Iacobus Gallus: Opus musicum III/2. In dedicatione templi et a dominica post pentecosten usque ad adventum Domini
From the very beginning, one of the most important and ambitious goals of the MAMS collection has been publication of the collected works of Iacobus Handl-Gallus in a modern transcription tailored to the needs of contemporary performers. The publication of his famous collection of motets, Opus musicum, consisting of four books containing a total of 374 motets, partially achieved this goal in 1990. The transcriptions and critical commentaries were prepared by Edo Škulj, and Gallus’s motets were published in thirteen volumes between 1985 and 1990. The edition is enriched by numerous facsimiles from Gallus’s original prints, published between 1586 and 1590 by the Prague printer Georg Nigrin (Jiří Černý).
Gallus divided the third book of his Opus musicum (1587) into two sections, which have been retained in the MAMS edition. The second volume (III/2) consists of motets for up to 12 voices for the Feast of the Consecration of the church and for the season lying between the third Sunday after Pentecost and the first Sunday of Advent.
The 2024 digitized post-edition is accompanied by a new preface and an introductory study by Dr Marc Desmet that summarizes and compiles all recent findings about the composer and his work.
Iacobus Gallus: Opus musicum IV/4. Harmoniae quatuor vocum / Psalmi omnibus sanctis triumphales
The edition is enriched by numerous facsimiles from Gallus’s original prints, published between 1586 and 1590 by the Prague printer Georg Nigrin (Jiří Černý).
Gallus assigned the fourth book of his Opus musicum (1590) to feasts of the Virgin Mary, the Apostles, the Martyrs, the Witnesses and the Holy Virgins. Gallus arranged the motets not according to the chronological order of the church year, but according to the number of voices. The forth volume (IV/4) consists of 4-part motets for the feasts of the Mother of God and the Saints, plus, in conclusion, settings of four Triumphal Psalms, two of them for 24 voices distributed among four choirs.
The 2024 digitized post-edition is accompanied by a new preface and an introductory study by Dr Marc Desmet that summarizes and compiles all recent findings about the composer and his work.

Glasbeno in plesno delovanje žensk s priseljenskim ozadjem v Sloveniji
While many people have a formed opinion of them, few really know the musical and dance creativity of women shaped by the immigrant experience. Alma Bejtullahu's book (' Musical And Dance Practices Of Women With Immigrant Background') sheds light on part of their rich cultural and artistic activities within the cultural societiens, namely the diverse approaches to music and dance practices through which women express their immigrant and ethnic backgrounds in the Western Balkan countries. Women of different ages are involved in this amateur and socially engaged activity, which is rooted in a variety of personal circumstances and experiences. In the societies, they often learn the standardised performance practices that they use to recreate the musical traditions of their countries of origin. In addition to the above, the book also examines the musical practices of women artists who work as individuals, outside the confines of cultural societies, and who are predominantly professional musicians. Their distinctive feature is an individualised creative attitude towards the music of the Western Balkans, which they interpret in their own unique ways, often collaborating with musicians of other ethnicities. In all these processes of re-creation, women play a key role, not only as performers, but also as organizers, which enables them to decide about their practices and thus change the levers of power in their communities and in the society at large.
Knjiga Alme Bejtullahu osvetljuje del njihovega bogatega kulturno umetniškega delovanja znotraj društev, in sicer raznolike pristope h glasbenim in plesnim praksam, s katerimi ženske izražajo svojo priseljensko in etnično ozadje držav zahodnega Balkana.

Medieval Murals. New Perspectives and Research Approaches
Medieval mural paintings represent one of the most precious parts of artistic heritage and a crucial source for studying the culture of the relevant times and places, everyday life, and beliefs. They are also helpful for the reconstruction of religious practices and sometimes even historical events. Even the most fragmented remains of medieval murals make for a crucial methodological tool for reconstructing the buildings’ architectural history. The present monograph includes 12 studies by researchers from the broader European area on the selected medieval mural paintings from the end of the 12th to the middle of the 15th century, and it also focuses on the reception of these murals in the 20th century. The monograph thus also brings significant insights into the previously often overlooked question of the interpretation and instrumentalisation of medieval art in the 20th century. The contributions provide several new datings and attributions and reveal many new findings in the fields of iconography, stylistic connections, models, mobility of artists and workshops, commissioning backgrounds, and reception. They also raise new questions and describe modern methodological approaches to studying medieval murals.
Some of the research also extends to technical analysis, restoration and conservation, as a full understanding of medieval murals requires not only their iconographic and stylistic evaluation, but also an insight into their material reality. Prispevki ponujajo več novih datacij in atribucij, številna nova odkritja s področja ikonografije, slogovnih povezav, vzorov, prehajanja umetnikov in delavnic, naročniškega ozadja in recepcije, odpirajo pa tudi nekatera nova vprašanja in razkrivajo sodobne metodološke pristope k raziskovanju tega dragocenega umetnostnega gradiva.
Glasbena pot Sophie Linhart. Po sledeh družine Antona Tomaža Linharta
Following the sudden and untimely death of Anton Tomaž Linhart (1756–1795), a distinguished historian, poet, pioneer of Slovenian theatre, and erudite scholar, his widow Josepha found herself in a precarious situation. She sold their family home in Ljubljana and relocated to Vienna with her young daughters, Sophie and Amalia. This monograph ('Sophie Linhart’s Musical Career: In the Footsteps of A. T. Linhart’s Family') meticulously traces the lives of Linhart’s descendants, revealing the intricate paths they followed. The book’s seven chapters are united by a central theme: the role of music in Biedermeier bourgeois society. Special attention is given to Linhart’s daughter Sophie, who rose to prominence as an acclaimed concert and opera singer, a star of private music salons, and a figure of considerable social stature. The study offers fresh insights into the cultural and musical pulse of Vienna and Ljubljana during the early nineteenth century, re-evaluating the significance of music within bourgeois circles. Additionally, it delves into broader topics like the role and opportunities of women in the musical world and underscores the importance of biographical research in contemporary humanities.Po nenadni in daleč prezgodnji smrti Antona Tomaža Linharta (1756–1795), zgodovinarja, pesnika, nestorja slovenskega gledališča in obenem vsestransko izobraženega razsvetljenca, se je njegova vdova Jožefa znašla v kočljivem položaju. Prodala je družinsko hišo v Ljubljani in se z mladoletnima hčerkama Sophie in Amalio preselila na Dunaj. Pričujoča monografija pronicljivo razkriva eno sled za drugo in osvetljuje življenjske poti Linhartovih potomk in potomcev. Sedem poglavij povezuje rdeča nit: glasba in njen pomen v meščanski družbi bidermajerja. Monografija osvetljuje in vrednoti dosedanje razumevanje pomena glasbe v meščanskem okolju ter večplastno predstavlja kulturni utrip Dunaja in Ljubljane v prvih desetletjih 19. stoletja.
The author takes an ethnographic look at stone, stonemasonry and stonemasons on the Trnovo and Banjščice Plateau and in the surrounding area. After an overview of the geographical features of the area, he presents the characteristic rocks of the area, paying particular attention to flat and winged stone, which is very suitable for the roofing of listed stone buildings. He places the rural architecture in this geographical and geological context and analyses the stonemasonry work on the rural buildings. In particular, dated examples are comprehensively presented so that the development of the buildings from the 16th to the first half of the 20th century can be traced.
The presentation of the most interesting examples of stone cultural heritage is followed by biographies of stonemasons, quarrymen, bricklayers and other master stonemasons. The most important village was Grgar with the largest number of stonemasons and stone carvers, followed by Sedovec in Ravnica, with Voglarji and Trnovo on the edge of the Trnovo Plateau and Levpa with Seniški Breg on the western edge of the Banjščice Plateau. A special place is occupied by Kanalski Lom with the self-taught artist Andrej Murovec, who left behind a work of magnificent sculptural gravestones. Finally, the foreign stonemasons and bricklayers who built the railroad line in the Soča Valley in 1903-1906 are also presented.
Predstavitvi najzanimivejših primerov kamnite kulturne dediščine sledijo biografije kamnosekov, kamnolomcev, zidarjev in drugih mojstrov kamna.
Access to Information on the Posting of Workers. Construction Companies’ Practices And Challenges
This book presents the issue of access to information in the posting of workers. The authors identify and assess the practices and challenges of construction companies involved in the posting of workers, either as posting companies sending their workers to provide a service from one European Union (EU) country to another or as a user company that receives the services provided by posting companies and their posted workers. The chapters in this book contribute to the debates on the posting of workers by filling a gap in understanding how transnational posting companies and user or receiving companies find and use information in their interaction with national institutions and how that affects their overall performance in terms of the correct application of the posting rules and the protection of labour and social standards. The studies focus on the specific case of the construction sector as one of the main sectors where posting occurs and where both larger companies and SMEs as well as self-employed are active. Consequently, this sector covers a great diversity of “companies”, allowing for a stratified understanding of posting and receiving companies’ challenges.
Pravopisne kategorije ePravopisa 2023
Pravopisne kategorije ePravopisa 2023 (‘Orthographic Categories of ePravopis 2021’) include descriptions of completed problem sets that allow the language users to follow the revision process of the normative rules and the orthographic dictionary. The dictionary (ePravopis) contains entries with specific information on word notation, pronunciation, textual usage, morphological features and word formation possibilities; orthographic categories, on the other hand, provide the language user with additional knowledge about the specific problem areas of Slovenian orthography to which the selected dictionary entries refer. It also explains which other words belong to this category and how the problem is solved in the normative rules. Orthographic Categories of ePravopis 2023 include six new orthographic categories: (1) Czech, (2) Estonian, (3) Finnish, (4) Polish, (5) Slovak, (6) Names of administrative (provincial) units. The already introduced problem sets have also been supplemented, above all the ones dealing with proper names from the proposal of the new normative rules’ chapter titled “Grammatical Description for the Orthographic Manual”.Pravopisne kategorije ePravopisa 2023 so opisi vsebinsko zaključenih problemskih sklopov, ki uporabnikom omogočajo vpogled v proces prenove pravopisnih pravil in pravopisnega slovarja.
Osebni zaimki in nastajajoča slovenska knjižna norma
The monograph presents the development of Slovenian personal pronouns from the earliest written sources to the mid-nineteenth century, when the modern literary language system of personal pronouns was mainly established. The main focus is on the Protestant period, while the next three centuries are presented mainly in the light of the preservation or change of tradition, as reflected in the various Slovenian grammars and in the editions of the Catholic lectionary. Pronouns are presented at three linguistic levels: orthographical, morphological and morphosyntactical (the relationship between long and short forms of pronouns, the redundant use of the unemphasized pronominal subject). Their use to express politeness and the impersonal use of the pronoun ono under the influence of German are also described. The developmental tendencies of personal pronouns, which can be traced throughout the whole period under consideration, are particularly highlighted.
