No full textInternational audienceOn 5 June 1649, the engraver Jean-Baptiste Humbelot signed a contract with the polemicist François Véron. He was to engrave Véron’s portrait based on a model painted by Denis Duchesne and provided by Véron, and to sell the copper matrix without any impressions. The print was to match the size of the folio volume of Véron’s works. The work was paid at 120 livres and was to be delivered five weeks later.Le 5 juin 1649, le graveur Jean-Baptiste Humbelot passe un contrat avec le polémiste François Véron. Il doit graver son portrait selon le modèle peint par Denis Duchesne, fourni par Véron, et en vend la matrice, sans tirages. No full textInternational audienceThis volume presents the proceedings of the HOMER 2021 international conference, held in September/October 2021 on the Island of Oléron, France. The conference focused on recent advances in coastal and island archaeology across a wide geographical area, covering the Atlantic north of the equator. From the 55 oral presentations and 24 posters, 49 papers emerged, contributed by scholars from seven countries. The publication showcases the diversity of maritime archaeology, spanning fieldwork to specialized analysis, and from exploratory to synthesis studies. This volume is crucial for the archaeological community as it addresses both methodological issues and the new challenges facing coastal archaeology, reflecting diverse political perspectives. It also presents new research findings, a decade after the Homer 2011 conference was published in 2013 (BAR), and emphasizes the importance of coastal archaeological heritage. The volume engages with current global challenges and serves as a valuable tool for raising awareness among the public and decision-makers about the future of maritime heritage in the face of rising sea levels. It demonstrates that archaeology is a dynamic discipline, adapting daily to political decisions and natural events. Most of the case studies presented are previously unpublished. A key feature of this volume is its diachronic approach, ranging from prehistoric sites to historical ones

No full textThis work explores the use of interactive visualizations and statistical analysis applied to a cultural heritage corpus in art history, within the framework of the AORUM project led by the INHA. Based on a database of nearly 2,500 works, it examines how graphical data representation enhances research and deepens the understanding of artistic materiality, particularly the use of gold in 16th- and 17th-century painting.The study addresses issues of data standardization and uncertainty management, leading to the design of three interactive visualizations (a histogram, a pie chart, and a bar chart). These allow dynamic exploration of trends and distributions, supporting critical analysis and hypothesis testing.The work underlines the value of interdisciplinary and digital approaches in art history, showing how such tools facilitate the analysis and dissemination of complex corpora while highlighting challenges of data quality and structure.Ce mémoire étudie l’usage de la visualisation interactive et de l’analyse statistique appliquées à un corpus patrimonial en histoire de l’art, dans le cadre du projet Analyse de l’OR et de ses Usages comme Matériau pictural (AORUM) porté par l’Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA). À partir d’une base de données d’environ 2 500 œuvres, il montre comment la représentation graphique des données peut enrichir la recherche et renouveler la compréhension de la matérialité artistique, notamment autour de l’usage de l’or dans la peinture des XVIe et XVIIe siècles.La réflexion porte également sur les enjeux de normalisation et d’incertitude, donnant lieu à trois visualisations interactives (histogramme, diagramme circulaire et diagramme en barres) qui permettent d’explorer dynamiquement tendances et répartitions.Ce travail souligne l’apport des approches interdisciplinaires et numériques pour l’histoire de l’art, tout en mettant en lumière les défis liés à la structuration et à la qualité des données historiques
IA et patrimoine, un changement dans la continuité : l’exemple du projet Highvision
No full textThis work is the result of a 6 months internship experience in the ANR Highvision project, dedicated to automatic study of the circulation of press photographs in the early XXth century, and in the PictorIA consortium, an initiative dedicated to the study of AI possibilities for image analysis in Digital Humanities. The said mémoire mainly studies the impact of machine learning technologies in historical research and LAM institutions. It also presents a protocol used for automatic segmentation of newpaper pages based on a custom YOLO model and pero-ocr, and an attempt to tackle the trials of image-text links in the context of press, through the CLIP model.Ce travail est issu d’une expérience de 6 mois en stage au sein du projet ANR Highvison, consacré à l’étude automatique des circulations d’images dans la presse du début du vingtième siècle, et du consortium Pictoria, communauté consacrée aux pratiques d’IA pour l’étude d’images en Humanités Numériques. Il aborde notamment la question de l’impact des technologies issues du machine learning dans la recherche historique et les institutions patrimoniales. Ce mémoire propose aussi un protocole pour la segmentation de pages de journaux automatique basé sur un modèle YOLO et pero-ocr, et des premières pistes sur les défis de la création de liens texte-image dans ce contexte, via une expérimentation sur CLIP
La commande d’une image de confrérie à Gabriel Ladame (1665)
No full textInternational audienceOn 3 March 1665, Gabriel Ladame signed an order for an engraved plate depicting their patron saints, Saint John and Saint Nicholas, to be used by the cooper's guild. Ladame had previously provided a drawing that had been approved by the jurors. The five-pound plaque had to be delivered forty days later: the brotherhood would pay 135 livres for it, a third of which was paid at the time the order was placed. The order is for the plate only, not for prints.Le 3 mars 1665, Gabriel Ladame signe la commande d’une matrice gravée destinée à la confrérie des tonneliers représentant leurs patrons saint Jean et saint Nicolas. Un dessin a préalablement été fourni par Ladame et validé par les jurés. La plaque de cinq livres doit être remise quarante jours plus tard : la confrérie paiera pour cela 135 livres, dont le tiers à la commande. La commande concerne uniquement la plaque et non des tirages

No full textDéchiffrement réalisé dans le cadre du projet Back in Time (https://www.inria.fr/fr/back-in-time-cryptographie-histoire-ia-dechiffrer-manuscrits)Déchiffrement d'une lettre isolée de François Ier à Christophe Richer au sein des Archives du ministère des Affaires étrangères (Acquisitions extraordinaires). Le déchiffrement a été opéré dans un premier temps par cryptanalyse puis par vérification à l'aide de la table de chiffrement originale (conservée à la Bibliothèque nationale de France)
