process unfolding over time, drawing on Norbert Elias’s process sociology and the Transformative Social Innovation Theory (TSI). A qualitative methodology was adopted—comprised of participant observation, semi-structured interviews and document analysis—allowing the identification of sociocultural and ecosystemic patterns that sustain the community over six decades. Findings indicate enduring practices of cooperation, ethical self-regulation, participatory governance and experiential learning, expressed through four fractal patterns of social innovation: ecological regeneration, solidarity economy, reflexive governance and spirituality as public ethics. These patterns correspond to concrete responses to environmental, social, institutional and symbolic crises. We conclude that Findhorn functions as a civilizational laboratory offering principles with potential for translation to other contexts
Navigating the Effectiveness of AI-driven Feedback vs Human Feedback Across Educational Levels: A Systematic Review
This systematic review examined the effectiveness of AI-generated and traditional human feedback in secondary and tertiary education from 2020 to 2025. This review discussed three key areas: the effectiveness of AI-generated feedback, the importance of human feedback, and the potential of hybrid approaches, based on 25 peer-reviewed articles retrieved from SCOPUS, ERIC, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Philippine E-journals. The findings demonstrated that AI-generated feedback is valuable due to its speed, accessibility, and ability. However, it often lacks personalization, context-awareness, and deeper engagement. Risks, such as ethical concerns and fake author citation were evident. On the other hand, human feedback is proven superior in fostering more detailed, personalized, and emphatic critiques. Nevertheless, it came out with limitations including inconsistency, time constraints, and workloads. New research emphasized that AI-generated feedback paired with human feedback improved depth of critique while maintaining emotional connection. Such feedback approach is a more viable option in providing feedback. Comprehensively, while AI has proven its essence and practicality, it cannot replace the teacher’s role in developing research skills and foster meaningful learning
TASHKENT SUMMIT: DEFINING A NEW AGENDA FOR CENTRAL ASIA
This article examines the evolving dynamics of regionalism in Central Asia within the broader context of globalization and increasing geopolitical uncertainty. It argues that regional cooperation has become not merely a political aspiration but a strategic necessity driven by economic interdependence, shared security challenges, and the need for sustainable development. The study highlights the transformation of Central Asia from a region characterized by low intra-regional trade and mutual distrust into an emerging space of dialogue, coordination, and collective responsibility. Particular attention is paid to the role of consultative meetings of regional leaders, the growth of intra-regional trade and aggregate economic indicators, and the gradual formation of a shared regional identity rooted in historical, cultural, and humanistic values. The article also analyzes the growing importance of external cooperation formats such as “Central Asia Plus,” connectivity projects, and engagement with Afghanistan. It concludes that Central Asia has the potential to become a bridge between regions and civilizations, contributing to stability, trust, and inclusive growth in an era of global polycrisis
Flood Disaster Management in India: Lessons from Uttarakashi and Punjab
India, one of the fastest-growing economies, remains highly dependent on agriculture for livelihood and food security. However, extreme weather events in 2025 severely disrupted this sector, particularly due to floods in Uttarakashi and Punjab. In Uttarakashi, intense cloudbursts triggered flash floods and landslides, causing significant loss of life, damage to infrastructure, and destruction of agricultural land in the fragile Himalayan region. Rescue operations indicated large-scale displacement and severe geomorphological changes in affected valleys. In contrast, Punjab experienced widespread riverine flooding due to prolonged monsoon rainfall, submerging nearly 2 lakh hectares of cropland and affecting thousands of farming households. Major crops such as paddy, maize, and sugarcane suffered heavy losses, resulting in an estimated decline of nearly 15% in agricultural output and substantial economic damage. The contrasting flood characteristics highlight the differing vulnerabilities of mountainous and plain regions where flash floods in Uttarakhand caused localized but intense destruction, while prolonged inundation in Punjab led to large-scale agricultural and economic losses. The study underscores the urgent need for region-specific flood mitigation strategies, climate-resilient agricultural planning, and improved early warning systems to reduce future risks and enhance sustainability in India’s agrarian economy
