    Programa de intervención kinésica en pacientes con hemodiálisis

    Proyecto de intervención kinésica conducente al título profesional de kinesiólogo.Este proyecto de intervención kinésica busca mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes sometidos a hemodiálisis. Se centra en diseñar y aplicar programas de ejercicios personalizados intra-diálisis, adaptados a las necesidades y capacidades de cada usuario. Abordando problemas comunes asociados a cansancio, prurito, estreñimiento, anorexia, dolor, alteraciones del sueño, ansiedad, disnea, náuseas, piernas inquietas, y depresión. El proyecto piloto es un emprendimiento privado, que comenzará a implementarse en Centro de Diálisis Diaverum Melipilla, para luego continuar expandiéndose a los centros de diálisis a lo largo de Chile. Las intervenciones será intra- dialíticas, es decir, al mismo tiempo de la hemodiálisis con el fin de optimizar el tiempo del usuario y obtener mayores beneficios. Se realizan ejercicios aeróbicos y de fuerza, con implementación simple. También, se trabajará el equilibrio y las estrategias reactivas y anticipatorias para poder disminuir el riesgo de caída en estos pacientes. No existe una entidad kinesiológica establecida en Chile que se enfoque en los pacientes sometidos a hemodiálisis y el deterioro de su calidad de vida debido a este tratamiento. Este proyecto se podrá llevar a cabo con un financiamiento a través de un fondo concursable y un crédito bancario para poder costear los implementos, el personal y la publicidad. Junto con esto, los usuarios podrán acceder a estas intervenciones por un valor accesible y que posteriormente será reembolsado por Fonasa

    Transcriptional Signatures and Network-Based Approaches Identified Master Regulators Transcription Factors Involved in Experimental Periodontitis Pathogenesis

    Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the progressive and irreversible destruction of the periodontium. Its aetiopathogenesis lies in the constant challenge of the dysbiotic biofilm, which triggers a deregulated immune response responsible for the disease phenotype. Although the molecular mechanisms underlying periodontitis have been extensively studied, the regulatory mechanisms at the transcriptional level remain unclear. To generate transcriptomic data, we performed RNA shotgun sequencing of the oral mucosa of periodontitis-affected mice. Since genes are not expressed in isolation during pathological processes, we disclose here the complete repertoire of differentially expressed genes (DEG) and co-expressed modules to build Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs) and identify the Master Transcriptional Regulators of periodontitis. The transcriptional changes revealed 366 protein-coding genes and 42 non-coding genes differentially expressed and enriched in the immune response. Furthermore, we found 13 co-expression modules with different representation degrees and gene expression levels. Our GRN comprises genes from 12 gene clusters, 166 nodes, of which 33 encode Transcription Factors, and 201 connections. Finally, using these strategies, 26 master regulators of periodontitis were identified.     Design Characteristics, Visual Qualities, and Walking Behavior in an Urban Park Setting

    The design characteristics of urban parks’ pathways are important in facilitating leisure walking and maintaining the minimum rate of physical activity, thus improving public health. This study examined and explored the relationships between design characteristics as well as certain visual qualities of Cautin Park, the biggest urban park in the Araucanian Region of Chile, and the tendency for walking as well as walking behavior. A mix of quantitative and qualitative methods was used to examine the objectives. Several design attributes were found to be related to the tendency for walking and the walking behavior in this urban park, including greater pathway width, more vegetation, tranquility along the pathways, and more comfortable pathway environments for pets. Additionally, these correlations were assessed based on gender and age, and it was found that adolescents showed the greatest difference from other groups. For instance, adolescents walk significantly more along pathways with more connectivity to activity zones. Among the visual qualities, only legibility shows a significant correlation with the number of all types of pedestrians, as well as subgroups of adolescents, adult men, and adult women. These results were reviewed, and their implications were discussed. Urban planners and designers could apply these findings when designing future urban parks in this context

    Classical B emission (Be) stars are fast rotating, near-main-sequence B-type stars. The rotation and the presence of circumstellar discs profoundly modify the observables of active Be stars. Our goal is to infer stellar and disc parameters, as well as distance and interstellar extinction, using the currently most favoured physical models for these objects. We present BEATLAS, a grid of non-local thermodynamic equilibrium radiative transfer models for Be stars, calculated with the HDUST code. The grid was coupled with a Monte Carlo Markov chain (MCMC) code to sample the posterior distribution. We test our method on two well-studied Be stars, α Eri and β CMi, using photometric, polarimetric, and spectroscopic data as input to the code. We recover literature determinations for most of the parameters of the targets, in particular the mass and age of α Eri, the disc parameters of β CMi, and their distances and inclinations. The main discrepancy is that we estimate lower rotational rates than previous works. We confirm previously detected signs of disc truncation in β CMi and note that its inner disc seems to have a flatter density slope than its outer disc. The correlations between the parameters are complex, further indicating that exploring the entire parameter space simultaneously is a more robust approach, statistically. The combination of BEATLAS and Bayesian-MCMC techniques proves successful, and a powerful new tool for the field: The fundamental parameters of any Be star can now be estimated in a matter of hours or days.This study was financed in part by the ‘Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico’ – Brasil (CNPq) – Finance Code 140171/2015-0.     Effects of composition and structure variables of urban trees in the reduction of heat islands; case study, Temuco city, Chile

    The Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect is a growing problem that has a critical impact on human thermal comfort and public health. Some strategies to reduce the UHI effect are increasing the amount of urban forest. This research aims at assessing the effect of the composition and structure of urban trees, as part of cities's Green Infrastructure (GI), on the UHI phenomenon in the south of Chile. Linear regression analysis and non-parametrical statistical tests were used to assess the relationship. Micro-level features analysis demonstrates that shape and quality of trees have significant effect on temperature oscillations (p-value = 0.003 and 0.072, respectively). Better quality and larger area of canopy favour the refrigeration process. Besides, there are differences between native and introduced tree species behaviour, but they do not result significant. Composition and structure variables of the GI are relevant for dealing with the UHI phenomenon. Then, a proper management of the urban GI would ensure better and more sustainable planning of cities

    Desde el rito político del charivari como forma de protesta social, hasta la expresión ciudadana de la olla vacía durante el estallido social iniciado en octubre de 2019 en Chile, el presente artículo tiene por objetivo configurar el papel del objeto doméstico olla y su vinculación femenina como formas de protesta política. Se pregunta por el papel que juega el cacerolazo en los tiempos actuales, sus formas de expresión y el símbolo de la olla como forma de protesta. Para ello se utiliza metodología de actor participante, fuentes éditas, testimonios de época, registros de prensa y entrevistas. La olla en la calle marca el comienzo de profundos cambios sociopolíticos que, mucho más allá de su figuración sonora, simboliza una fuerza femenina vinculada a la forma de hacer civilización y vida plena

    V4142 Sgr: Double periodic variable with an accretor surrounded by the accretion disk's atmosphere

    Context. A detailed study of the close interacting binary V4142 Sgr, based on photometric and spectroscopic analyses, indicates that this system belongs to the enigmatic class of Algol-like variables exhibiting a long photometric cycle of an unknown nature.Aims. By performing photometric data-mining and spectroscopic observations covering the orbital cycle, we obtained the orbital parameters and the stellar properties of the binary system, along with the physical properties of the accretion disk located around the hot star. In addition, we gained insights into the evolutive path of the system.Methods. We modeled the light curve through an inverse method, using a theoretical light curve of the binary system that considers the light curve contribution of both stars and the accretion disk of the hot star to obtain the fundamental parameters. To constrain the main stellar parameters, the mass ratio was fixed in addition to the donor temperature, using the obtained values from our spectroscopic analysis, which includes deblending methods to isolate the spectral lines of the stellar components. The system parameters were compared with a grid of binary star evolutive models in order to gain insights into the evolutionary history of the system.Results. The orbital period and the long cycle were re-calculated, with the following result: 30(d).633 +/- 0(d).002 and 1201 +/- 14 days. The spectral analysis reveals H alpha double emission with a persistent V <= R asymmetry, which is considered evidence of a possible wind emerging from the hotspot region. In addition, a cold and evolved donor star of M-d = 1.11 +/- 0.2 M-?, T-d = 4500 +/- 125 K and a R-d = 19.4 +/- 0.2 R-? as well as a rejuvenated B-dwarf companion of M-g = 3.86 +/- 0.3 M-?, T-g = 14 380 +/- 700 K, and R-g = 6.35 +/- 0.2 R-? were found. The gainer is surrounded by a concave and geometrically thick disk, creating its own atmosphere around the main component of a radial extension, R-d = 22.8 +/- 0.3 R-?, contributing similar to 1.4 percent of the total luminosity of the system at the V-band at orbital phase 0.25. The disk is characterized by a hot-spot roughly placed where the stream hits the disk and an additional bright-spot separated 102.(?)5 +/- 0.(?)04 degrees along the disk edge rim in the direction of the orbital motion. The system is seen under an inclination of 81.(?)5 +/- 0.(?)3 and at a distance of d(Gaia) = 1140 +/- 35 pc. Doppler maps of the emission lines reveal sites of enhanced line emission in the second and third velocity quadrants. The former would correspond to a hotspot and the latter to a bright spot detected by the light curve analysis. We find that the system comes from an initially shorter orbital period binary that inverted its mass ratio due to mass exchange. A plausible model scenario indicates that, at present, the K-type giant should have been depleted of hydrogen in its core, while the companion would have gained about 2 M-? through a process lasting about 2 Myr.We thank the referee Dr. Mikhail Kovalev for useful comments on the first version of this manuscript.
