Bridging the gap: Toward inclusive tourism in the Banská Bystrica region of Slovakia

Vol. 6, no. 4 (2025), pp. 1-18.This study examines the accessibility of tourism facilities in the Banská Bystrica region of Slovakia for visitors with disabilities and explores the attitudes of service providers toward inclusive tourism. Accessibility remains a key challenge in developing equitable tourism services, and this research aims to evaluate the current state of barrier-free infrastructure while identifying opportunities for improvement. A survey of 45 tourism facilities was conducted to assess compliance with accessibility standards, revealing that only 22.22% of the facilities meet the required criteria. To complement these findings, structured interviews with representatives from eight facilities were carried out, with responses analyzed using ATLAS.ti software (Version 24.0.0) to visualize patterns through diagrams and Sankey networks. The results highlight significant shortcomings in physical accessibility as well as mixed attitudes of service providers toward the needs of disabled visitors. The study concludes that while awareness of inclusive practices is growing, substantial efforts are still required to improve infrastructure and foster positive engagement from service providers. Roč. 29, č. 1 (2025), s. 49-70.Shortly after the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the issues of political stability of the state, personnel and production continuity, and problems with the supply of raw materials and foodstuffs were particularly topical. The economic changes that affected Slovakia after the establishment of the new state had a significant impact on the individual regions of Slovakia. These were fundamental economic changes linked to the merger of two different economic units. The situation in Slovakia was also significantly complicated by the fighting with the Hungarian Red Army and the subsequent liberation of the country. The Banská Štiavnica region was not an exception, where industrial enterprises stopped production to a high extent and many employees lost their jobs. The development of the economic crisis and its consequences had an impact on the functioning of state and private enterprises in the town and its surroundings. No full textVysokoškolská učebnica obsahuje systematický výklad teoretických i metodologických základov verejnej politiky, so špeciálnym dôrazom na participatívne prístupy a nové formy vládnutia. Autorky vychádzajú z poznania, že verejná politika ako vedná disciplína sa v posledných desaťročiach významne transformovala – od tradičného chápania ako domény štátu a jeho orgánov až po súčasný model založený na princípoch spolupráce, transparentnosti a aktívnej účasti občanov i ďalších zainteresovaných subjektov. Učebnica sa zameriava na definovanie základných pojmov verejnej politiky, verejného vládnutia a ich historický vývoj, vymedzenie aktérov, procesu tvorby verejnej politiky, jeho fázam, problémom a najčastejších chybám. Následne sa venuje konceptu participácie, ako aj nástrojom a mechanizmom, ktoré umožňujú efektívne zapojenie verejnosti do rozhodovacích procesov. Pp. 9-9.The contribution presents results of an application of a model of central banking in deflationary conditions based on the ideas defended by Asada (2011, Central banking and deflationary depression, a Japanese perspective) and Asada et al. (2016, The stability of normal equilibrium point and the existence of limit cycles in a simple Keynesian macrodynamic model of monetary policy). The model describes the equilibrium of nominal interest rates and expected price inflation. A correspoding approximate discrete analog is derived for the continuous-time model, and is estimated by using data for the Japanese, German and Slovak economy to describe the actual conditions in which these economies operate. Mathematical properties of the estimated model for each economy separately are studied with an emphasis for their use in economic policy planning and making

Pp. 15-15.We investigate a four-dimensional non-linear Kaleckian macroeconomic model built by Murakami and Asada that describes the developments of the rate of utilization, the wage share, the nominal rate of interest, and the expected rate of inflation. In the study of the system’s behaviour near equilibrium, we focus on model's parameters that ensure the satisfaction of Liu’s criterion and provide potential for Hopf bifurcations. The bifurcation equation of the model allows us to determine the nature of local dynamics with high precision, offering insights into the conditions under which business cycles may arise. These findings are illustrated with numerical simulations, using economically meaningful parameter values to visualize how their changes influence the system's evolution. We analyse in detail the relationship between two model’s parameters - the speed of revisions of inflation-deflation expectations, that is considered a bifurcation parameter, and the credibility of the inflation-targeting policy conducted by the monetary authority. The impact of inquiry-based education in geography and biology on pupils’ skills to use graphs

Pp. 42-53.Reading, interpreting, and constructing graphs is an important skill in scientific work and an important part of scientific literacy. This competence is gradually developed in several subjects at primary schools. Many studies show that the inductive approach and integrative themes in the IBSE allow for a greater development of scientific skills than in the traditional way of teaching. The article deals with research on the influence of Inquiry-based science education on the pupils’ skills of interpretation of data presented in graphic form and on the skills of creating graphs. In our research, we examined whether the systematic implementation of appropriate enquired tasks into the biology and geography teaching process affects the development of pupils’ skills of understanding data expressed in graphs. For this purpose, we compiled our own testing tool, consisting of complex tasks focused on active work with graphs, as well as a questionnaire focused on pupils’ perception of their own graphic skills. We compared the results of pupils from seventh grade in primary school, who have been learning biology and geography in an inquiry way for almost three years, with pupils who are learning these subjects in the traditional way. Self-concept and personality factors of Slovak adolescents as predictors of their school engagement

No. 80 (2025), pp. 59-69.The aim of the study is to examine self-concept sensu Piers-Harris and personality traits sensu Big Five in the role of predictors of the construct of Slovak adolescents’ school engagement (N = 575, 15–20 years old, 52% women). Research tools: Student Engagement in School - Four Dimensional Scale/SES4DS, Adolescent Self-Concept Short Scale/ASCSS, The Mini International Item Pool/Mini IPIP. The resulting regression model explains 34% of the variability of adolescent school engagement by means of these variables (except neuroticism and extraversion), with adolescents’ self-concept sensu Piers-Harris confirmed as the strongest predictor. Príspevky sú zamerané na učenie slovenčiny, češtiny a poľštiny ako cudzích jazykov. American policy toward Taiwan and its security rationale

Biden and the influence of the Taiwan question on the current US-China relations. The objective of the article is to summarize and analyze latest developments of US Taiwan policy during Biden administration and its impact on US-China relations. We tried to focus on a brief description of the legal basis for managing relations in the context of Taiwan, defense cooperation between the US and Taiwan, the issue of strategic ambiguity, later on recent changes in US policy towards Taiwan and the events of the so-called The Fourth Taiwan Crisis. The sources we used are laws and agreements, official statements, academic articles and online media articles, authors used an analytical, descriptive and comparative scientific research methods. A few notes on the right to judicial protection within the context of the administrative judicial inquiry

Roč. 12, č. 1 (2025), s. 2-11.Posledné roky boli v justícii Slovenskej republiky poznačené o. i. aj justičnou reformou, ktorej výsledkom bola tzv. nová súdna mapa, a teda prekreslenie dovtedy poznaného justičného systému v podmienkach Slovenskej republiky. Jedna časť tejto súdnej reformy sa venovala aj správnemu súdnictvu, kde popri Najvyššom správnom súde Slovenskej republiky vznikli tri nové správne súdy v Bratislave, Banskej Bystrici a Košiciach. Týmto sa tak zavŕšila kodifikácia správneho súdnictva, a preto je vhodné venovať sa aj súdnej ochrane v kontexte správneho súdneho prieskumu, čo je aj cieľom predkladaného vedeckého článku. Autori sa v príspevku venujú právu na súdnu ochranu, pričom sa zamerajú na prípustnosť správneho súdneho prieskumu, k čomu vzniesli pár poznámok, vychádzajúc z právnej teórie a aplikačnej praxe
