    Get PDF
This study investigated the effect of tax collection on economic development in Makarfi Local Government, Nigeria, focusing on three key aspects: the relationship between tax revenue and public service delivery, the influence of residents\u27 perceptions and attitudes on tax revenue, and the impact of taxation on local economic development. Using regression analysis, the study reveals that tax revenue does not significantly affect public service delivery, nor is it significantly influenced by residents\u27 perceptions and attitudes towards taxation. However, the analysis demonstrates a significant positive relationship between tax revenue and local economic development, highlighting the crucial role of effective tax collection in fostering economic growth. The findings suggest that while public sentiment and service delivery are not strongly linked to tax revenue, enhancing tax collection mechanisms could be a viable strategy for driving economic development in the local government area. The study recommends improving tax collection efficiency, broadening the tax base, and reinvesting tax revenues into infrastructure and services to stimulate further economic growth

The findings of the study showed a positive relationship between motivational factors and teacher competence on students’ academic performance.  Also, training and re-training of teachers will not only enhance teacher competence but also boost their morale which invariably will engender high level of students’ performance. The following recommendations were made: the government should employ more teachers in order to fill the vacuum which invariably has an adverse effect on students’ performance.  Moreso, school administrators should also ensure proper monitoring and thorough teacher supervision to enhance competence
