    The ground-breaking for the Engineering Center was September 17, 1984. Construction was underway, when the Nolan bequest came to Christian Brothers. Bennette Callicutt Nolan willed a large tract of land to CBC with the desire that her husband, John Joseph Nolan, be memorialized. CBC sold the land and used the funds to complete the Engineering Center, which was named in memory of the Nolans at its dedication in April 1986

    Baseball Coach Joe Nadicksbernd celebrated his 200th victory in the 1983-1984 season, when this photo was taken. In the 1990s, Joe Nadicksbernd was the head baseball coach. He would later become Christian Brothers' athletics director in 2003

Briggs Foundation which awarded a $350,000 grant, enabling Christian Brothers College to complete plans for the center

    Dr. John J. Shea Jr. was a graduate of Christian Brothers College and valedictorian, who became an internationally known ear specialist and director of the Shea Clinic. In 1962, he was one of 100 people selected to feature in an issue of Life Magazine, and he was the only Memphian. During a President’s Club reception in 1983, he received the Outstanding Leadership Award, which is the moment caught in the photo. A year later, Dr. Shea joined the CBC Board of Trustees and Chairman for the CBC fund drive
