A simple way of describing the diffusion phase growth in cylindrical and spherical samples

    No full text
It is shown that during diffusional growth of the intermediate phase between substancesA and B for cylindrical and spherical samples, the total diffusion flux relative to the center, -S(r)D~3c/&~ where S is the area of the interface, varies by a small amount in the radial direction, despite the concentration dependenceof the interdiffusion coefficient D(c). In this context we proposea constant-flux met.hodwhich allows the kinetics of the diffusional phase growth in cylindrical and spherical samplesto be describedin a rather simple way. Deviations from the parabolic law of phasegrowth in cylindrical and spherical samplesare analyze

Gmwfh d the metastable amorphous p h minstead of stable crystalline phases in the process of chemical diffusion is explained m the framework of the themy of diffusional phase mmpetilion. The growing amorphous phase suppresses nucleation as well as the growth of cryslalline phases for somc time. 'Ihe suppression time and the m m p o n d i n g width of the amorphous layer are evaluated. The reasons for the appearance of the initial amorphous layer are discusse
