A portrait of Dr. Beverly Washington Jones, who was appointed Interim Chancellor June 16, 2007. Prior to becoming Interim Chancellor, Dr. Beverly W. Jones served as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dean of University College, Director of the Institute for the Study of Minority Issues, and Directed the Saturday Academy, an academic enrichment program for third through fifth graders. In March 2008 Dr. Jones was named one of the 25 Most Influential Black Women in Business by The Network Journal, New York tri-state area's premier business magazine for African-American professionals. Dr. Jones has published five books and many articles. Dr. Beverly Washington Jones was the first African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in America History from the University of North Carolina. University of the District of Columbia's President William Pollard, 2007
Dr. William L. Pollard, Seventh President of UDC, served as President of the University of Columbia, from 2002 though 2007. During Dr. Pollard's tenure, UDC attained accreditation or reaccreditation of all its academic programs, including the law school. He also increased academic and professional counseling for students, establishing outreach to alumni and creating an annual Founder's Day program. Dr. Pollard earned a BA Degree in Sociology from Shaw University; a MSW Degree in Community organization from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and a Ph.D. degree in policy and Planning from the University of Chicago. Dr. Pollard now serves as NASULG's Vice president for the Office of Access and the Advancement of Public Black Colleges and Universities
