    « Nul n’est inemployable ! » Une politique d’activation des personnes handicapées

    No full text

The structure of liquid carbon elucidated by in situ X-ray diffraction

    No full text
International audienceCarbon has a central role in biology and organic chemistry, and its solid allotropes provide the basis of much of our modern technology1. However, the liquid form of carbon remains nearly uncharted2, and the structure of liquid carbon and most of its physical properties are essentially unknown3. But liquid carbon is relevant for modelling planetary interiors4,5 and the atmospheres of white dwarfs6, as an intermediate state for the synthesis of advanced carbon materials7,8, inertial confinement fusion implosions9, hypervelocity impact events on carbon materials10 and our general understanding of structured fluids at extreme conditions11. Here we present a precise structure measurement of liquid carbon at pressures of around 1 million atmospheres obtained by in situ X-ray diffraction at an X-ray free-electron laser. Our results show a complex fluid with transient bonding and approximately four nearest neighbours on average, in agreement with quantum molecular dynamics simulations. The obtained data substantiate the understanding of the liquid state of one of the most abundant elements in the universe and can test models of the melting line. The demonstrated experimental abilities open the path to performing similar studies of the structure of liquids composed of light elements at extreme conditions

Roughness Effects on Dense-Gas Turbine Flow: Comparison of Experiments and Simulations

    No full text
International audienceThis article presents a combined numerical and experimental study of the high-subsonic organic vapor flow in a linear turbine cascade. The profile geometry is the well-documented LS59 highly loaded rotor blade and the working fluid is Novec649, a dense gas used in organic Rankine cycles. Large eddy simulations are carried out with and without the roughness introduced by the additive manufacturing process. The results for the rough blade are in fair agreement with experiments, while the smooth surface induces a change in the vortex shedding regime. A detached shedding, characterized by a long recirculation downstream of the trailing edge and a base pressure plateau, is obtained in the experiments and by discretizing the roughness in the simulation. By contrast, a transonic vortex shedding is established when the surface is smooth: intense vortices roll up immediately after the trailing edge, yielding a short bubble and a lattice of shock waves. A strong pressure drop is observed at the trailing edge, resulting in high profile losses. In both cases, the boundary layer is turbulent ahead of the separation, but its thickness is significantly greater in the rough configuration, which may be the reason for the change of regime

    No full text

Quantum-enhanced Deep Learning for Severe Weather Prediction : a 10-qubit QCNN-LSTM for Bow Echo Forecasting

    No full text
Article soumis à la revue Quantum Machine Intelligence (Springer), actuellement en cours d’évaluation. We present a quantum-enhanced deep learning framework for short-term forecasting of extreme convective weather systems, specifically targeting the formation of bow echo structures through cloud prediction. Our approach integrates a Quantum Convolutional Neural Network (QCNN) with a classical CNN-LSTM pipeline, incorporating a 10-qubit variational quantum circuit executed on the lightning.qubit simulator. The model is trained using heterogeneous meteorological data (satellite images, CAPE fields, lightning activity) from the extreme storm that hit the Corsican coast on August 18, 2022, preceding the convective event and evaluated during the critical intensification window (07h00-08h00). We compare this hybrid quantum model to classical CNN-LSTM and CNN-LSTM-Transformer architectures using three complementary metrics : Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), and Wasserstein Distance. The quantum model demonstrates superior robustness to input noise and adversarial perturbations (FGSM), maintaining spatial coherence and prediction stability under degradation. These findings highlight the capacity of quantum circuits to encode more resilient representations for meteorological inference. This study offers a concrete application of hybrid quantum-classical neural architectures in the domain of extreme weather forecasting and paves the way for future integration of Topological Data Analysis (TDA) to assess the preservation of topological features in quantum predictions.</div

    No full text
International audienceThis article is based on data from a research-intervention that combines approaches borrowed from work psychology - clinical approach of activity - and ergonomics. It aims to question the innocuity of various computer malfunctions, described as “pain points” (“irritants” in French), a concept used by the actors involved in the research field. The context is a public body in which social dialogue is strained regarding issues pertaining to digital transformation (“transformation numérique” being the term used by the institution) - which has substantially accelerated in recent years. The commissioning parties were looking to examine the relationship between digital transformation, work activity and the occupational health of workers in courts. The potential impact on workers’ health is approached through an analysis of their work activity. The various reactions to socio-technical hurdles are examined in terms of the links between health and work (quality, meaning). We study four situations taking place in the same office of a public body. The purpose of these case studies is to discuss how these socio-technical hurdles affect the subjects, and how they affect and degrade the activity and its conditions of realization, or, on the contrary, how under certain conditions they might favor a development of the activity. From the perspective of the clinical approach of uses, we propose to use these socio-technical hurdles as revealers of activity - its rules and values - and more generally of the organizational conditions that determine it. These socio-technical hurdles will enable us to examine the manner in which professionals experience, construct and regulate their relationships with others (collective component), with the activity (pragmatic component) and with themselves (subjective component) in order to act and develop.
