Brother Robert Staub
Brother Robert Staub first came to Memphis in 1950 as a professor for the biology department at Christian Brothers College. He became the chairman of the biology department in 1961, and he was made the faculty moderator of athletics in 1962. While chairman, Brother Robert received a doctor of philosophy in botany from the University of Minnesota in 1966.
Brother Robert was incredibly dedicated to environmentalism, serving on several boards and conducting research. When CBC was awarded grants in the sciences, Brother Robert would either become an investigator, like in the Memphis water pollution research in 1967; or director, like with the life science program or the training sessions for junior high school biology teachers. He even became a founding member of the board of directors of the Environmental Action Council of Memphis. In 2006, Christian Brothers High School included Brother Robert as one of the inductees into the CBHS Hall of Fame. At the time, he had retired from teaching and had been a Christian Brother for 66 years
