MACISZEWSKI, VIRGINIA 'GINNY' PATY MOTT-SMITH, of Kailua, Hawai'i, passed away on January 11, 2016 in Kailua. 
Ginny was born on May 16, 1939, and spent her childhood on Maui, Kauai, Hawai'i, Taiwan, and Oahu because her 
father was a sugar cane industry engineer and consultant. She was a true kama'aina girl who was quietly proud of her 
family's deep roots in Hawai'i. She was a descendant of Dr. John Mott-Smith, who served the Kingdom of Hawai'i under 
King Kamehameha V, King David Kalakaua, and Queen Lydia Lili'uokalani. She was also a descendant of the Paty family. 
Ginny graduated from Punahou School, and then attended Michigan State University, where she was a member of the 
Delta Gamma sorority. Upon her graduation from Michigan State in 1961, Ginny returned home to Hawai'i and worked 
as an executive secretary for Castle and Cooke and C. Brewer & Co., and then as the court clerk and personal secretary 
for First Circuit Court Judge Frank McKinley. She married attorney Felix Maciszewski in 1965, and the couple had three 
children. Ginny served the community as a member of the Junior League of Honolulu, Honolulu Symphony's Women's 
Association, Hawaii Opera for Youth, Kainalu Little League, and in several other capacities. For the last 33 years, Ginny 
was the Secretary of Punahou School's Thurston Memorial Chapel. She embodied kindness, grace, optimism, 
generosity, sincerity, elegance, and class. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she truly 'lived aloha' and 
will be missed by everyone who knew the radiance of her beautiful smile and warm personality. Ginny's parents, 
Robert Hartwell Mott-Smith and Evelyn Hiemark Mott-Smith, and brother Endre Mott-Smith predeceased her. She is 
survived by her husband Felix, daughters Colleen (Kai) Fischer and Teresa, son Mike (Michelle), and grandchildren 
Sierra Fischer, Tyler Fischer, Austin Fischer, and Marek Maciszewski. A service for family and friends will be held at 
Punahou School's Thurston Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 28 at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, Ginny's family 
kindly requests donations in Ginny's name to Punahou School to support programs led by the Chapel and Luke Center 
for Public Service, or to the Cleveland Clinic Sydell and Arnold Miller Heart & Vascular Institute for amyloidosis 
treatment and research. Ginny's family will attend a private Memorial Mass for her at Saint Anthony of Padua Church
