Textile waste management in fast fashion and solutions for transition to a circular economy in the industrial company Chemosvit Fibrochem
In: Acta academica karviniensia : vědecký recenzovaný časopis. Karviná : Slezská univerzita v Opavě, Obchodně podnikatelská fakulta v Karviné, 2025. ISSN 1212-415X. Roč. 25, č. 1 (2025), s. 33-45.The textile industry is associated with negative environmental impacts due to the constant use of pesticides and polluting dyes, excessive use of water and electricity, and the release of emissions and polluting fumes into the atmosphere. Textile waste ends up in landfills or is incinerated, which posing a risk of soil, watercourses and air pollution. The increasing amount of textile waste and the lack of technologies for its recycling lead textile companies to seek alternative options for managing this type of waste and to the inevitable implementation of a circular economy. This article highlights the impacts of fast fashion and based on the results of primary research presents recommendations and possible solutions for managing the circular economy in a specific industrial enterprise
Assessing efficiency of the European banking sectors: an application of the network DEA
In: Statistika : Statistics and Economy Journal. Praha : Český statistický úřad, 2025. ISSN 0322-788X. Vol. 105, no. 2 (2025), pp. 165-177.The global financial crisis, sovereign debt crisis, Covid-19, and the invasion in Ukraine highlighted the need to optimise the production processes in banking sectors in Europe. Data Development Analysis (DEA) is a method used to evaluate the efficiency of production units and to benchmark them. It is an important part of analysing and managing the production processes. The contribution attempts to measure and compare technical efficiency scores of 26 European banking systems in 2020 and 2021 by using Network-Data Envelpment Aanalysis (N-DEA), specifically the two-stage slacked-based model (SBM) by Kaoru Tone and Miki Tsutsui (2009). The methodology of NSBM-DEA allows us to assess the efficiency scores of two sub-processes: the deposit collection process and the intermediation process that reflects the use of deposits for earning assets (loans and purchased bonds). Therefore, by NSBM-DEA the deposit collection efficiency, the intermediation proces efficiency and its overall technical efficiency can be gained. Most banking systems in Europe reveal a large inefficiency in collection of deposits and higher efficiency in intermediation of the deposits into earning assets. Our findings show that in 2020 and 2021 only 2 out of 26 European banking sectors were technically efficient in the deposit collection phase, namely Latvia and Malta. In the intermediation phase, the only France was almost technicaly efficient (99.9% in 2020 and in 2021 as well). As to the overall technical efficiency, as the best overal efficiency was reached by the banking systems of France and Germany. The result of our contribution is benefitial to policymakers, regulators, or economists that must assess the performance of the entire banking sectors. The deeper integration of the banking sectors through initiatives like the BankingUnion is inevitable.VEGA 1/0442/22 Nové DEA modely pre použitie na regulačné účely vo finančných a sieťových odvetviac
Teachers’ opinions on kindergarten admission standards: risks to toddler well-being?
In: Revija za elementarno izobraževanje = Journal of Elementary Education. Maribor : Univerza v Mariboru, 2025. ISSN 1855-4431. Vol. 18 special issue (2025), pp. 9-24.The aim of this paper is to present the opinions of teachers on the standards for admitting toddlers to kindergartens in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and to discuss these standards in relation to the risks to children’s well-being. Opinions were obtained through a quantitative survey among teachers from the Czech Republic (n=574) and Slovakia (n=593) in 2023. Results showed that most teachers do not support the admission of children under three to kindergartens. They conditionally support admission based on self-care skills, hygiene habits, and socio-emotional independence, which do not match typical toddler development, posing pressure on the child and family.KEGA 001UMB-4/2022 Tvorba podporného materiálu pre skvalitnenie podmienok výchovy a vzdelávania 2-ročných detí v materských školác

In: Studia Scientifica Facultatis Paedagogicae : Universitas Catholica Ružomberok. Ružomberok : Verbum - vydavateľstvo KU, 2025. ISSN 1336-2232. Roč. 24, č. 4 (2025), s. 90-95.The paper provides a brief view at the personalities of folklorism: Rinald Oláh and Ján Berky-Mrenica, who fundamentally influenced the perception and interpretation of folk songs in a scenic environment and the penetration of classical music into their work and vice versa.
Psycholinguistic and Technohumanistic Aspects of Translator and Interpreter Training
This monograph examines issues related to the development of translators’ professional competence in higher education institutions and is offered to interested readers. As is well known, all learning should be based on a psychological model of the desired outcome. Consequently, the first part of the monograph explores the psychological and psycholinguistic dimensions of developing and exercising professional competence in translation. The second part of the monograph examines topical issues of humantechnology coexistence using the example of online translation training in Ukrainian higher education institutions.Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia 09I03-03-V01-0014
AI in interpreting training
In: L10N journal : translation in software, software in translation. Bratislava : Stimul, 2025. ISSN 2730-0757. Vol. 4, no. 1 (2025), pp. 45-66.This paper presents a structured protocol for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into interpreter training, with a focus on ChatGPT, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech tools. It outlines a step-by-step methodology developed through practical experience and student feedback, aiming to enhance autonomous practice and real-time, detailed feedback among interpreting students. The paper contextualizes the use of AI in interpreter training by discussing the theoretical foundations of AI technologies and the evolving role of generative AI in the interpreter training process. A pedagogical framework is proposed for classroom implementation, including prompt engineering, ChatGPT-generated speech, and AI-based performance evaluation. Students’ responses highlight key benefits such as flexibility, increased practice opportunities, and personalized feedback, while also acknowledging limitations related to emotional nuance and reliability. The study concludes with recommendations for the responsible use of AI and directions for future research on adaptive interpreter training
