Review of Eudyasmus, with descriptions of a new species from Waigeo Island, Indonesia and a closely related new genus (Curculionidae: Molytinae: Eudyasmini)

    No full text
Eudyasmus Pascoe, 1885 (Curculionidae: Molytinae: Eudyasmini), an endemic weevil genus from New Guinea, is reviewed. The genus is redescribed, all previously described species are diagnosed, and lectotypes are designated for three species. Prior to this study, Eudyasmus was only known from Papua New Guinea but is reported here for the first time from the Indonesian part of New Guinea based on the description of Eudyasmus basalis Pancini & Bramanti sp. nov. from Waigeo Island, West Papua Province. A new genus, Protrachyasmus Setliff gen. nov., is described to accommodate Eudyasmus planidorsis Heller, which is non-congeneric with the four remaining Eudyasmus species. A species level identification key, distribution map, and illustrations are provided for all species of these two closely related genera

Moda e istituzioni. Uno sguardo comparativo tra Italia e Francia (1945-1962)

    Get PDF

Fashion in Italy (1951-1965).

    Get PDF

L’ eco del caso Moro in Gran Bretagna: «the most serious challenge to the authority of the State in post-war Italian history»

    Get PDF

Innovative approach for the determination of unit weight and density of soil and rock masses

    Get PDF
The present paper aims to develop an analytical approach for defining the two most important physical properties of soils and rocks at mass scale: unit weight and density. A series of equations have been developed for the calculation of the aforementioned parameters for different types of soil and rock masses available in nature; specifically homogenous, jointed, layered, and chaotic masses. The relationships were determined according to an “equivalent continuum approach” by analyzing the physical characteristics and volumetric fractions of different elements that make up the mass, such as discontinuities, layers, and blocks. The required inputs for the proposed equations are limited in number and easily obtainable by conventional site surveys and laboratory tests. Each of the equations has been validated through the application to several case studies representative of soil and rock masses with different physical conditions. The proposed relationships show a high degree of reliability and are therefore applicable to different types of soil and rock masses, according to the developed standardized and repeatable approach

Distributed optical fiber sensors and terrestrial laser scanner surveys for the monitoring of an underground marble quarry

    Get PDF
The sensing applications nowadays are always more used for structural and engineering-geological applications. In this work, an experimental monitoring system of an underground marble quarry, located in the Apuan Alps (Tuscany, Italy) is presented. The system is composed by Distributed Optical Fiber Sensors (DOFS) based on Brillouin Frequency Shift (BFS). By using a control unit, multitemporal data of strain and temperature were measured thanks to the installation of 250 linear meters of DOFS placed around two pillars. Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) surveys, aided by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and TS (Total Station) measurements, were executed with the aim of: i) identifying physically inaccessible rock joints (i.e. height of the pillars), ii) georeferencing the DOFS and, iii) locating any strain phenomenon. The integration of a DOFS monitoring system with geomatic technologies has given the possibility to initialize a real-time monitoring system aimed at protecting the safety of the workers from possible rocky wall collapses. The results obtained in this work are the texturized 3D model of the analyzed pillars, the DEM and the orthophoto of the quarry, and the profiles of BFS, strain and temperature variation. This research was funded by Tuscany Region (Italy) though the POR FESR 2014-2020 plan

New records of the exotic black little ant Monomorium carbonarium in the Iberian Peninsula and discovery of the ergatoid queen (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

    Get PDF
The exotic ant Monomorium carbonarium (Smith, 1858) is recorded for two new cities in the Iberian Peninsula. A hundred workers of this black little ant were recovered from a pitfall trap in a small urban park in the city of Alacant (SE Iberia). A visual inspection revealed a large colony with numerous nest entrances, but confined in space. Its absence in other colliding parks and green areas of the city sug- gests an early stage of invasion. It is also first detected in three parks in the city of Barcelona (NE Iberia). Two queen phenotypes are imaged, winged and ergatoid, the second one previously unknown. The invasive potential of the species is discussed

History Education in Mexico: Development, Research Trends and Local Answers to Global Challenges

    Get PDF
