Trends and New Developments in FinTech
218 p.This Reprint of the Special Issue titled “Trends and New Developments in FinTech” contains ten papers, eight research articles and two review papers. The topics discussed in the Reprint’s eight research papers include FinTech innovations in banking (risk-scoring models, racial and ethnic disparities in mortgage-lending outcomes across different lender types and robo-advising financial services), financial technology development (Lithuania’s FinTech sector development), and financial assets (the use of crypto-assets/currencies in financial payments and the drivers and impacts of wider cryptocurrency adoption). The two review papers deal with the dynamic interaction between financial literacy and higher education using bibliometric analysis and the examination of recent trends and developments between Generative AI (GAI) and finance.
Overall, this Reprint offers insights into new FinTech developments in digital banking services such as robo-advising and mortgage-lending activities, the development of FinTech in the Lithuanian economy, and the use of cryptocurrencies and crypto-assets in digital payments. Finally, the review papers discuss the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the area of finance and the significance of financial literacy in education. All papers offer important suggestions, and warnings of potential dangers, in using FinTech in various everyday life activities by retail and institutional market participants. Policy-makers should also heed these recommendations in order to apply prudent policies and regulatory schemes for the benefit of the society as a whole
Towards Sustainable Good Health and Well-being
222 p.The text discusses the importance of health literacy and patient participation for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal of Good Health and Well-being. Health literacy is essential for shared decision-making, person-centred care, chronic disease management, and reducing health inequalities. It is also tied to sustainability in healthcare, linking to the UN goal of Quality Education by promoting educational models for patients and professionals. The Norwegian definition of health literacy emphasizes an individual’s ability to understand, assess, and apply health information for informed health decisions. While individual focus is clear, the organizational perspective is underrepresented. Evidence shows patient participation improves satisfaction, safety, and care efficiency, reinforcing its role in sustainable healthcare development
The AI City
257 p.This open access book presents the concept of AI Cites for the first time. It includes the theoretical basis, development frontier, and different application scenarios of artificial intelligence cities. The book is accompanied by rich practical cases to conduct in-depth and detailed discussions on the proposition of artificial intelligence cities. It fills the gap between artificial intelligence and urban planning. This book points out the urgent human needs in the city for AI scientists to considered in the next round of AI technology development. It also provides new ideas for urban planners and researchers to solve problems with new technologies
New Challenges and Perspectives in Neurology and Autonomic Disorders
146 p.The autonomic nervous system, consisting of sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric divisions, is an integral part of the central and peripheral nervous systems and controls homeostasis, blood flow, and responses to internal and external stimuli. Disorders of the autonomic nervous system—both common, such as POTS, neurocardiogenic syncope, and orthostatic hypotension, and rare, such as multiple system atrophy, amyloid neuropathy, and familial dysautonomia—have been an evolving area of research in basic and translational science, as well as in clinical practice. More recently, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic further underscored the need to elucidate the neurologic and autonomic mechanisms of post-infectious syndromes. To this end, the new frontier in neurology and autonomic disorders, as well as the mechanistic interplay between a wide range of neurologic conditions and autonomic dysfunctions, present an exciting opportunity for groundbreaking discoveries. In this reprint, we gather original research, reviews, and perspectives on a variety of topics involving neurologic and autonomic disorders, including post-COVID sequelae as part of long COVID
Theory and Practice of Sustainable Economic Development
204 p.The aim of this Special Issue is to engage readers with the latest theoretical advancements and practical approaches in sustainable economic development. As the global economy faces mounting pressures from environmental degradation, social inequality, and resource limitations, the need to integrate sustainability into economic systems has never been more urgent. This issue brings together contributions that bridge theory and practice, exploring innovative models, empirical research, and policy frameworks that support long-term economic resilience without compromising ecological integrity or social well-being. From green economy strategies and green innovation to inclusive growth policies and sustainable business practices, the articles in this collection illuminate diverse pathways toward sustainable development. Leading scholars and practitioners offer critical insights into how economies can be restructured to align with the principles of sustainability, fostering equitable prosperity within planetary boundaries
Giải pháp nâng cao chất lượng dịch vụ y tế học đường tại Trường Đại học Nguyễn Tất Thành
9 tr.Nghiên cứu đánh giá chất lượng dịch vụ y tế học đường tại Trường Đại học Nguyễn Tất Thành thông qua khảo sát 105 sinh viên từng sử dụng dịch vụ. Kết quả xác định 5 yếu tố chính ảnh hưởng đến sự hài lòng: (1) Cơ sở vật chất, trang thiết bị và đội ngũ y tế; (2) Chất lượng chăm sóc sức khỏe; (3) Hoạt động truyền thông và giáo dục sức khỏe; (4) Đảm bảo vệ sinh môi trường; (5) Đảm bảo an toàn thực phẩm. Phân tích cho thấy sự khác biệt đáng kể giữa các yếu tố, từ đó đề xuất giải pháp nâng cao chất lượng dịch vụ y tế, góp phần hỗ trợ toàn diện sức khỏe sinh viên

Dysbiosis of the Evolved Intestinal Microbiome: Lessons for Health in Future Generations
152 p.While it is clearly recognised that many non-communicable disorders are related to a disturbed microbiome (commonly called dysbiosis, a shortened term for microbiome failure: dysmicrobiosis), there is an absence of widely accepted underlying theories. The aim of this book is to show that all such disorders, be they weight gain, immune system disturbance, or poor mental health, stem from a single underlying problem: the failure to transfer key intestinal microbes from the mother to the new-born during birth. Furthermore, in contrast to the normal, exclusively bacterial approach, the book describes what might be called a “second generation” approach to the microbiome, that emphasises beneficial microeukaryotes acting to coordinate diverse bacterial functionality. Most importantly, lessons have been drawn to guide future research, the aim being to reintroduce these key microbes at the time of birth, alongside breast milk (bank milk if necessary) and before the immune system of the infant is fully established. If all goes as expected, not only can the present “triple plagues” of non-communicable disease be ameliorated more efficiently, but it should also be possible to banish such disease from future populations. Unfortunately, however, beneficial microeukaryotes will be hard to detect, while resistance-inducing oral antibiotics must be limited
Grounding Cognition in Perceptual Experience
242 p.This reprint presents a multifaceted reflection on the influence of perceptual experience on various aspects of cognitive performance. It brings together contributions that demonstrate the importance of properties that emerge from perceptual experience in shaping our mental representations, beliefs, language, imagination, evaluations, actions, and interactions. The term 'perceptual experience' was chosen for the title over the more familiar 'perception' to emphasize that our focus is on human phenomenological experience rather than brain activity. This reprint demonstrates the role of experience in contemporary research in psychology and cognitive science within a broad framework. The chapters cover a wide range of topics and address various questions. One such question is how perceptual experience contributes to our conceptualization of experience. This relates to basic same-different categorization, judgements of numerosity, as well as the experienced qualities of environments (e.g. restorative environments) or movements (e.g. optimal movements). It also relates to the pleasantness of pictures and the naive theories we develop based on perception, and to how we shape paradigms such as those of 'illusions'. This volume also addresses other questions, such as how perceptual experience is reflected in linguistic configurations and how perception influences reasoning processes, memory, and empathic responses to descriptions of experiences. The thirteen papers in this reprint each provide answers to these questions from a unique point of view
