A Woolf of Her Own: Distributed Biographical Cognition in Alison Bechdel’s ''Are You My Mother?''
International audienceAlison Bechdel’s work might essentially be seen as autobiographical, but one can find various levels of nonfiction in it and some of these levels are openly biographical or biofictional. Indeed, autobiographers enlist multifarious forms of testimonies, unacknowledged most of the time, but in the case of Bechdel’s autobiographical work, it conjures up major cultural figures such as Marcel Proust in Fun Home (2006), Virginia Woolf in Are You My Mother? (2012) or Jack Kerouac in The Secret of Superhuman Strength (2021). The author’s intent here is not to corroborate any facts about Bechdel’s own life, but to reflect upon it by drawing parallels with the lives of great artists in order to clarify but also complexify aspects of her life narrative. Bechdel’s own approach in Are You My Mother? that I will study in this article offers a different, multifaced form of biography: the life of the Other, Virginia Woolf, as an echo of her own life. Throughout, I will focus both on the textual and the visual dimension of Bechdel’s way of integrating the biographical into the autobiographical
Surface Analysis of TiNb <sub>2</sub> O <sub>7</sub> /Electrolyte Interface in Half-Cells: Influence of Cut-Off Voltage and Temperature
International audienceTiNb 2 O 7 (TNO) is a promising anode material for Li-ion batteries due to its high theoretical capacity, high-rate capability, and elevated lithiation voltage, making it suitable for high-power applications. This study investigates the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) evolution at the TNO/electrolyte interface in Li half-cells cycled under various cutoff voltages (1.2 and 0.8 V vs Li + /Li 0 ) and temperatures (25 and 60 °C), using mainly X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). The best electrochemical performance was obtained for 1.2 V and 25 °C, with 93% capacity retention after 50 cycles. This condition led to a thin but dynamic SEI layer, initially rich in Li 2 CO 3 and LiF, with additional organic species (ROCO 2 Li) forming over cycling. Lowering the cutoff voltage to 0.8 V led to a reduced capacity retention (70%), attributed to pronounced SEI growth primarily due to solvent decomposition, along with possible structural degradation of TNO electrode. Increasing the cycling temperature to 60 °C induced a sharp capacity drop after 10 cycles, with 65% capacity retention after 50 cycles. This degradation is attributed to enhanced salt decomposition and reactions between LiPF 6 and carbonate species, leading to an increase in LiF and phosphate species on TNO surface.</div

Agro-STAY: Data collection and analysis of alternative agriculture practices from YouTube
Source Agritrop Cirad (https://agritrop.cirad.fr/615829/)International audienceTo address the current crises (climatic, social, economic), the self-sufficiency - a set of practices that combine energy sobriety, self-production of food and energy, and self-construction - arouses an increasing interest. The CNRS STAY project (Savoirs Techniques pour l'Auto-suffisance sur YouTube) explores this topic by analyzing techniques shared on YouTube. We present Agro-STAY, a platform designed for the collection, processing, querying and visualization of data from YouTube videos and their comments. We propose a full methodology dedicated to processing YouTube videos, and apply Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and language models, which enable a fine-grained analysis of alternative agricultural practices described online. In addition, we provide a well-adapted graphical user interface to help the experts analyzing the extracted knowledge

International audienceThe communication proposes to analyze the "historical" content conveyed by the popular French comics of the 1970s. Will be reviewed as varied as the small format comics like "fumetti" (13x18: Sergent Gorille, Rapaces, Garry, Attack, etc.), the magazines Spirou and Pif Gadget, or even the supple albums offered by oil companies. The last part of the presentation will be devoted to a short analysis of the series "History of France", that is 24 monthly "flexible" booklets, published from October 1976 to September 1978, going from Vercingetorix to the election of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. This collection notably employed European "heavyweights" such as Battaglia, Toppi, Buzelli, Eduardo Coelho, Victor de la Fuente, Gérald Forton, Xavier Musquera, Raymond Poïvet, Raphaël Marcello, Julio Ribera or even Milo Manara.La comunicación propone analizar el contenido "histórico" transmitido por la BD popular francesa de los años 1970. Se revisarán soportes tan variados como los cómics pequeños formatos tipo "fumetti" (13x18: Sergent Gorille, Rapaces, Garry, Attack, etc.), las revistas Spirou y Pif Gadget, o incluso los álbumes flexibles ofrecidos por los petroleros. La última parte de la intervención estará dedicada a un breve análisis de la serie "Historia de Francia", es decir, 24 fascículos mensuales "flexibles", publicados entre octubre de 1976 y septiembre de 1978, que van desde Vercingétorix hasta la elección de Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior in Middle‐Aged Women: Is It Menopause Stages or Symptoms That Matter?
International audienceBackground and Aims: Menopause induces symptoms such as hot flashes, depression, and anxiety, which impair quality‐of‐life. Regular physical activity (PA) seems to be a favorable non‐pharmacological approach to mitigate consequences of menopause. However, studies showed that middle‐aged women reduce PA participation, possibly due to menopausal stage transition or symptoms. This study aimed to evaluate the association of menopausal stage and symptoms severity with PA and sedentary time in women.Methods: An online study was conducted among pre‐, peri‐, and postmenopausal women. Menopausal symptoms were evaluated using Menopausal Rating Scale, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Questionnaire, Insomnia Severity Index, Hot Flash‐Related Daily Interference Scale, and newly developed Anxiety and Depressive Interference Scales. Moderate‐to‐vigorous PA (MVPA) time (during work, transport, and leisure‐time) and sedentary time were assessed using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. Clusters were created using scores from all questionnaires assessing symptoms. Nonparametric MANCOVA, Kruskal–Wallis test, and Dunn post hoc were used to compare MVPA and sedentary time between groups.Results: A total of 462 women completed the questionnaire, and three clusters representing low, moderate, and severe symptoms were identified. No significant differences between menopausal stages for MVPA and sedentary time were found. However, a significant effect (p = 0.018) was found across clusters. Regarding PA domain only, leisure‐time MVPA differed among clusters (p = 0.02). Women experiencing moderate‐to‐severe symptoms had lower levels of leisure‐time MVPA compared to women with mild symptoms (p < 0.05).Conclusions: These findings indicate that women experiencing moderate‐to‐severe symptoms are also likely to have lower levels of PA during leisure‐time independent of their menopause stages
Durability, mechanical recycling and environmental impacts of poly-lactic acid (PLA) based natural fiber reinforced composites: Effect of reactive agents and fiber surface treatment
International audienceThis study presents the recyclability analysis of PLA/flax and PLA/bamboo biocomposites comprising silane treated fibers with and without the addition of a chain extender agent. To assess their mechanical recyclability, PLA biocomposites were reprocessed using multiple cycles of hygrothermal ageing, grinding process, followed by injection molding. The environmental impact of producing the biocomposites on a laboratory scale was evaluated by a life cycle assessment (LCA). An ecodesign approach was adopted to identify hotspots in the production process. The influence of fiber treatment with and without the addition of Joncryl ™ as a reactive chain extender agent, on the properties of the biocomposites after reprocessing cycles was evaluated by examining changes in the molecular structure and physico-mechanical properties of the samples. In general, the study showed that all biocomposites exposed to hygrothermal ageing, grinding and the re-injection process underwent a chain scission mechanism which was responsible for the decrease in average molecular weight, thermal stability and tensile properties. However, fiber treatment with silane and the addition of Joncryl™ helped to limit these effects. LCA results showed that fiber treatment was the most impactful stage, followed by PLA production. Despite the fact that it exhibits poorer mechanical properties after recycling cycles, the PLA/bamboo biocomposite has a smaller environmental footprint than the PLA/Flax biocomposite. This discrepancy arises from variations in both the biomass cultivation conditions and the subsequent processing steps, including fiber treatment and compounding in an internal mixer. Recycling PLA/Flax or Bamboo biocomposites beyond the third and second recycling stages, respectively, is not recommended
