Replication Data for: Finite element-based diffraction correction for piezoelectric transducers accounting for diffraction at transmission, propagation, and reception
This dataset contains modelled diffraction corrections for an example ultrasonic transmit-receive measurement system with piezoelectric transducers, and the underlying raw data used to calculate these diffraction corrections. Three different diffraction correction models are used: the finite element diffraction correction model (FEDC), the simplified finite element diffraction correction model (SFDC) and the baffled piston diffraction correction model (BPDC).
The example modelling case is an ultrasonic measurement system in air at ambient conditions, with two coaxially aligned cylindrical piezoelectric ceramic disk transducers of the material Pz27 (CTS Ferroperm Piezoceramics, Denmark) with dimensions 20x2 mm. The main output parameters are voltage-to-voltage transfer functions and diffraction corrections, as a function of frequency and axial distance.
The data was produced as part of a PhD funded by the the Research Council of Norway, under the project "Subsea gas energy and quality measurement using ultrasonic flow meters" with project number 303169.</p
Key verbs in academic writing: Dataset for "Evaluation of keyness metrics: Performance and reliability"
This dataset contains corpus-based frequency data for an analysis of key verbs in published academic writing. The data are from the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA; Davies 2008-) and cover a period of 30 years (1990-2019). The section ‘academic’, which contains research articles from peer-reviewed journals, represents the target variety, and the reference variety is fictional writing as represented in the ‘fiction’ section (which contains short stories, plays, movie scripts, and the first chapter of novels). The total number of text files is 26,137 (academic) and 25,992 (fiction). To reduce computational expense for our methodological simulation study, we restrict our attention to verb lemmas whose whole-(sub)corpus normalized frequency exceeds 10 pmw in the academic section of COCA. The data therefore contain frequency information on only 700 verb lemmas
Replication Data for: (Im)polite uses of vocatives in present-day Madrilenian Spanish
Dataset abstract:
This dataset contains one datafile (.csv) used to create the graphs and tables in the paper "(Im)polite uses of vocatives in present-day Madrilenian Spanish".
It includes 534 Spanish vocative tokens, i.e. (pro)nominal terms of direct address (e.g., tío 'dude'), which were retrieved from CORMA, a conversational corpus of peninsular Spanish compiled between 2016 and 2019.
The data is annotated for (i) form, (ii) communication, (iii) semantic category, (iv) speaker's generation, (v) speaker's gender, (vi) relationship between speaker and hearer, (vii) socio-pragmatic character of the hosting speech act, (viii) the hearer's reaction, and (ix) the vocative's socio-pragmatic effect.Article abstract:
The present study aims to examine the socio-pragmatic scope of vocatives in present-day colloquial Spanish. As prototypical deictic markers, directly calling upon the addressee, vocatives are considered crucial mechanisms in the creation and maintaining of interpersonal relationships during interaction.
This deictic potential makes them highly appropriate strategies at the service of face work and (im)politeness. However, the relation between (Spanish) vocatives and (im)politeness has scarcely been explored.
In an attempt to fill this research gap, the present analysis empirically examines the socio-pragmatic functions, related to the expression of (im)politeness, that vocatives are able to fulfill in colloquial conversations.
The results show that their multifunctionality needs to be evaluated in the broad co(n)text, not only by taking into account the hosting speech act and the vocatives’ semantic features, but also extra-linguistic parameters, such as the interpersonal relationship and the speaker’s age.

Background data for: Stable organization of the early lexical-semantic network in 18- and 24-month-old preterm and full-term infants: an eye-tracker study
Description of dataset
The dataset presents the results of the investigation of the early lexical-semantic knowledge organization capabilities of 18- and 24-month-old toddlers. We were interested in the maturational differences in age and language proficiency. We included full-term (FT) and late preterm (PT) Hungarian-speaking infants. The PT and FT groups were matched according to their maturational ages.
We conducted an infant-adapted target-absent Visual World Paradigm for eye-tracker presenting a Target Word verbally. It was followed by a visual panel with four pictures (aphonological distractor, a categorical distractor, and two unrelated images). We also tested children with the Hungarian version of the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory (CDI).
The dataset includes descriptive data of the participants, the CDI results (word count per category and the total sentence length), and fixation duration and count data registered by the eye-tracker for the presented stimuli. We provide the raw fixation data and the calculated variables per stimulus picture categories.Article abstract
An organized mental lexicon determines new information acquisition by orienting
attention during language processing. Adult-like lexical-semantic knowledge
organization has already been demonstrated in 24-month-olds. However,
the outcomes of earlier studies have been contradictory in terms of the
organizational capacities of 18-month-olds, thus our aim was to examine lexical-semantic organization in this younger age group. In prematurely born infants,
audiovisual integration deficits have been found alongside disruptions in language
perception. By including late preterm infants with corrected ages in our study,
we aimed to test whether maturational differences influence lexical-semantic
organization when vocabulary is growing rapidly. We tested 47 late preterm and
full-term 18- and 24-month-old infants by means of an infant-adapted target-absent
task using a slightly modified version of the original visual world paradigm
for eye tracker. We found a longer fixation duration for the lexical and semantic
distractors compared to the neutral pictures. Neither language proficiency nor
age affected the looking time results. We found a dissociation by age between
taxonomic and associative semantic relations. Maturational differences were
detectable in the initial processing of taxonomic relations, as processing in the
preterm group was slightly delayed and qualitatively different in the first half of the
looking time. The size and composition of the expressive vocabulary differed only
by age. In general, our study demonstrated a stable lexical-semantic organization
between 18 and 24 months of age, regardless of maturational differences.</p

Datasettet inneholder svar på en spørreundersøkelse om læreroppfatninger om Det felles europeiske rammeverket (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR)) foretatt i 2019. Spørsmålene omhandler kunnskap om og bruk av rammeverket, hvor nyttig det er i praksis, og generelle oppfattelser av hvordan språklæring foregår. 250 anonyme personer svarte på undersøkelsen, og av dem oppgav 227 (over 90 %) at de hadde undervisningserfaring i norsk som andrespråk.
This dataset contains answers to a survey on teacher perceptions of The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR), undertaken in 2019. The questions are about knowledge and use of the framework, its practical utility, and general perceptions of how language learning works. 250 anonymous people completed the survey, and 227 (over 90%) of them stated that they had teaching experience of Norwegian as second language.</p
Expression data to the study: Long non-coding RNAs in hypoxia and oxidative stress - novel insights investigating a piglet model of perinatal asphyxia.
A total of 42 newborn piglets were randomized into four study arms: 1. hypoxia-normoxic reoxygenation, 2. hypoxia-3 minutes of hyperoxic reoxygenation, 3. hypoxia-30 minutes of hyperoxic reoxygenation, and 4. sham-operated controls. Expression of the lncRNAs BDNF-AS, H19, MALAT1, ANRIL, TUG1, PANDA and related target genes VEGFA, BDNF, TP53, HIF1alpha, and TNFalpha were assessed in cortex, hippocampus, white matter, and cerebellum by qPCR and Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR).The overall aim of this study was to explore the lncRNAs expression changes involved in the regulation of the oxidative stress response in perinatal asphyxia using a piglet model. Our results of different brain regions exhibited that the exposure to hypoxia causes significant alteration of expression in various lncRNAs, mainly in the cortex and hippocampus. Even a short exposure to 100% oxygen for 3 minutes caused expression changes in the lncRNAs, providing further evidence for oxidative brain injury caused by hyperoxic reoxygenation in newborns

Bioactivity studies with salmon skeletal muscle cells treated with calanus hydrolysate were performed.
