Landscape; Colored; 3 ½” x 5 ½”An aerial view of Bridgetown, Barbados. Many colorful cars are visible in the nearby car park, while several boats are docked in the Careenage. In the background is the Chamberlain Bridge with both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The Treasury Building and Parliament Building are among the many historic buildings identified. This is a divided back postcard.

Dear Auntie Gem, we are having a lovely holiday in “Beautiful Barbados”! The food is good – different vegs & lots of fish – the beaches are beautiful – ours has quite large beaches so we just “paddle”. Our hotel is very nice, pool, dining room etc. The local people are friendly and helpful. Our love to you, keep well, Sam & Beth.

Market Street Roseau - Dominica.

The buildings might be a combination of residential and commercial structures. The name L. Phillip is clearly visible on a sign in the foreground. The street is lined on the right side with a string of utility poles. The buildings in the image provide representation of the architectural features of the times, as does the cart for transportation.

One of the stores signs which is most visible is the “J.R.H. Seifert & Co. Ltd.

[The Mauby Girl, Barbados. British West Indies]
Portrait, colour, 3 ½” x 5½ ”This image shows a female mauby vendor and her customer standing in front of a donkey cart. The female vendor appears to be handing the other female her cup of mauby which would have been poured from the canister balanced on her head. The vendor also has a bucket hanging from her arm. This homemade drink was made by mixing sugar and water with the bark of the Colubrina elliptica or snakewood tree, sometimes adding other spies, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, citrus peel, and star anise.

Some exports include bananas, bay oil, vegetables, grapefruit, oranges and cocoa. The site around Bay Street is surrounded by water and buildings of historical architectural interests. Boats are seen docked in the water. Persons are also seen walking on the roadside.

Landscape, Colour, 3 ½” x 5½”This is a view of a residence in Barbados [Verona House, Bank Hall, St. Michael now the Government Electrical Department]. The most visible architectural features of the building are the roof work, the doors and the windows which have hurricane shutters attached to them ; patios surround the circumference of the house. The property is surrounded by different types of trees, plants and flowers. The front guard wall is made of concrete and has wrought iron bars.
