The major prepares students for graduate work or for employment in 
public health organizations and agencies. Students develop a 
multidisciplinary understanding of trends, determinants and sub-
disciplines including Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Management 
and Policy, Environmental Health, Behavioral Sciences and Health 
Education and Global Health. Students apply learning to research and 
intervention plans using quantitative and qualitative methods.

Environmental and sustainability studies is a unique interdiscipli-
nary program that combines environmental studies and sustainability. 
Coursework encourages students to think deeply and act on the chal-
lenges and solutions to problems of the environment and its limita-
tions, especially relating to human impact. Experiential learning is em-
phasized, with opportunities for student involvement in the sustaina-
bility effort on the Agnes Scott campus and off-campus internships.
