sitting at the side of the bed, holding his hands. He was ready to go after his battle with cancer. He graduated from 
Kailua High School in 1976 and went on to Kapiolani Community College where through the apprenticeship program 
started working at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in 1980. He retired in 2016 working for NAVSEA, Norfolk, Virginia, 
based out of PHNSYD as a Program Analyst. In lieu of a funeral service, on December 17, 2016, we threw a celebration 
of life party for Layne. He believed in gratitude, and he believed in joy. He didn't want a funeral, where people would 
be sad that he was gone. He wanted a party, where people would be happy that he lived. We thought maybe about 
100 people would show, but that night the room was packed with over 300. People flew from all over the world to be 
there. We shared stories, drank beer and wine, ate Hawaiian food, and listened to music. Scattering of ashes to be held 
at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Terry (Tessie), son, Brandon, Miho (Brandon's fiancee), daughter, Brittni, 
Andy (Brittni's husband), mother, Florence, brothers, Lance and Larsen and sister Lisa Anderson.

the very end. After years of battling many chronic health problems, she is now free of pain and suffering. As an 
amazing, loving, and devoted mother, she did everything for her children. She is survived by her husband, John B. 
Marques; Sons, Christian Matimo Tuairau and Manutea Tuairau; Daughter, Debra Kim Poua Heitiare Tuairau; Siblings, 
Napua Beaver, Debra Barenaba, Eric Beaver, Joseph Kinimaka, Malia Kinimaka, and Kelly Kinimaka. Celebration of Life

JULIETTE KEKAIKUIHALA KAUHI GALUTERIA A Godly Mother July 16, 1930-October 28, 2017 Juliette Kekaikuihala Kauhi 
Galuteria was born on July 16, 1930, in Kapahulu, O'ahu. Her parents were Susie Nani Hussey Kauhi and Joseph Kauhi, 
and her tutu lady was Ana Kalua Hussey. Her Ohana was quite musical and she, being a singer, was particularly proud of 
her older brother Richard Kaui, an accomplished pianist, vocal stylist and recording artist. Her childhood home was 
nestled just off the slopes of Diamond Head near the Kapi'olani Park and Waikiki Beach, places she would play and 
frequent during her childhood. Her 'ohana worshipped and prayed together, loved one another, and the Bible was 
frequently consulted and guided their daily lives. She was baptized as a child by Kahu Edward Kahale and became a 
member of the Kawaiaha'o Church in her pre-teen years and continued her involvement with Kawaiaha'o Church and 
many other Christian activities throughout her life. Juliette Galuteria was educated at Waikiki School, Lili'uokalani 
School, Kaimuki High School, class of 1948; and spent summers working in the pineapple fields and canneries. She 
pursued further education after graduation from high school at Honolulu Business College, Honolulu Bible Training, and 
night classes at community school. She married Arnold Galuteria in June 1954, and was blessed with three beautiful 
children, Brickwood Malihinimaika'aina'e, Scott Kali'ulaokala, and Susie Nani, in addition to five beautiful grandchildren 
and eight great-grandchildren she loved dearly. Arnold and her children, Scott and Susie, predeceased her and are now 
with the Lord. Gifted with stenographic proficiency she worked at Bishop Estate for 17 years, followed by 38 years of 
service with the City and County of Honolulu working with Mayor Blaisdell, the Honolulu City Council, the Honolulu 
Police Department, and the Department of General Planning retiring in 1998. Juliette Galuteria received numerous 
awards including the City and County of Honolulu Employee of the Year (1976), City of Honolulu May Day Lei Queen 
(1978), Aloha Week Queen (1966), and Female Lifetime Achievement awardee (2006). Musically, she was a featured 
vocalist in the Ed Kenney Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Room Show and has sung for two U.S. Presidents. She unselfishly 
volunteered her time and served in numerous positions with the Hawai'i Conference United Church of Christ and with 
the Kawaiaha'o Church. She was mentored in her spiritual life by Kahu William Kamau'u, Kahu Edward Kahale, Kahu 
Abraham Akaka, Kahu William Kaina, Kahu James Fung, Kahu Curt Kekuna, Hope Kahu Tuck Wah Lee, Hope Kahu 
Leopold Waiau, Hope Kahu Edward Kapoo, Hope Kahu Dean Fujii, Hope Kahu Ron Ching, Hope Kahu Kimo Mersberg, 
Hope Kahu James Halfaker, and Lay Pastor Mealii Kalama. She was a frequent and buoying presence at the office of her 
eldest son, Hawai'i State Senator Brickwood Galuteria. Juliette Kekaikuihala Kauhi Galuteria was called home to the 
Lord on October 28, 2017. Services will be held at her beloved Kawaiaha'o Church on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

82, joined her eternal Father in Heaven on October 28, 2017. She was first and foremost a devoted and loving mother 
and wife -- full of energy and spirit, adventure, patience, kindness and that lighthearted laugh. Jean grew up in Kalihi 
and graduated from Farrington High School in 1953. She loved singing and dancing the jitterbug. Jean worked as a 
stenographer, secretary, bookkeeper and executive assistant in Hawaii, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco 
throughout the years. She met her husband, George Leong, at a dance in Honolulu. She said it was love at first sight -- 
on his part. Jean married her life-long partner in Sacramento in 1956. During their 45 years of marriage, they raised 
four children - Jodi Leong, Jeanne Bissen (Warren), Eric Leong (Cheryl) and Jennifer Young (Royden). Jean said she so 
enjoyed being a stay at home mom when her children were young -- playing ball, coloring books and being there for 
them. When the children were grown, Jean returned to work as an office manager and executive assistant for her 
husband's firm, George Leong and Associates. She loved working and golfing with her husband until his passing in 2002.

Battle Creek, Michigan to Robert and Ellen Billings. She has one older brother, Thomas Billings. She was a 1967 
graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Linda has lived all over the world- including in Germany and England 
before making Hawaii home. With her creativity, organizational skills and her ability to connect with people and 
children-Linda has been the director of Youth and Activity Centers for the Air Force and the Navy- both in the U.S. and 
abroad. Linda was also a dedicated Foster and Emergency Shelter parent for 20 Years and helped to care for and give 
homes to over 500 children. Her interests and hobbies included Genealogy, all things related to Ireland, Scotland & 
England, Crossword & Intellectual puzzles, mysteries, crafting, reading and creative writing. Linda was known for her 
kind heart, witty sense of humor, entertaining life stories, gift of gab, and her perceptive, empathetic nature. This 
beloved Mother, proud Grandma and Best Friend will be greatly missed. She is survived by her 7 Children: Danielle 
Dean, Jordan Dean, Anthony Dean, Bailey Dean, Heather (Dean) Sena, Kenna (Dean) Roles, and Todd Billings Along with
