The Tourist Image of Russia in Europe

    Get PDF
The research object in the present work is the current tourist image of Russia in the international tourism market, especially in France. Unfortunately, recently many French people have a negative view of Russia, which does not contribute to increasing the flow of French tourists to the country. For various reasons, there is a certain lack of positive information about Russia in the world, while the restrictive political and economic measures imposed on Russia by the European Union, the United States, and other countries contribute to the formation of hardly the worst image of the country. The article analyzes the tourism potential of Russia, considers strategic directions for the inbound tourism development in the Russian Federation (RF), and examines ways that could contribute to the creation of the image of Russia as a country favorable for inbound tourism, and generate positive feelings towards Russians. The authors conclude that a positive image of Russia abroad can be created by solving existing socio-economic problems in the country, developing a competitive tourist industry in Russia, capable to meet the needs of sophisticated and demanding European consumers, rather than by agitation and propaganda calls. It is necessary to promote Russian tourism products not only through global events, such as the Olympics and World Championships, but also through the involvement of businesses and public organizations in this process, because the rich cultural heritage, unique geographical location between the West and the East, and natural diversity advance Russia to a prominent place in the world ranking of countries with potential tourism growth

ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS OF IMPROVEMENT OF BUILDING AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS

    Get PDF
The article considers the economic and technological factors of improving the air conditioning systems of commercial and office facilities. It analyzes both electric and other ‘green’ air conditioning systems. Engineering systems and networks wear out to a much greater extent than buildings, due to the phenomena of material and moral deterioration. Traditional buildings, especially old ones, require an individual approach to the construction of air conditioning systems. The synergistic effect in air conditioning systems can be extracted by combining various power units that make up such systems and using alternative energy sources in them. The development of information technology contributes to the effective solution of the problems of conditioning buildings based on control computer programs

    Religious Narratives of Persian Travelers

    Get PDF
Persians have travelled far and wide but only those travel writings which have been in Arabic are known and mentioned. In this paper fourteen itineraries by Persian writers are discussed. These itineraries are written in Persian and range from Nasir Khosrow’s Itinerary of 1046 – 1052 to Mehdi Qoli Hedayat’s Mecca Itinerary of 1903. A short biography of each writer and the reason for the travel are presented. The content of these books is classified into five categories of administration, economics, sociodemographics, environment, and women. It is argued that itineraries play a dual role of showing both the observer and the observed; these writers present a dichotomy regarding the Arabs and the lands they visited. On the one hand, they were fascinated by the dignity of the Bedouins and on the other, they abhorred the way of life and their behaviours. There is a kind of disappointment in the reaction of these writers which might be due to the utopian outlook at religious places and the lack of mythical opulence of Abbasid caliphs. It can also be considered as the reaction of a bygone empire to its occupiers

THE ROLE OF UNIVERSITOLOGY AND THE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY HISTORY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODERN RUSSIAN SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION

    Get PDF
Modern information society faces the relevant problems of development and improvement of university education. Thus, the appearance of special branch of social sciences and humanities - universitology - seems to be quite consistent. The subject field of this branch shows an interdisciplinary synthesis of university history, problems of higher education pedagogy, a socio-cultural approach, the formation of legal research, the study of sociological and psychological issues, and so on. The aim ofthis study is to analyze the interdisciplinary nature of universitology since it allows highlighting its role in the development of the modern system of higher education in Russia, as well as to develop practical recommendations for conducting research on the history of Russian universities. The research is of an interdisciplinary integrative character that considers the modern model of a Russian university as the center of the 'university space'. This broad methodological term includes institutional, anthropological, and socio-cultural approaches. This study also analyzes the widely used 'oral history' method, which has formed a significant database of retrospective interviews and other oral history sources. The authors study the practical research in universitology that has already been formed in Russia and abroad. The prospects for the development of this branch of socio-cultural knowledge and its current demand indicate further institutionalization of universitology. An integral feature of this process is finding new thematic blocks (legal, pedagogical and philosophic branches of universitology) and the introduction of new concepts ('university need'). The databases of oral and historical sources have been created, and evidence of university students has been recorded. The use of new research approaches would allow creating interdisciplinary works based on systematic, integrated approaches that can form a broad retrospect of the entire system of modern Russian universities. Based on the systematic experience of conducting research in the history of Russian universities, the authors propose their own conceptual methodology with a description of separate stages of work. The research results can be used in preparing commemorative publications devoted to the history of Russian universities. In addition, they have educational potential. The involvement of student volunteers in interviews cultivates a sense of belonging to the university corporation in them. At the same time, the authors argue sticking to the interdisciplinary character of such research, which would eventually go beyond the official 'commissioned' memorial publications

    Get PDF
The presence of a country's objects on various global ratings and lists of sights is currently a symbol of state prestige and significance. However, such lists affect the formation of tourist flows. One of these important lists is a list of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage masterpieces of the peoples of the world compiled under the aegis of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The Russian Federation is not a party in the Convention for the Safeguarding of this type of heritage, so the country is poorly represented on the list which does not reflect the role and importance of Russian culture in the global context. The experience of involving in the tourist industry even the two Russian objects from the Intangible Heritage List by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization shows the significant potential for forming tourist flows and developing tourist complexes based on the flows. The author examines three types of transformation of Russian intangible cultural heritage into a tourism product: 1) museum facilities; 2) theme parks; 3) heritage sites in the natural environment. The author also distinguishes three forms of intangible heritage representation in the tourist industry. These forms allow tourists to visit and get acquainted with the site and landscape of intangible heritage, a certain type of culture wherein the heritage develops and a prominent person who is a bearer and custodian of the tradition. Moreover, the article deals with the threats that the objects of intangible heritage may face in the process of involvement in the tourist and hospitality industry. The conclusion to the article contains some relevant proposals for ensuring the sustainable development of tourism based on the Russian intangible heritage sites

Broad application of this practice by autonomous public organizations can help to increase the overall culture and educational level in citizens, facilitate their participation in public life, develop public initiative and activity, and promote the broader use of rights and freedoms provided by the democratic state. To solve the set task, we applied the general dialectic method, serving to comprehend the internal self-development of the object under study; the historical method; and the method of complex comparative analysis.
