Sharika King, 2005
Sharika King was the 75th "Miss Southern". A 4.0-grade point average biology major from Alexandria, Louisiana, she was a member of the Rotaract Club and the Tri-Beta science club. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was also chair of the Up Til' Dawn program, a collegiate ran community service project that raises money for St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis. During the 2005 reining of Miss Southern, the state of Louisiana was impacted by two major hurricanes. Miss Southern donated her coronation supplement to the Southern University Hurricane Relief Fund to aid college students displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She reigned as Miss Southern from 2005-2006
48th Annual Garnett-Nabrit Lecture Series, March 22-24, 2005
This is an audio recording of the beginning of the Wednesday Community Worship Service during the 48th Annual Garnett-Nabrit Lecture Series at American Baptist College. There is music and singing from the beginning of the audio until 6:09 where there appears to be a skip in the audio. Dr. Julius Scruggs, a former ABC student and the Vice President-at-Large of the National Baptist Convention, can be heard speaking following this. Dr. Scruggs received his Bachelor of Arts from American Baptist College, and his Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Vanderbilt University School of Divinity.
