    Éducateurs à l'ère de l’intelligence artificielle: Des attentes numériques à l'affirmation professionnelle

    No full text
International audienceThis presentation explores how teachers can develop their digital and artificial intelligence skills in order to strengthen their professional autonomy and pedagogical creativity. Drawing on data relating to learner demographics, relationships with writing and technology in developed countries, and French higher education, it highlights students' growing digital expectations alongside the challenge posed by the transformative impact of generative AI on academic work. By emphasising critical understanding rather than mere technical skills, institutions can help teachers meet new and old challenges: building trust, supporting authentic learning, and empowering students in a rapidly digitising world. The presentation also highlights the urgent need for pedagogical research and collective support to ensure that teachers are empowered, rather than overwhelmed, by the digital transformation.

Evolution of flood generating processes under climate change in France

International audienceAbstract. The impact of climate change on floods varies across regions, and observed trends in flood characteristics are often explained by differential changes in the processes that cause flooding. This study explores changes in flood magnitude and flood-generating processes under different climate change scenarios for a large number of basins in France. It is based on an unprecedented exercise to model the impacts of climate change on hydrology, using a semi-distributed model (GRSD) applied to 3727 basins with 22 Euro-CORDEX bias-corrected climate projections using two greenhouse gas emission scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5). Annual maxima of daily simulated streamflow were extracted for the period 1975–2100, resulting in a set of over 10 million flood events, and a trend analysis was carried out on both flood magnitudes and flood generating processes. Increasing trends in flood magnitudes are only found in the northern regions of France, although multi-model convergence rarely exceeds 60 %. The highest increases are observed for the 20 year floods and under the RCP8.5 scenario. A classification of floods according to their generating process revealed that floods linked to soil saturation represent more than half of all floods in France. The relative change in the importance of the different flood-generating processes is not spatially homogeneous and varies by region. The proportion of floods linked to soil saturation excess is increasing in the temperate and continental climate zones in the Northeast, while decreasing in the southern Mediterranean regions. In these Mediterranean regions, the proportion of floods linked to infiltration excess related to extreme rainfall is increasing. Both the frequency and magnitude of floods linked to snowmelt processes are decreasing in mountainous areas. On the contrary, the most extreme floods associated with rainfall on dry soils tend to increase, in line with the increase of rainfall intensity. Overall, trends in antecedent soil moisture conditions are as important as trends in intense rainfall to explain flood hazard trends in the different climate projections. This study shows how important it is to decipher the changes in the different flood generating processes in order to better understand their evolution in different hydroclimatic regions

International audienceSince 2016, we have been studying the functioning of a Localized Unit for School Inclusion (Ulis) in middle school, supporting the education of deaf students in bilingual programs using French Sign Language (LSF) and written French. Faced with a lack of resources for mathematics in LSF, we collaborated with several stakeholders to design video clips for studying mathematics. These clips present mathematical concepts using several semiotic systems (LSF, written French, graphics, figures, animations). This chapter focuses on how these resources are used by different stakeholders (deaf students, hearing students, teachers, parents) in and outside the classroom. The aim is to analyze how these uses contribute to the educational and academic accessibility of deaf and hearing students.

    No full text
International audienceThe complexity of inclusive education is not unique to it, of course, but we believe it deserves to be examined, hence the title of this book. It is based first and foremost on an epistemological position, that of the paradigm of complexity as conceptualized by French sociologist Edgar Morin. This paradigm allows us to think about “what is woven together” in inclusive education and, more generally, in inclusivity, the latter being taken as “a social and cultural dimension that allows each person to be a member with rights and duties in the society to which they belong, with the possibility of legitimately taking a dignified and civic place.”La complexité de l’éducation inclusive ne lui est bien sûr pas propre, mais mérite à notre sens d’être interrogée, d’où le titre de cet ouvrage.

    No full text
International audienceAs volunteer experts for the French High Council for Public Health (Haut Conseil de la santé publique), with backgrounds in the humanities and biomedical sciences, the authors present the conditions for collegial expertise on the wearing of masks during the Covid-19 epidemic. The HCSP is one of the independent bodies providing scientific expertise on public health that was regularly consulted during the crisis to advise the government on the orientation of its health policy. This article describes the methods used by this institution to produce expert reports, as well as the development of recommendations on the use of face masks in the public space and in the workplace. It sheds light on the practice of institutional expertise and on the role of experts in a period of scientific uncertainty. It discusses the complexity of the situations and constraints encountered. The authors conclude by stressing the importance of the role and involvement of scientists called on as experts, and the form of commitment that multidisciplinary expertise at the HCSP can take in times of crisis and emergency.

International audienceSchool punishment, still a marginal topic in French research, constitutes a central mechanism for regulating and reproducing social relations of gender, class, and race. An ethnographic study conducted in three priority education middle schools (REP+) shows that punitive practices, particularly exclusion, rely on ableist and racialized logics concealed beneath a discourse of republican neutrality. Far from being uniform, sanctions reflect stereotypical interpretations of students’ behaviors, reinforcing their stigmatization and gradual detachment from the institution. In response to this differentiated normativity, adolescents deploy strategies of adjustment and agency, negotiating their relationship to school norms according to context. An intersectional approach thus reveals the structural, performative, and unequal dimensions of disciplinary practices within the French educational system.
