Corporate Social Responsibility Communication of Banks in the First Days of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Turkey
The purpose of this study is to examine corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication and the waysthe pandemic changed CSR communication of banks on social media at the beginning of the COVID-19pandemic in Turkey. A content analysis was made on the Facebook accounts of the biggest public, private, and foreign-owned retail banks in Turkey. The findings have shown that banks have increased their overalland health-related CSR communication during the pandemic. Besides, it was found that each bank had itsunique CSR approach and shifted its CSR activities online. Messages with CSR content got a higher numberof consumer comments than non-CSR messages. Customer interaction levels differed significantly amongmessages that included different CSR content such as health and society. This study reflects Turkish banks’CSR communication on social media, presents comparative results for crisis and non-crisis periods, andprovides analysis results about CSR communication during the pandemic. Besides, it is among the firststudies that examine the financial institutions’ social media marketing communication related to theCOVID-19 pandemic. The findings of this study may help marketing managers in designing their marketingstrategies in crisis times

Acoustic Cavitation Model Based on a Novel Reduced Order Gas Pressure Law
The thermal behavior of a spherical gas bubble in a liquid excited by an acoustic pressure signal is investigated by constructing an iterative solution of the energy balance equations between the gas bubble and the surrounding liquid in the uniform pressure approximation. This iterative solution leads to hierarchy equations for the radial partial derivatives of the temperature at the bubble wall, which control the temporal rate of change of the gas pressure and gas temperature within the bubble. In particular, a closure relation for the hierarchy equations is introduced based on the ansatz that approximates the rapid change of state during the collapse of the bubble from almost isothermal to almost adiabatic behavior by time averaging the complex dynamics of change of state over a relatively short characteristic time. This, in turn, leads to the desired reduced order gas pressure law exhibiting power law dependence on the bubble wall temperature and on the bubble radius, with the polytropic index depending on the isentropic exponent of the gas and on a parameter that is a function of the Péclet number and a characteristic time scale. Results of the linear theory for gas bubbles are recovered by identifying this parameter as a function of the Péclet number based on the Minnaert frequency. The novel gas pressure law is then validated against the near-isothermal solution and against the results of the numerical simulations of the original energy balance equations for large amplitude oscillations using spectral methods. Consequently, an acoustic cavitation model that accounts for phase change but that neglects mass diffusion is constructed by employing the reduced order gas pressure law together with the Plesset–Zwick solution for the bubble wall temperature and the Keller–Miksis equation for spherical bubble dynamics. Results obtained using variable interface properties for acoustically driven cavitation bubbles in water show that the time variations of the bubble radius and the bubble wall temperature lie between those obtained by the isothermal and adiabatic laws depending on the value of the Péclet number and the characteristic time scale
Nato and Public Diplomacy: Opportunities and Constraints of 21st Century
The main objective of this paper is to explain and interpret the evolution of NATO’s public diplomacy efforts in terms of the opportunities and limi- tations of today’s globalized environment. Public diplomacy refers to the efforts of states and non-state actors to better explain their values to the world. It concentrates particularly on “soft power” tools, such as science, art, culture, sports and media that enable interaction between societies. Because NATO is widely associated with security and defense issues, it is important to understand how it responds to the developments of today’s diplomatic trends with its own public diplomacy and communication ac- tivities. As technology continues to change and evolve, NATO’s commu- nication strategies have faced new types of networks and platforms. Now celebrating its 72nd anniversary, the Alliance seeks to embrace and imple- ment a contemporary communication policy with new mechanisms. Within this framework, this paper will provide a definition of the concept of public diplomacy, and explore the historical evolution of NATO’s public diploma- cy agenda. NATO’s coordination activities and values, practical means of communication and their expected impact will be discussed
Assessment of the Models for Predicting the Responses of Spherical Objects in Viscoelastic Mediums and at Viscoelastic Interfaces
Spherical objects, such as bubbles and spheres, embedded in mediums and atviscoelastic interfaces are encountered in many applications, including the determination ofmaterial properties. This paper assesses the models for predicting the responses of sphericalobjects in viscoelastic mediums and at viscoelastic interfaces used in various applications. Themodels are presented very compactly, and evaluations are performed based on the analyses ofthe models for the spherical objects in viscoelastic mediums and at viscoelastic interfaces. First, the models for predicting the static displacements of spherical objects are presented andassessed. After that, the models for predicting the dynamic responses of spherical objects arepresented and their dynamic behaviours are compared. Then, the models for the deformation ofthe medium around spherical objects and stress distribution are presented and evaluated. Themodels and evaluations presented in this study can be exploited in various applications, including biomedical applications
Should I Invite Them? Bystanders' Inclusivity Judgements Towards Outgroup Victims and Ingroup Bullies in Intergroup Bullying
This study examined bystanders' judgements of bullying and their inclusivity towards refugee victims and ingroup bully peers. Participants included 587 Turkish adolescents (M-age = 13.14, SD = 1.60) who were presented with two stories: intergroup (Syrian refugee victim) and intragroup (Turkish victim) bullying. They indicated acceptability of bullying, retaliation, and how likely they would be to include victims and bullies in different social contexts. Empathy, prejudice, desired social distance, and peer norms towards Syrian refugees were examined as predictors. Adolescents in schools with a higher number of Syrian peers were more likely to expect they would include the Syrian victim than adolescents in schools with a lower number of Syrian peers. Further, adolescents with higher empathy were more likely to include the Syrian victim while adolescents with higher prejudice and desired social distance were less likely to include the Syrian victim. The results highlight the importance of attending to bystanders' future interactions with victims and bullies, as bystanders have the opportunity to challenge injustice by promoting inclusive school climates in diverse societies.
