    Enitra Jones, a senior biology major with a minor in chemistry from Gretna, Louisiana, was the 74th "Miss Southern". Jones was a member of the Southern University honors college (Beta Beta), president of Beta Kappa chi, president of the National Institute of Science and is a member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In addition to her campus involvements, she has honors to coincide with them. Honors include: honors college scholarship, T.O.P.S. scholarship (Tuition Opportunity Program for Students), National dean's list, and Memphis McNair Scholar. Miss Southern spearheaded the development of Up 'til Dawn program at the university in 2004. Every year after, each royal court assumes the responsibilities of making sure the program runs smoothly. The program helps to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a hospital founded to treat children with various life treating illnesses. The 73rd coronation made history by being the first ever to have a famous recording artist appear and entertain the awaiting queen. Bad Boy recording artist, Carl Thomas, serenaded Miss Southern and also gave a remarkable show to the audience. She reigned as Miss Southern from 2004-2005
