Dr. Walker previously served as interim chancellor, chair of the Department of Physical Education and Recreation, and head coach for North Carolina Central University's track team. Dr. Walker served as U.S. head Track and Field coach at the 1976 Olympic Games. Dr. Walker retired from North Carolina Central University in 1986. Dr. LeRoy Walker became the first African-American president of the United States Olympic Committee on October 11, 1992
