Evidence of the short-lived American Christian Publication Society appears on page 48, where its Constitution is printed. Alexander Campbell raised questions about the need for the Society in the December 1853 Millennial Harbinger. W. K. Pendleton argued, contra Benjamin Franklin in the Christian Age, against its existence in April and June 1854. The discussion continued throughout 1854 into early 1855 in the Christian Age and the Millennial Harbinger. Participating in the heated discussion are Thomas Jefferson Melish, and Benjamin Franklin (in the Christian Age) and Alexander Campbell and W. K.
