Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Toplum Yanlısı ve Saldırgan Davranışlar ile İlişkili Bireysel ve Sosyal Etmenler
Bu çalışmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin toplum yanlısı ve saldırgan davranışları ile ilişkili bireysel ve sosyal etmenlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya 429 üniversite öğrencisi katılım sağlamıştır. Olumlu Sosyal Davranışlar ve Saldırganlık Ölçeği ile katılımcıların toplum yanlısı ve saldırgan davranışları gösterme düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Yetişkinler İçin Psikolojik Dayanıklılık Ölçeği bireysel ve sosyal etmenlerin düzeylerini belirlemek için kullanılmıştır. Değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler t-testi, korelasyon analizi ve çoklu regresyon analizi yapılarak incelenmiştir. Kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre daha fazla toplum yanlısı davranışta ve daha az saldırgan davranışta bulundukları belirlenmiştir. Regresyon analizleri benlik algısının, sosyal yeterliliğin, aile ve arkadaşlar ile ilişkilerin niteliğinin toplum yanlısı davranışların pozitif yordayıcıları olduklarını göstermiştir. Benliğe ve geleceğe ilişkin algıların, aile uyumunun, aile ve arkadaş ilişkilerinin saldırgan davranışları negatif yönde yordadıkları bulunmuştur. Araştırma bulguları genç yetişkinlik döneminin sosyal ve duygusal özellikleri ile ilişkili olarak değerlendirilmiştir. İleride yapılacak araştırmalar ve üniversite öğrencilerine yönelik eğitsel çalışmalar için öneriler sunulmuştur
Protective Effects Of<i> Rubus</I><i> Tereticaulis</I> Leaves Ethanol Extract on Rats With Ulcerative Colitis and Bio-Guided Isolation of Its Active Compounds: a Combined <i>in Silico</I>, <i>in Vitro</I> and <i>in Vivo</I> Study

Rats with colitis induced via intra-rectal acetic acid administration (5%, v/v) received RTME or sulfasalazine for three consecutive days. On day four, all rats were decapitated, and the colonic tissue samples were collected for macroscopic score, colon weight, reduced glutathione (GSH), myeloperoxidase (MPO), and malondialdehyde (MDA) analyses. The active compounds and chemical composition of RTME were determined by bio-guided isolation and LC-MS/MS, respectively. Compared to the colitis group, the rats treated with RTME displayed significantly lowered macroscopic scores and colon wet weights (p < 0.001). These effects were confirmed biochemically by a decrease in colonic MPO activity (p < 0.001), MDA levels (p < 0.001), and an increase in GSH levels (p < 0.001). Kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucuronide (RT1) and quercetin-3-O-beta-D-glucuronide (RT2) were found to be the major compounds of RTME, as evidenced by in vitro anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity-guided isolation. Their anti-inflammatory/antioxidant activities were also predicted by docking simulations. Additionally, quinic acid, 5-caffeoylquinic acid, quercetin pentoside, quercetin glucoside, quercetin3-O-beta-D-glucuronide, kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucuronide, and kaempferol rutinoside were identified in RTME via using LC-MS/MS. RT2, along with other compounds, may be responsible for the observed protective action of RTME against colitis. Bir Tiyoeter-triazol Hibriti: Güçlü Metap2 Inhibitörü ve Prostat Kanseri için In Vivo Tümör Baskılayıcı Bileşiğin In Silico Çalışmaları ve In Vitro Mikrozomal Metabolizması
Arka plan/amaç: Antikanser bir ilaç adayı bileşik olan ( S)-3-((2,4,6-trimetilfenil)tiyo)-4-(4-florofenil)-5-(1-(6-metoksinaftalen-2-)il) etil)-4H-1,2,4-triazol (SGK636), bileşiğinin in vitro mikrozomal metabolizması çalışılmış ve potansiyel S-oksidasyon ve S-dealkilasyon metabolitlerini belirlemek için NADPH ile güçlendirilmiş domuz mikrozomal preparatları kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu çalışmada, sülfoksit metaboliti kromatografik ve spektroskopik yöntemlerle sentezlenmiş, saflaştırılmış ve karakterize edilmiştir. SGK636, S-oksidasyon ve S-dealkilasyon metabolitleri daha sonra ters fazlı bir LC-MS, UV spektroskopisi ve bir HP-TLC sistemi ile ayrılmıştır. In vitro mikrozomal metabolik deneylerin sonuçları, SGK636’nın, aynı Rt ve Rfx100 değerleri ve UV/ ile LC-MS, LC-MS/MS ve HP-TLC tarafından gözlemlenen karşılık gelen S-oksidasyon metabolitini (sülfoksit) ürettiğini göstermiştir. Otantik bileşiklerle karşılaştırıldığında MS spektrumlarında, herhangi bir S-dealkilasyon metaboliti tespit edilmemiştir. Bulgular: Mevcut sonuçlar moleküler doking ve moleküler dinamik çalışmalarla kanıtlanmıştır. Sülfoksidasyon işlemi tersine çevrilebilir olduğundan ve deneyimizdeki düşük miktarda sülfoksit metabolitini kısmen açıklayabildiğinden, sülfoksit bileşiği de inkübe edilmiştir. Substrata (SGK636) geri dönüşüm gözlenmemiş olup, karşılık gelen sülfon metabolitinin oluştuğu gözlenmiştir. SGK636’nın otooksidize olup olmadığını belirlemek için substrat ayrıca standart inkübasyon koşulları altında tampon içinde inkübe edilmiştir, ancak karşılık gelen sülfoksitte herhangi bir oto-oksidasyon gözlenmemiştir. Sülfona herhangi bir olası otooksidasyonu veya tekrar SGK636’ya indirgemeyi görmek için tampondaki SGK636-SO (sülfoksit) için bir stabilite çalışması da yapılmıştır. Her iki şekilde de dönüşüm gözlemlenmemiştir. Substrat, farmakolojik aktivitesi açısından bir avantaj olabilecek metabolik reaksiyonlara ve otooksidasyona karşı kararlı görünmektedir. Sonuç: Mevcut metabolik çalışma, SGK 636’nın S-oksidasyonuna uğradığını göstermektedir. Sorumlu oksidatif enzimi belirlemek için moleküler yerleştirme ve moleküler dinamik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. CYP3A4’ün S-oksidasyonundan sorumlu enzim olduğu bulunmuştur
An Evaluation of a Web-Based Crisis Management Training Program for Nurse Managers: the Case of the Covid-19 Crisis
Objective: The effective management of nursing services, the main power in patients’ care and treatment in the front line of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and nurse managers’ effective leadership behaviors in the fight against the pandemic have been important key factors. It is thus critical to support nurse managers, strengthen them through training, and increase their competency so that they can successfully manage crises, disasters, or pandemics. This study aims to assess the effect of a web-based training program on the knowledge levels of nurse managers who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a randomized controlled experimental study. The study population consisted of the members of the Nurse Managers Association. The intervention group had 30 participants, and the control group had 31 participants in the final. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the intervention and control groups’ mean number of correct pre-test responses (P = 0.843). However, the intervention group’s mean number of correct post-test responses was statistically significantly higher than the control group’s after the web-based training program (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Web-based training programs can effectively increase nurse managers’ knowledge levels. Therefore, web-based training programs should be developed in ordinary times for the management of crisis situations. © The Author(s), 2023. Psychometrics of Job Stress-Related Presenteeism Scale Among Turkish Nurses
BEKLEMIS, Nihal/0000-0002-5079-9602Presenteeism occurs when workers are present at work but with diminished work capacity due to illness, stress, or other causes. Recent studies report that nursing is one of the leading professional groups experiencing presenteeism. Although studies of illness-related presenteeism predominate, fewer studies have investigated stress-related presenteeism. Nurses in Turkey are particularly vulnerable to stress-related presenteeism because of the country's low nurse-to-patient ratio. A scale for measuring presenteeism from job stress - the Job-Stress-Related-Presenteeism Scale-has been developed but not validated. This study had two objectives: to adapt the Job-Stress-Related-Presenteeism Scale to Turkish to use in measuring of presenteeism from job stress among nurses; and to assess the scale's validity. We conducted a cross-sectional study to test the content validity, construct validity, reliability, and stability of a Turkish version of the Job-Stress-Related Presenteeism Scale on a sample of 261 nurses. The content validity index of the Job-Stress-Related Presenteeism Scale was .65. Item-total score correlation values varied between .44 and .77. The confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the six-item, one-factor construct. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was .86. Results indicated that our adapted version of the Job-Stress-Related Presenteeism Scale is valid and suitable for use in Turkey.Science Citation Index Expanded - Social Science Citation Inde
Case Report of Rare Tissue Injury and Left Arm Dislocation After Incorrect Blood Pressure Measurement During Clinical Practice
In midwifery education based on theoretical and practical foundations, students encounter midwifery profession education which based on for the first time in the Basic Clinical Skills in Midwifery Course. The aim of the Basic Clinical Skills in Midwifery Course is to help students understand the basic philosophy of midwifery and the role of the midwife in the health system, and to provide the student with knowledge, skills and attitudes about the basic concepts, principles and methods in midwifery care. In the Basic Clinical Skills in Midwifery Course, students are offered learning methods that will enable them to develop behaviors in the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. In this context, the course is carried out in skill development laboratories and clinical environments, after the lecturer in the classroom explains the basic concepts, the health system and midwifery, the protection and development of health, the fulfillment of physiological care needs, and the demonstration of the skills related to the psychomotor domain. Clinical practices are an indispensable element of midwifery education. The Midwifery Basic Clinical Skills Course has a very important place in clinical skills training, as students experience the hospital environment for the first time in their education life and experience midwifery practices for the first time on real patients. The Psychometric Properties of the Figure-Of Walk Test in People With Parkinson's Disease
Gulsen, Cagri/0000-0001-5830-438X; Erkoc Ataoglu, Esra/0000-0001-5465-6089Purpose To investigate: (1) the interrater, and test-retest reliability of the figure-of-eight walk test (F8WT) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD); (2) the minimum detectable change in the F8WT times; (3) the concurrent and known-groups validity of the F8WT times; and (4) the cut-off times that best discriminate PwPD from healthy people and fallers from non-fallers with PD. Methods This was a cross-sectional study. Forty-three PwPD and 34 healthy people were recruited. The F8WT was performed along with the timed up and go test, 10 m walk test, Berg Balance Scale, Activities-Specific Balance Confidence Scale, Unified Parkinson's disease Rating Scale, and Hoehn and Yahr Scale. Results The F8WT showed good interrater and test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.964-0.978 and ICC = 0.905-0.920, respectively). The MDC was 2.77 s. The F8WT was correlated with other outcome measures. Significant differences in the F8WT times were found between PwPD and healthy people and between fallers and non-fallers with PD (p < 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). The cut-off times of 8.43 s best discriminated PwPD from healthy people, while 11.19 s best discriminated fallers from non-fallers with PD. Conclusions The F8WT is a reliable, valid, and easy-to-administer tool in assessing the walking skill of PwPD.Science Citation Index Expanded - Social Science Citation Inde
Hepatoprotective Effects of Parsley (petroselinum Crispum) Extract in Rats With Bile Duct Ligation
ERTIK, Onur/0000-0001-5437-3513; Sener, Goksel/0000-0001-7444-6193Background and study aims: This study aimed to investigate the possible protective effects of parsley extract (Petroselinum Crispum; PC) against oxidative liver damage caused by bile obstruction in rats. Material and methods: Bile duct ligation (BDL) method was used to induce liver injury in rats. The rats were divided into the three groups each consisting of 8 rats; Sham-operated control (C), bile duct ligated + saline treated (BDL), and BDL + PC treated groups. PC extract was given at a dose of 2 g/kg orally for 28 days. Aspartate amino transferase (AST), alanin amino transferase (ALT), and bilirubin levels were analyzed in sera. In order to determine free radicals in liver injury, luminol and lucigenin chemiluminescence tests used. Oxidative stress was evaluated through superoxide dismutase, glutathione, malondialdehyde, Na+/K+-ATPase and 8-hydroxy guanosine levels. Furthermore, inflammation marker myeloperoxidase, apoptosis marker caspase-3, and fibrosis markers TGF- beta and hydoxyproline were investigated. The liver tissues were also examined for histological evaluations.Results: While PC treatment decreased AST and ALT levels which increased with BDL, oxidant damage parameters also decreased with this treatment. Conclusion: The present study, which is the first research for PC extract on cholestasis induced liver damage, demonstrated that PC extract could be a potential therapeutic agent against liver fibrosis and need further studies.Science Citation Index Expande
Panax Ginseng Extract Ameliorates Methotrexate-Induced Multi-Organ Damage Via the Regulation of Oxidative Stress
Oxidative damage plays an important role in organ toxicities caused by methotrexate (MTX). This study aimed to determine the antioxidant effects of Panax ginseng (PxG) extract against MTX-induced liver, lung, ileum and kidney damage. Twenty-four Sprague Dawley male rats (weight 250-300 g) were used in the study. The animals were randomly separated into three groups: a) Control, b) MTX-treated (MTX) and c) MTX+PxG-treated (MTX+PxG) groups. MTX was administered intraperitoneally at 20 mg/kg, as a single dose to MTX and MTX+PxG groups. PxG was administered orally at 100 mg/kg to the MTX+PxG group for five days. Saline was given to the control and MTX groups for 5 days. At the end of the experiment, liver, lung, ileum, and kidney samples were obtained. Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) levels, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and tissue factor (TF) activities were determined in all tissues. In addition, histological examinations were done through light microscopy. GraphPad Prism 5v. was used for statistics, and p<0.05 were considered significant. Administration of MTX caused severe injury in tissues. Findings showed that MDA level, SOD, and GST activities were significantly normalized in the MTX+PxG group compared to the control group. A significant reduction in GSH level observed in the MTX group was reversed with PxG administration In addition, TF activity and total protein levels were found to be impaired in the MTX group, but TF activity was significantly improved in liver and lung tissues and total protein level was significantly reversed in lung and ileum in MTX+PxG group. The results of histological examinations showed that MTX-induced damage was ameliorated with the PxG administration. In conclusion, this study shows that Panax ginseng, thanks to its antioxidant properties, reversed MTX-induced tissue damage and therefore may be beneficial against side effects in patients undergoing chemotherapy
Comparison of <i>in Vitro</I> Antifungal Activity Methods Using Extract of Chitinase-Producing <i>aeromonas</I> Sp. Bhc02
CADIRCI, Bilge/0000-0003-1525-9608Biological control to prevent fungal plant diseases offers an alternative approach to facilitate sustainable agriculture. Since the chitin in fungal cell walls is a target for biocontrol agents, chitinases are one of the important antifungal molecules. In this study, the aim was to investigate a new chitinase isolated from a fluvial soil bacterium and to show the antifungal activity of the characterized chitinase by comparing the three common methods. The bacterium with the highest chitinase activity was identified as Aeromonas sp. by 16 S rRNA sequence analysis. Following the determination of the optimum enzyme production time, the enzyme was partially purified, and the physicochemical parameters of the enzyme were investigated. In the antifungal studies, direct Aeromonas sp. BHC02 cells or partially purified chitinase were used. As a result, in the first method in which the Aeromonas sp. BHC02 cells were spread on the surface of petri dishes, no zone formation was observed around the test fungi spotted on the surface. However, zone formation was observed in the methods in which the antifungal activity was investigated using the partially purified chitinase enzyme. For example, in the second method, the enzyme was spread on the surface of PDA, and zone formation was observed only around Penicillum species among the test fungi spotted on the surface. In the third method, in which the necessary time was given for the formation of mycelium of the test fungi, it was observed that the growth of Fusarium solani, Alternaria alternata and Botrytis cinerea was inhibited by the partially purified chitinase. This study concludes that the results of the antifungal activities depend on the method used and all fungal chitins cannot be degraded with one strain's chitinase.
