A stated preferences experiment to analyze bike sharing as an alternative transport mode
Seite der Konferenz: https://transp-or.epfl.ch/heart/2022.phpCurrently, parameters for neither mode- nor route choice are available in terms of bike-sharing, resulting in a lack of knowledge to implement bike-sharing systems in transport demand models. Estimating such parameters is the aim of a stated preferences experiment on choices between shared bikes, public transport, and private motorized transport. Preliminary results of a multinomial logit model on a sample of 69 non-users and users of bike-sharing systems are presented. For all modes, travel costs have a negative effect on the associated utility of transport
mode. Travel time shows a negative effect for all modes, while for shared bike and public transport access and egress time has a stronger effect than time in the vehicle. For bicycling, street type has no effect, while asphalt is the most preferred type of street surface. The utility of public transport is lower with higher utilized capacity.Published Versio
The Path to the EU Regulation Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCA)
Früherer Titel der Serie: bis 07/2019 wifi Working PaperThis paper provides background to the upcoming EU regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA). The first step to regulate crypto-assets at EU level was taken by including virtual currencies in the revision of the Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5AMLD) which came into force 2018. Initial coin offerings fueled growth to a market with a variety of crypto-assets (payment, investment/security, utility and hybrid tokens). In principle, MiFID II should cover investment/security tokens by treating these as financial instruments. In January 2019, EBA and ESMA identified regulatory gaps at EU level. The announcement on the stablecoin project Libra in June 2019 sent shockwaves and led to defensive reaction against global stablecoins by regulators in light of significant risks and challenges posed. The EU institutions adopted strict positions against global stablecoins taken by the G7 and the G20. In September 2020, the European Commission launched the MiCA draft legislation to plug regulatory gaps concerning payment (including stablecoins) and utility tokens. Issuers, offerors and service providers of crypto-assets that are not financial instruments would be regulated under MiCA at EU level. Stricter rules should apply for stablecoins. After negotiations between the EU institutions, the final agreed MiCA text will go to plenary vote soon. The EU regulation will come into force in the EU member states in 2024. Many additional areas of action (Decentralized Finance, non-fungible tokens, EU taxonomy for sustainable activities) had to be left out from the MiCA scope for the sake of finalising the legislation

This dissertation looks at the field of social work at school from a perspective of education theory. With view towards the current state of impact research in the field, the key interest of the dissertation is in individual ways of appropriation and strategies of use. Through a profession theory lens in Neuere Dienstleistungstheorie, social work is reconceptualised as a person-related social service. This conceptualisation is premised on the idea that social workers at school, as professionals of social work, support students, as users, within co-production processes. To adequately decipher strategies of use, the thesis approaches the empirical data from a radical subject-oriented perspective situated within social pedagogy user research. Qualitative inter-viewing was used to investigate the perspectives of students as users. Based on the documentary method, several modi socii and distinct user strategies of the service social work at school were retrieved from the narrations
A New Control Strategy for Energy Management of Bidirectional Chargers for Electric Vehicles to Minimize Peak Load in Low-Voltage Grids with PV Generation
This paper introduces a new bidirectional vehicle-to-grid (V2G) control strategy for energy
management of V2G charging points equipped with photovoltaic systems (PVs), considering the
interaction between V2G chargers, electric vehicle (EV) owners, and the network operator. The
proposed method aims to minimize peak load, grid infeed power, feeder loading, and transformer
loading by scheduling EVs charging and discharging. The simulation experiments take into account
three EV battery capacities as well as two levels of EV penetration. In order to validate the effectiveness
of the proposed approach, five scenarios are studied in a single feeder of a low-voltage (LV)
distribution network in DIgSILENT PowerFactory, which comprises a combination of residential
and commercial loads as well as PV systems. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed V2G
strategy improves the paper’s objectives by providing ancillary services to the grid.Published Versio
