Phil Gagliano and Ross Grimsley Present Awards
No full textPhilip Joseph Gagliano (left) and Ross Albert Grimsley Jr. (right) are presenting various honors. Gagliano is holding two American Legion awards on his right arm for himself and Tim McCarver and one award in his left hand for Grimsley. All the awards state that they are “in recognition for outstanding sportsmanship and for high devotion to our republic’s heritage” presented by Memphis Post No. 1. Grimsley is holding up one medal in his right hand while four others are in his left.
Phil Gagliano and Tim McCarver (not pictured) are graduates of Christian Brothers High School, and two of the four alumni to play in the World Series for Major League Baseball. Grimsley was a graduate of Frayser High School and was named to the 1978 National League All-Star team while he played for the Montreal Expos. Both Gagliano and Grimsley played for the Cincinnati Reds: Gagliano from 1973 to 1974 and Grimsley from 1971 to 1973
