The term professional digital competence (PDC) has gained currency in the research literature on new requirements for teachers\u27 professional competence in a digitized working life. However, this research has in a small extent dealt with vocational teachers.
The article takes as its starting point a vocational didactic perspective on the pedagogical integration ePortfolios and digital documentation to promote learning in a vocational education that alternates between school and working life. A model for the vocational teachers\u27 PDC, the YFL model, has been developed based on this understanding and is in this study subjected to an exploratory validation. Theoretically, the study is placed in a socio-cultural understanding of learning where areas of use and different purposes for this technology are seen in the light of opportunities for learning across arenas in collaboration with other actors. The research design for the study is inspired by design-based research where research-based principles for system design and close collaboration between researchers and practitioners. The data material is organized thematically and presented as integrated conclusions in line with principles for integrative mixed method research.
To be successful with technology-supported border crossing practices, the results show, in light of the YFL model, that vocational teachers need both profession-based and subject-integrated competences. This can be seen, for example, in professional communication about vocational didactic purposes for using ePortfolios, and in a more innovative and transformative practice when students create personal learning portfolios that communicate vocational competence. This challenges the vocational teacher\u27s role by requiring a more adaptive pedagogical approach. A development of PDC includes competence dimensions linked to other actors\u27 attitudes to technology, opportunities for cooperation in the development of the technological systems and in overcoming organizational and political obstacles. Further research should make a systematic study of core dimensions in the YFL model across vocational subjects.
Altruisme versus egennytte:: Motivasjonen bak sykepleierstudenters studievalg.
In this article, we investigate what motivates young people to study nursing despite low application numbers and negative media coverage. The study highlights the distinction between altruistic and self-interested motivation and compares nursing students on the basis of their gender, age, previous work experience and the priority they gave the programme when they applied.
Quantitative data was collected in a digital survey in the spring of 2023 and analysed with SPSS 29. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation, F- and t-test. The sample consisted of 109 nursing students at two educational institutions, who chose to participate. Altruistic and intrinsic motivation were operationalised in the form of 16 statements, which in turn were used to construct two indices.
The results indicate that nursing students are motivated by both altruistic and intrinsic motivation factors, but with a predominance of altruistic motivation. The two dimensions are not in conflict with each other. There was little difference in the motivation of different groups. The only one of the background variables investigated that had a significant impact was previous experience of care work.
Empirical data that sheds light on student motivation can contribute to more targeted recruitment efforts. Today\u27s nursing students appear to be a homogeneous group in terms of motivation, but the study also raises the question of whether their emphasis on altruistic values distinguishes them from other applicants. If young people\u27s self-orientation increases while their altruism decreases, we can expect even greater challenges in recruiting nursing students in the future. Such a situation will require further innovation to make the profession attractive to new generations.I denne artikkelen undersøker vi hva som, tross lave søkertall og negativ medieomtale, motiverer unge mennesker til å studere sykepleie.
Improving Learning Design Using Learning Analytics in Relation to Study Experience
In higher education, the learner-centered approach faces challenges due to the growing number and diversity of students and the increasing complexity of course delivery. Study experiences, which correlate with academic achievement, may be enhanced through learning analytics. In particular, analytics can offer valuable, timely insights by collecting and analyzing data on the study experiences and student-related metrics. This allows teachers to gain understanding of students\u27 psychological qualities, which are not typically inferred from standard learning management systems.
Our case study aims to demonstrate how the practical application of learning analytics (LA)-generated data on students’ psychological qualities can guide teachers in enhancing their instructional delivery and, consequently, enhance student experiences. Initially, we assess the reliability of data concerning students’ psychological traits and study experiences. Subsequently, we explore whether these data can provide insights for teachers that can lead to improved student experiences. Student experiences across two consecutive course implementations are compared to illustrate the potential of LA in informing teachers.
The results show that data can be collected reliably on students\u27 daily academic activities and emotional states during the teamwork week. Preliminary findings from the spring term are shared with teachers, which indicate that the use of LA data can positively influence student experiences without requiring structural changes to instructional materials or course implementation. Although the study is not experimental, it provides valuable insights into specific methods of applying LA to inform teachers and enhance student experiences. Further research is needed to deepen the understanding of these applications

Polyfona röster för framtiden: : A/r/tografens sammantrasslade tillblivelser
The point of departure for this study is an exploration of how a/r/tography can be used as a method to contribute to new ways of thought and a changed understanding of the researcher, the artist and the teacher in higher education. The data is derived from digital meetings, dialogues, and exchanges of texts and works of art. The data produced is polyphonic, taking the form of assemblages (cf. Deleuze & Guattari, 1987). Data is analyzed and discussed by visualization of intra-actions (Barad, 2007), and the analyzing process is driven by affect (Kristeva, 1980, 1984), resulting in the discovery of the concept of intra-artistic-articulations, which challenges hierarchies and encourages the wild within the a/r/tographer.

Constraints and creativity: Transforming a live artistic experience for children into Zoom
This article explores how the Portuguese ensemble Companhia de Música Teatral (CMT) adapted their live performance PaPI – Opus 8 for Zoom in response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, which severely limited in-person gatherings and artistic events. Originally planned for a nationwide tour, PaPI – Opus 8 faced major challenges due to pandemic restrictions, prompting CMT to rework the piece for an online audience. The result was a transformed version titled PaPI – Opus 8.z, crafted specifically for the Zoom video-conferencing platform. The article gives a detailed examination of this performance piece and its reception, providing a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and achievements associated with the adaptation of this live performance to the virtual realm.
The article explores the transformation process into an online format, examining both the losses and gains incurred. To facilitate this exploration, an introduction to CMT and a contextualization of their work is given. Subsequently, PaPI – Opus 8 is situated within CMT\u27s body of work, including its "sister" pieces, with a particular focus on evaluating the significance of interaction with the audience during the performance. This is followed by an overview of the pandemic-related constraints and the strategies employed by CMT to continue creating performances. To illustrate these strategies, two other CMT creations developed during quarantine are discussed as pivotal steps on the pathway from PaPI – Opus 8 to the transformed online performance PaPI – Opus 8.z.

The Enactment of Professional Boundary Work: A Case Study of Crime Investigation
Professional boundary takes place as actors negotiate occupational boundaries and division of labour. In this article, we examine the conditions of defensive, accommodating, and configurational boundary work in the context of crime investigation. We analyse how professional boundaries are negotiated as civilian investigators become involved with policing. The article is based on 71 interviews with civilian and police crime investigators from a variety of investigation units in Sweden. Findings show how policing as a professional field is shifted as civilians from a wide variety of backgrounds and with varying motivations enter the occupation. Defensive boundary work that devalued civilians was widely occurring. However, boundary work that focused on learning, collaboration, and training was also occurring in high-status units. The discussion focuses on how power asymmetries impact boundary work when professions are undergoing change. This study exemplifies how organizational actors navigate, defend, and challenge their positions as professional boundaries are negotiated
Clinical Supervisors’ Views on Strengthening Theory-Practice Coherence — A Sociology of Knowledge Perspective
Increased focus on the practical components of Danish health care education and greater coherence between theory and practice have been persistently identified as major issues requiring quality improvement. Policy initiatives to standardize education in eight health professional bachelor’s programs, including greater theory-practice coherence, prompted us to explore the types of educational practices highlighted by clinical supervisors to strengthen coherence between theory and practice. Thirty-one qualitative interviews were conducted with clinical supervisors in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and health programs, biomedical laboratory science, midwifery, radiography, and psychomotor therapy. Data were thematically analyzed in a sociology of knowledge framework. We found that theoretical knowledge had a higher status in the programs. The imbalance may have negative consequences, whereby theoria activities in the practical part of the programs may, in unintended and subtle ways, increase in dominance. The intrinsic qualities of clinical practice are, therefore, at risk of being downplayed
A Friend to Milli Mörriäinen: The Storification Method Supporting Pupils\u27 Crafting Processes
Arts-based and creative learning processes should be utilised more in craft education. With the NaCra approach, craft processes are connected to other creative content, mainly narratives. This NaCra study explored pupils\u27 holistic craft processes that incorporated stori-fied elements and the aim was to clarify the key elements of individual craft processes supported by storification. The study involved 12 pupils from the second grade (7–8 years old) in Finnish primary education. Despite the novelty of the holistic approach, all pupils successfully planned, created and evaluated their soft toys. The storification method permeated every stage of the holistic craft process, aiding not only the ideation and design phases but also motivation and increased concentration in the making and evaluation phases. The findings suggest that pupils\u27 holistic craft processes incorporating storified elements work well together as a means for pupils to express their thoughts and imagination into assignments. Furthermore, storified elements make pupils\u27 experiences come to life in the creative crafting process. Pupils should have more opportunities with holistic craft processes where the outcome is uncertain at the beginning of the process. Keywords: pupil, holistic craft process, crafting, storification, storified elements, soft toyArts-based and creative learning processes should be utilised more in craft education.
