Brno : Mendelova univerzita v Brně, 2025. ISBN 978-80-7701-026-9. ISSN 2336-6311. S. 90-93.Environmental degradation (climate change) continues to endanger ecosystems – making it important to understand how students; in particular, at high schools in Slovakia, view roles (their) in environmental conservation, while participating in outdoor physical activity; therefore, study (our) aims at exploring intersections of environmental awareness and behaviors in outdoor physical activity from the perspectives of high school students. 3-item survey (instrument) was carried out 4 months (September 1 – December 24, 2024), targeting 1619 (100%) students at high schools (45.03% of boys and 54.97% of girls), aged 16.60 ± 1.20 years. 51.14% (828, n) of students believed that environmental awareness in outdoor physical activity is important in terms of environmental conservation (p ˂ 0.01). 67.63% (1095, n) of students reported doing best (their) to leave as little impact on environments as possible by disposing of trash, while participating in outdoor physical activity (p ˂ 0.01). 648 (40.02%) students reported using apps (basic) that help to improve environmental awareness in outdoor physical activity (p ˂ 0.01). Students (≥ 75%) recognize the importance of environmental awareness and adopt behaviors – sustainable, in outdoor physical activity; however, there remains needs for further educational interventions to encourage wider adoption of technology-driven environmental awareness tools

In: Historica : revue pro historii a příbuzné vědy. Roč. 16, č. 1 (2025), s. 87-108. Ostrava : Ostravská univerzita v Ostravě, 2025The study deals with the problem of automatic transcription of historical handwritten documents. In the first part, the author draws attention to the Transkribus tool, which is one of the platforms that can be used for the purpose of automatic transcription of manuscripts. In the second part, the author presents his personal experience of working with this tool. Using the example of working with a manuscript, the Banská Bystrica town’s reambulatory protocol from 1820, he presents the steps of the work, starting with the import of the document, its segmentation, the training of the custom models, up to the automatic transcription and export of the transcribed document. The model trained on the transcription of the reambulatory protocol, together with the Slovak Supermodel trained on several manuscripts, is finally applied by the author to the transcription of another manuscript version of the same protocol. Finally, the author presents the results of the above-mentioned experiments and reflects on the effectiveness of the automatic transcription tool in the work of a historian.SKRIPTOR APVV-19-0456 Inovatívne sprístupnenie písomného dedičstva Slovenska prostredníctvom systému automatickej transkripcie historických rukopiso

In: Kontakt : journal of nursing and social sciences related to health and illness. České Budějovice : Jihočeská univerzita v Českých Budějovicích, 2025. ISSN 1212-4117. Roč. 27, č. 1 (2025), s. 54-61.This qualitative study examines the implementation of an empowerment approach in marginalised Roma communities from the perspective of social workers. Data from 11 semi-structured interviews were analyzed using selected analytical procedures of grounded theory, identifying the main categories: the socioeconomic background of clients (context), community needs and long-term goals (causal conditions), social support and external influences (intervening conditions), and educational projects and participation (strategic actions). The empowerment process leads to independence, sustainability, and improvement of the community environment (consequences). While social work at the micro and meso levels is crucial for the inclusion of the poorest residents of segregated Roma enclaves, significant achievements have not been made at the macro level, particularly in terms of political involvement and the fight against anti-Roma racism. The study also highlights systemic reliance on European structural funds and the lack of state support. Future research could map the perspectives and empowerment of emerging helping professionals

In: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. Bristol : IOP Publishing, 2025. ISSN 1742-6588. Vol. 2950 (2025), Pp. 1-6.Physics is the part of science where you need to work with mathematical concepts expressed by mathematical equations and graphs and understand mathematical modelling. For a clear and better understanding of physics by students, it is very important that they understand these equations and graphs. One option is to create simulations in a spreadsheet to explore physical phenomena. The aim of this paper is to show one of the possibilities of using them in inquiry-based activities focused on mechanics - uniform and non-uniform motion, periodic motion, etc. The simulations are mainly intended for a basic physics course for college students in non-physics degree programs and have been tested in an online physics course during the two academic years of the pandemic. The feedback obtained during the classes was used to finalize the simulations.KEGA 031UMB-4/2022 Celoživotné vzdelávanie učiteľov fyziky zamerané na rozvoj bádateľských kompetencií žiako

In: Agriculture through sustainability perspectives / rec. Alen Jugović, Srdjan Redzepagic ... [et al.]. 1. vyd. Rijeka : Sveučilište u Rijeci, 2025. ISBN 978-953-7813-93-2. Pp. 467-482.At the beginning of the 18th century, the area of vineyards in the territory of today's Slovakia was approximately 57,000 ha, at the end of the 20th century approximately 38,000 ha, and in 2023 it was just over 13,000 ha. The aim of the chapter is to map the situation of grapevine cultivation in Slovakia in the period from 2019 to 2023, when the National Support Program was implemented within the joint organization of the wine market. The chapter focuses on must grape varieties grown in wine-growing areas with an emphasis on the registered vineyard areas for traditional varieties and the perspective of new registered varieties. It turns out that in the conditions of the Slovak Republic, the restructuring of vineyards is a priority, as vineyards are not only productive, but also a cultural and landscape-forming element. It is necessary to invest primarily in vineyards by changing the varietal composition of the vineyard in order to plant high-quality varieties and varieties traditional for the given region, by changing the vines of the vineyard in order to plant a new vineyard with a changed vine and moving the vineyards to higher quality areas while maintaining the original area of the production vineyard. The quality of vineyard production, the share of wines with protected designation of origin and protected geographical indication, and also the competitiveness of Slovak wines should be increased

In: Frontiers in sports and active living. Lausanne : Frontiers Media S.A., 2025. ISSN 2624-9367. Vol. 7 (2025), pp. 1-8.Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between on- and off-water performance tests in canoe slalom. Methods: A total of 34 elite canoe slalom athletes, who competed in one of the following categories, namely K1 men (K1M, n = 9), K1 women (K1W, n = 8), C1 men (C1M, n = 9), or C1 women (C1W, n = 8), volunteered for the study. On-water testing consisted of two flat water tests: sprints with turns to both sides (SBS; 2 × 15 m shuttle sprints) and an all-out shuttle test (12 × 15 AOT; 12 × 15 m shuttle sprints). Off-water testing included anthropometric analyses, power output in bench press, pull measurement, and 3 × 200 m performance on a kayak ergometer. Each athlete completed testing over two consecutive days. Results: The results showed a significant relationship between the on-water tests (SBS/AOT) and body weight (kg, r = 0.472/0.478), body fat (%, r = 0.451/0.445), Pmax bench press (W, r = 0.748/0.705), Pmax bench pull (W, r = 0.704/0.693), relative Pmax bench press (W/kg, r = 0.735/0.663), relative Pmax in bench pull (W/kg, r = 0.727/0.700), ergo best 200 m (s, r = 0.851/0.884), ergo best mean 200 m (W, r = 0.902/0.922), and ergo 3 × 200 m total time (s, r = 0.842/0.884), determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Conclusion: Based on the identified relationships, we recommend regular monitoring of the physical fitness levels of canoe slalom athletes using the described off-water tests. These tests can help identify the strengths and weaknesses of athletes, enabling coaches to optimize the training process.VEGA 1/0573/22 Vzťah medzi parametrami športovo-špecifických testov motorickej výkonnosti a športovým výkonom vrcholových kanoisto

In: 14th European Vertebrate Management Conference : book of abstracts. 1. vyd. Velenje : Faculty of Environmental Protection, 2025. ISBN 978-961-94349-5-6. Pp. 148-148.European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) is the most widespread wildlife species in Germany and therefore a subject of hunting in nearly all habitats. Due to its importance, forest owners and hunters are interested in successful hunting regimes, which depend on their respective objectives. However, objectives of forest owners and hunters are not always in accordance and sometimes even oppositional. Hunters are often confused by old traditions and beliefs. Furthermore, hunting regimes often contradict current scientific knowledge of wildlife biology and ecology – as well as the hunters’ objectives. In addition, most forest owners are not educated in forest sciences and thus do not have sufficient knowledge of silviculture, forest products, and forest damage in their ownership. The goal of this contribution is to compare different trials of hunting regimes taking into account recent scientific studies and to present conclusions for wildlife management and roe deer hunting
