    Considerations For Developing Effective Mobile Mental Health Applications

    Mobile mental health applications (MMHAs) are mobile applications developed with the intention of bettering the mental health of their users. There is a wide array of MMHAs currently available on digital markets, but the effectiveness of these applications remains in question. Research on the persuasive strategies employed by these applications would lead to an increase in the effectiveness of intervention methods utilized. Developing guidelines to assist in the creation of these applications would benefit developers and end-users. There is a critical need for MMHAs as they are accessible and often affordable treatment options for hard-to-reach, stigmatized or undertreated populations. This need for accessibility has only been magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused increased mental health issues within the United States and decreased the availability of face-to-face therapy
