Contractual pathways to collaboration: A Swiss case study comparing transactional and relational models with implications for global IPD practice
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), also referred to as Project Alliancing, promotes collaboration through the integration of people, systems, and practices to optimize construction project outcomes. This study explores how IPD is implemented in the Swiss context by comparing traditional transactional contracts with relational contracts that align with IPD principles. Using qualitative content analysis in MAXQDA, twelve contracts - eight relational and four transactional - were systematically analyzed to identify 61 regulatory themes, which were assigned 2,490 times across 463 paragraphs. The findings show that relational contracts regulate nearly twice as many topics as transactional ones, particularly in areas such as joint decision-making, shared responsibilities, collaborative methods, incentive-based remuneration, and active client involvement. These relational features align with IPD’s emphasis on partnership, risk-sharing, and value creation, and suggest a reduced potential for conflict and smoother project execution. The study provides a comprehensive checklist of regulatory considerations, aiding the drafting of future IPD contracts. Although rooted in Swiss practice, the results offer transferable insights for international application, especially in regions adopting or refining collaborative construction models. This research contributes to both academic discourse and professional practice by highlighting the contractual mechanisms necessary to foster integrated, performance-oriented project environments

Mathematical modelling and self-efficacy. Immediate and long-lasting effects of teaching mathematical modelling with a solution plan
Mathematical modelling requires both mathematical competencies and skills and is influenced by motivational beliefs, such as self-efficacy. However, limited research has explored how teaching modelling using a solution plan impacts modelling competence and self-efficacy in both the short and long term, or whether self-efficacy contributes to improvements in mathematical modelling. In this study, we examined (a) the immediate and long-term effects of teaching modelling on modelling competence, (b) the effects of teaching modelling on self-efficacy, and (c) the role of self-efficacy as a predictor of modelling competence among students receiving an intervention. A total of 157 Swiss secondary school students, representative of socioeconomic status and gender, from nine classes participated in the study. The intervention group solved modelling problems using a solution plan over four mathematics lessons, while the control group continued with their regular curriculum. Mathematical modelling competence and self-efficacy were assessed through pre-, post-, and follow-up tests. The analyses revealed a positive effect of teaching modelling using a solution plan on modelling competence, which persisted at follow-up. Although the intervention did not directly affect self-efficacy, self-efficacy was found to predict improvement in mathematical modelling from pretest to posttest in the intervention group. This exploratory study highlights the immediate and long-term positive impact of teaching mathematical modelling with a solution plan on students’ modelling competence. A key contribution of this study is the demonstration of the crucial role of self-efficacy in the development of modelling competence, as proposed by social cognitive theory
Ontology-Based Prompt Engineering with Large Language Models
Large language models have become a widely discussed topic that have a variety of potential applications which can be used by people with little technical knowledge and no coding skills. One of the potential applications is using large language models for information extraction tasks, such as for example when one wants to extract data from tables that are available in PDF files. This is very common in the financial industry, where data from annual reports needs to be gathered and made available for further analysis. However, large language models tend to hallucinate and provide wrong information in some cases, which creates a need for improved accuracy. A common strategy to improve the accuracy is with prompt engineering, which allows to influence the results of large language models by changing the input to the large language model

Infolge von Inklusionsbestrebungen im Bildungssystem werden vermehrt Schüler*innen mit erhöhtem Förderbedarf in Regelschulen unterrichtet, woraus ein Forschungsdesiderat hervorgeht. Das vorliegende Buch knüpft hier mit einer Videostudie zur Gestaltung und Qualität inklusiven Mathematikunterrichts auf der Primarstufe hinsichtlich Klassenführung, sozial-emotionaler und inhaltsbezogener Unterstützung an. Die Ergebnisse zeigen unter anderem die Relevanz der räumlichen Organisation und der Klassenlehrpersonen für die sozial-emotionale Unterstützung
