    Modeling the Mood State on Thermal Sensation With a Data Mining Algorithm and Testing the Accuracy of Mood State Correction Factor

    OZBEY, Mehmet Furkan/0000-0002-5813-3514Psychology is proven as an influencing factor on thermal sensation. On the other hand, mood state is one of the significant parameters in psychology field. To this aim, in the literature, mood state correction factor on thermal sensation (Turhan and Ozbey coefficients) is derived utilizing with data-driven black-box model. However, novel models which present analytical form of the mood state correction factor should be derived based on the several descriptive variables on thermal sensation. Moreover, the result of this factor should also be checked with analytical model results. Therefore, this study investigates the modelling of mood state correction factor with a data mining algorithm, called Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS). Additionally, the mood state is also taken as a thermal sensation parameter besides environmental parameters in this algorithm. The same data, which are collected from a university study hall in a temperate climate zone, are used and the model results are compared with the thermal sensation results based on mood state correction factor which is driven via black-box model. The results show that coefficient of correlation "r" between the MARS and black-box model is found as 0.9426 and 0.9420 for training and testing.     Cross-Cultural Data on Romantic Love and Mate Preferences From 117,293 Participants Across 175 Countries

To address the limited generalizability of previous research and advance our understanding of romantic love experiences, mate preferences, and physical attractiveness, we conducted a large-scale cross-cultural survey study on these topics. A total of 404 researchers collected data in 45 languages from April to August 2021, involving 117,293 participants from 175 countries. Aside from standard demographic questions, the survey included valuable information on variables relevant to romantic relationships: intimate, passionate, and committed love within romantic relationships, physical-attractiveness enhancing behaviors, gender equality endorsement, collectivistic attitudes, personal history of pathogenic diseases, relationship quality, jealousy, personal involvement in sexual and/or emotional infidelity, relational mobility, mate preferences, and acceptance of sugar relationships.     Comparative Analysis of Space Efficiency in Skyscrapers With Prismatic, Tapered, and Free Forms

    ASLANTAMER, Ozlem Nur/0000-0001-7776-607XThis study offers a thorough comparative analysis of space efficiency in skyscrapers across three distinct forms: prismatic, tapered, and free. By examining case studies from each form category, this research investigates how architectural and structural design features impact space utilization in supertall towers. The findings reveal form-based differences in space efficiency and design element usage. In prismatic skyscrapers, which are primarily residential and utilize concrete outrigger frames, the average space efficiency was around 72%, with the core occupying 24% of the gross floor area (GFA). Tapered skyscrapers, commonly mixed-use with composite outrigger frames, showed an average space efficiency of over 70%, with a core-to-GFA ratio of 26%. Freeform towers, often mixed-use and using composite outrigger frames, demonstrated a space efficiency of 71%, with an average core-to-GFA ratio of 26%. Despite these variations, a consistent trend emerged: as the height of a building increases, there is a general decline in space efficiency, highlighting the challenges in optimizing space in taller structures. This analysis adds to the understanding of skyscraper design and space utilization, providing important insights for architects and urban planners aiming to improve the efficiency of future high-rise developments.Science Citation Index Expande

    Deneyimsel Pazarlama Yaklaşımı: Ankara'da Otel İşletmeleri Üzerine bir Araştırma

    Rekabetin hızla yaşandığı günümüzde müşterilerin istek ve beklentilerinin değişmesi işletmeleri de farklı hizmet sunmaya yöneltmektedir. Böyle bir durumda işletmeler de rakiplerine karşı öne çıkabilmek için pazarlama faaliyetlerinde farklılaşma yolunu tercih etmişlerdir. Bu pazarlama faaliyetlerinden biri de deneyimsel pazarlamadır. Deneyimsel pazarlamanın önemini anlayan turizm işletmeleri de eşsiz benzersiz deneyim sunmaya yönelik pazarlama faaliyetleri için çabalamaktadır. Bu nedenle Ankara'da bulunan 4 ve 5 yıldızlı otel işlemelerinde müşterilere sunulan deneyim boyutlarını belirlemek, deneyim boyutlarının müşteri memnuniyeti ve müşteri sadakati üzerindeki etkisini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın evrenini Ankara'da yer alan 4 ve 5 yıldızlı otel işletmelerinde konaklayan yerli ve yabancı müşteriler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada 56 otel işletmesinin misafirlerine çıkış esnasında anket yapılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verileri değerlendirmek için BM SPSS 28 ve R programı (R Core Team, 2023) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın analizinde Mann-Whitney U, Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis H, Dunn testleri ve yol analizi tekniklerinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, müşteri deneyim boyutlarından estetik, eğlence, ergonomiklik, sosyal etkileşim, sosyal tatmin ve eğitim boyutlarının müşteri memnuniyeti üzerinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yine müşteri deneyimi boyutlarından estetik, ergonomiklik, alturistik, sosyal etkileşim, sosyal tatmin ve eğitim boyutlarının müşteri sadakati üzerinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır.In today's fast-paced competition, the changing of customers' wishes and expectations lead enterprises to offer different services. In such a situation, businesses have also preferred the way of differentiation in their marketing activities in order to stand out against their competitors. One of these marketing activities is experiential marketing. Tourism enterprises that figured out the importance of experiential marketing are also striving for marketing activities aimed at providing a unique unique experience. Therefore, with this research, it is aimed to determine the experience dimensions offered to customers in 4- and 5-star hotel transactions in Ankara and to investigate the effect of experience dimensions on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. The universe of the research consists of domestic and foreign customers staying in 4- and 5-star hotel establishments located in Ankara. In the research, a survey was conducted for the guests of 56 hotel establishments during check-out. BM SPSS 28 and R program (R Core Team, 2023) were used to evaluate the data obtained in the research. Mann-Whitney U, ShapiroWilk, Kruskal-Wallis H, Dunn tests and path analysis techniques were used in the analysis of the research. As a result of the research, it was determined that aesthetic, entertainment, ergonomics, social interaction, social satisfaction and education dimensions of customer experience dimensions have a statistically significant effect on customer satisfaction. Again, it has been revealed that aesthetic, ergonomics, alturistics, social interaction, social satisfaction and education dimensions from customer experience dimensions have a statistically significant effect on customer loyalty

    Patients With Crush Syndrome and Kidney Disease: Lessons Learned From the Earthquake in Kahramanmaras,, Türkiye

    Hasbal, Nuri Baris/0000-0002-2229-5140; TUGLULAR, ZUBEYDE SERHAN/0000-0002-6384-1697This study investigated in-hospital outcomes and related factors in patients diagnosed with postearthquake crush syndrome after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras,, T & uuml;rkiye. One thousand twenty-four adult patients diagnosed with crush syndrome were analyzed. and outcomes were collected. A total of 9.8% of patients died during their hospital stay. Nonsurvivors were generally older, more likely to have preexisting chronic kidney disease, and faced more severe injuries and complications, including hypotension-shock, arrhythmias, elevated markers of renal dysfunction, and higher rates of acute kidney injury (AKI) and compartment syndrome. In addition, intensive care unit needs were higher. Multivariate analysis confirmed that age, injury severity, shock, high potassium, uric acid, and lactate levels on admission, development of AKI, compartment syndrome, and intensive care unit admission were significant predictors of mortality. Better disaster preparedness and improved health care infrastructure could be potential explanations for improved in-hospital mortality in the current era, as compared to previous earthquakes.Science Citation Index Expande

    Exploring the Impact of Landscape Design on User Preferences in Shopping Centers Post the Covid-19 Pandemic

    This study explores the impact of landscape design, which has gained importance alongside architectural changes in shopping centers, and investigates preferences in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era. Although e-commerce has increased during the pandemic, research and societal behaviors suggest that shopping centers will continue to serve as contemporary agoras due to their socialization and leisure functions. However, in response to the pandemic, it is anticipated that newly designed shopping centers will be architecturally conceived as semi-outdoor or outdoor spaces, regardless of climate conditions. This transformation will involve the softening of rigid appearances through landscape elements, making them both ecologically and psychologically sustainable. The number of studies on this subject is limited. To address this knowledge gap, an online survey was conducted with 586 randomly selected users across nine shopping centers located in three major cities of Turkey: Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, with three shopping centers in each city. The survey investigated users' preferences for architectural styles (indoor, semi-outdoor, or outdoor) and landscape design in shopping centers. The findings of the study indicate that post-pandemic, outdoor and semi-outdoor shopping centers are likely to be preferred more frequently. An emphasis is likely to be placed on natural landscape elements such as plants and water features in landscape design. Furthermore, shopping center designs are likely to become simpler, offering comfortable and spacious navigation areas while optimizing parking and transportation conditions. This study is expected to shed light on decision-making processes for future shopping centers. By incorporating consumer preferences, architects can enhance the sustainability of shopping center investments through next-generation design

    Short-Term Effectiveness of Epidermis Dermis Fascia Kinesiotaping Technique in Myofascial Pain Syndrome on Upper Trapezius: A Multi-Center, Double-Blind, Randomized Clinical Study

    Objectives: This study aims to investigate the efficacy of epidermis dermis fascia (EDF) kinesiotaping (KT) technique on pain intensity, number of active trigger points (TrPs), cervical range of motion (ROM) angles, and disability levels in patients with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) on upper trapezius (UT) muscle. Patients and methods: Between January 2019 and January 2020, a total of 180 patients (21 males, 159 females; mean age: 35.9±9.0 years; range, 18 to 56 years) with MPS were included. The patients were randomized into either KT with EDF technique (Group 1) or sham KT (Group 2). Outcome measures were Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain score, number of active TrPs, cervical ROM angles, and Neck Pain Disability Scale (NPDS). Results: Both groups improved in terms of all outcome parameters except for cervical flexion and extension angles in Group 2. The VAS pain scores significantly decreased in Group 1 (p<0.05), compared to Group 2. The number of active TrPs (p=0.001) and NPDS scores (p=0.016) of Group 1 significantly improved than Group 2. Cervical flexion (p=0.001), extension (p=0.001), and left and right lateral flexion angles (p<0.0001) significantly improved in Group 1. Cervical left (p=0.001) and right (p<0.0001) lateral flexion angles significantly improved in Group 2. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding cervical ROM angles. Conclusion: Our study results suggest that KT with the EDF technique is an effective method in reducing pain and number of active TrPs, improving disability and cervical ROM angles

    A Study on the Dark and Illuminated Operation of Al/Si<sub>3< Schottky Photodiodes: Optoelectronic Insights

    SURUCU, Ozge/0000-0002-8478-1267This work extensively investigates the operation of an Al/ Si3N4/p-Si Schottky-type photodiode under dark and varying illumination intensities. The photodiode is fabricated by employing the metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method. A thorough electrical characterization is performed at room temperature, encompassing measurements of current-voltage (I-V), current-time (I-t), capacitance-time (C-t), and conductance time (G-t). The photodiode's rectification factor and reverse bias area increased under illumination. The relationship between light power density, barrier height, and diode ideality factor is found. The study also found a strong correlation between light intensity and applied voltage on series resistance (R-s) and shunt resistance (R-sh). R-s values are calculated using Cheung's functions, revealing the diode's resistance behavior. The study also examines the photodiode's photoconductivity and photoconductance, finding a non-linear relationship between photocurrent and illumination intensity, suggesting bimolecular recombination. Calculated photosensitivity (K), responsivity (R), and detectivity (D*) values show the device's light response effectiveness, but efficiency decreases at higher illumination intensities. Transient experiments indicate stable and reproducible photocurrent characteristics, revealing photogenerated charge temporal evolution. This study provides a complete understanding of the Al/Si3N4/p-Si Schottky photodiode's behavior under different illumination intensities.     This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the clinical investigations, pharmacological effects, and characteristics of quinone and quinone derivatives, along with references to pertinent sources. Although quinones have an oxygen group in their structure, they are quickly oxidized and interact with reactive oxygen species. This demonstrates how quinones work as drugs. Quinones and their derivatives are used as medications to treat a wide range of diseases, including cancer, lung, kidney, brain, and tumor disorders.
