    The Contribution of Pesantren to Sustainable and Social Education: A Narrative Review

    Pesantren, as Islamic educational institutions, play a crucial role in shaping the character of students (santri) and contributing to community development. This study conducts a narrative review to examine the role of pesantren in sustainable and social education by reviewing literature published between 2015 and 2025. The search strategy included national and international journal databases using keywords such as “pesantren AND sustainable education,” “eco‑pesantren,” and “community empowerment.” Out of 120 identified articles, 52 met the inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis revealed four primary roles of pesantren: (1) integration of sustainable education principles (edu-ecoliteracy), (2) development of eco-pesantren and environmental awareness, (3) social and economic community empowerment, and (4) strengthening of social character and leadership among students. The findings also highlight significant challenges, including limited resources, inadequate policy support, and low digital literacy. This study confirms that pesantren are strategic actors in sustainable and social education, providing recommendations for future research on evaluating eco-pesantren programs, developing sustainable curricula, and integrating educational technology

    Integrating Spirituality, Culture, and Technology through a Living Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education at Islamic Boarding Schools

    The Living Islamic Religious Education Curriculum (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) represents an educational paradigm that emphasizes the internalization and sustainability of Islamic values within students’ everyday lives. Central to this approach is the integration of spirituality, culture, and technology, which expands the scope of Islamic education beyond knowledge transmission toward character formation and personal transformation. This synergistic integration enables students to develop religious identities that are rooted in local cultural contexts while remaining responsive and competitive in a globalized environment, particularly within Islamic boarding school settings. Al Otsmani Islamic Boarding School serves as a representative case of this integrated curriculum implementation. The institution aligns its curriculum with the National Education Calendar, adapts learning materials to students’ contextual needs, and equips learners with both religious knowledge and essential soft skills. This study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing descriptive data collected through observations and in-depth interviews. Such methods allow for a comprehensive exploration of curriculum practices and their lived implementation within the boarding school environment. The findings reveal that Al Otsmani Islamic Boarding School has undergone a significant educational transformation by integrating spiritual values across formal and traditional learning systems. This integration reflects the core principles of the PAI Living Curriculum, emphasizing the relevance of local culture and the practical application of Islamic values in students’ daily lives. Overall, the study highlights the potential of the Living PAI Curriculum as a holistic educational model that fosters spiritual depth, cultural awareness, and adaptive competencies in contemporary Islamic education contexts

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menerapkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi di SMPN 1 Simpang Empat, Kabupaten Banjar, guna meningkatkan motivasi dan kualitas belajar peserta didik, khususnya dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan tindakan kelas yang melibatkan diskusi dengan kepala sekolah dan rekan sejawat untuk merencanakan pembelajaran, serta asesmen awal untuk mengetahui kebutuhan belajar peserta didik. Selama penerapan pembelajaran, dilakukan kolaborasi antara guru untuk menggunakan strategi yang tepat dan memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal sebagai media pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berhasil meningkatkan perhatian dan partisipasi aktif peserta didik. Peserta didik yang sebelumnya kurang tertarik dengan pembelajaran matematika menjadi lebih termotivasi dan aktif, dengan bukti keterlibatan mereka dalam kegiatan kelompok dan diskusi. Pembelajaran yang bervariasi, seperti penggunaan media gambar, video, dan kegiatan berbasis gerak, membantu peserta didik memahami materi dengan lebih baik dan membuat pengalaman belajar menjadi lebih bermakna

    Pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika dengan mengaitkan kearifan budaya lokal, seperti rumah adat, kain tenun, moko, dan gong Alor, membantu peserta didik memahami konsep matematika secara kontekstual dan mengenal keberagaman budaya melalui multimedia. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji kelayakan produk video pembelajaran matematika pada materi bangun datar serta mengetahui respon peserta didik Kelas VI SD Islam Cokroaminoto 1 Kalabahi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa multimedia berbasis Renderforest dan etnomatematika layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran, meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterlibatan peserta didik

    The Effect of Implementing the Problem Posing Learning Model on the Self-Efficacy Ability of High School Students

    This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Problem Posing learning model on students' self-efficacy. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent post-test only control group design was used. The research subjects were 11th-grade science students at Muhammadiyah Mlati Senior High School, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and observations. The instruments consisted of post-test questions to assess self-efficacy and observation sheets to evaluate teacher activities. Data analysis used a two-way ANOVA technique. The results showed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than the 0.05 significance level. This indicates that the regression coefficient is statistically significant, and the H0 was rejected. These findings suggest that the Problem Posing learning model significantly affects students’ self-efficacy. The model contributes to 85.6% of the observed increase in students' self-efficacy. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Posing learning model plays an important role in enhancing students’ confidence in their academic abilities, making it a potentially effective instructional strategy in science education

    Community Engagement for Coastal Abrasion Mitigation at Tanjung Beach, Rangsang Barat, Riau

    This action aims to reduce the impact of abrasion on Tanjung Motong Beach, Permai Village. The 40 Days Challenge Team of SMAN 1 Rangsang Barat, together with the community around the beach and teachers, have planted mangrove trees, which are an effective and sustainable solution to reduce the impact of abrasion. This action consists of 5 ongoing weeks, the first week is conducting surveys and observations on Tanjung Motong Beach, the second week is collecting data on abrasion on Tanjung Motong Beach, and sowing mangrove seeds. Our team sowed 250 mangrove seeds from the api-api species, the third week provided education to residents living around Tanjung Motong Beach, conducted socialization and provided education to school residents, and interviewed several residents living around the coast of Tanjung Motong Beach. The fourth week, planting mangrove seedlings on Tanjung Motong Beach, Permai Village, the fifth week monitoring the development of mangrove seedlings that have been planted, monitoring small mangrove seedlings (not old enough to be planted on the beach), and evaluating the growth and development of mangrove seedlings that have been planted on Tanjung Motong Beach. The positive impact of planting mangrove trees not only helps prevent abrasion, but also contributes to improving the quality of the ecosystem, such as increasing biodiversity and reducing damage from sea waves

    The Impact of Thematic Worksheet-Assisted Meaningful Learning Implementation on Students' Mathematical Concept Understanding and Metacognitive Skills

    This study aims to examine the impact of meaningful learning implementation assisted by thematic worksheets on students' mathematical concept understanding and metacognitive skills using a quantitative descriptive approach. The research employs a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, specifically the One Shot Case Study design, and uses simple random sampling for sampling techniques. The study was conducted in class XI of Dirgantara Putra Bangsa Vocational High School in October 2024, with 30 students participating. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires on the implementation of meaningful thematic learning assisted by worksheets, metacognitive skills questionnaires, and tests on mathematical concept understanding. The results of the study indicate that: (1) Student responses to meaningful learning assisted by thematic worksheets reached 74.62%, categorized as good; (2) The implementation of meaningful learning assisted by thematic worksheets influenced students' mathematical concept understanding by 88.1%; (3) The implementation also impacted students' metacognitive skills with a contribution of 18.9%. These findings suggest that integrating thematic worksheets into meaningful learning enhances both cognitive and metacognitive outcomes. Future research should consider using more relevant or contemporary themes and exploring broader applications across subjects

    Pengembangan Video Pembelajaran Berbasis Renderforest untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah dan Berpikir Kritis Peserta Didik

    Teknologi telah memainkan peran penting dalam mendukung pembelajaran, dengan video sebagai alat yang efektif untuk membantu siswa belajar secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran berbasis video guna meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dan memfasilitasi berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE, yang mencakup tahap Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan e-instrumen yang melibatkan ahli media, ahli evaluasi, dan pengguna. Hasil validasi ahli evaluasi menunjukkan skor 91% dan 88%, yang menandakan bahwa media ini valid. Hasil validasi ahli media menunjukkan skor 86% dan 90%, yang berarti bahwa video pembelajaran yang menggunakan Renderforest layak digunakan. Respon pengguna mencapai 89%, menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran ini sangat layak diterapkan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di abad ke-21.

    School Strategies in Recording Student Discipline Violations through the TPD App

    This study seeks to identify the types of disciplinary violations committed by students, explore how the TPD App facilitates the documentation of such violations, and examine strategies that can be implemented to minimize these infractions. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, the study was conducted at Unggulan Aisyiyah Junior High School, a private institution located in Yogyakarta. Data were collected through a combination of observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews involving guidance and counseling teachers, the school principal, and a review of relevant institutional documents. The findings reveal two key insights. First, this application significantly enhances the process of recording student disciplinary violations, with a total of 561 infractions documented across 33 categories. Second, some of these violations may be mitigated through the provision of more intensive student support services—specifically, through the implementation of effective and efficient classical guidance and counseling interventions. These findings underscore the importance of integrating digital tools with targeted counseling strategies to promote student discipline. It is anticipated that the results of this study will contribute to the body of knowledge on school discipline and serve as a foundation for future research in the field

    The Role of Student Organization and Islamic Education in Cultivating Religious Moderation among Students

    This article explores how Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam or PAI) teachers foster students' attitudes toward religious moderation as a unifying force for the nation. The study concludes that students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tepus Gunungkidul, Indonesia (a private junior high school) actively participate in Rohis (Islamic Student Organization). This engagement is attributed to the students' educational backgrounds, as most are graduates of elementary schools in Gunungkidul, where mandatory programs include religious activities both in schools and their local communities. PAI teachers play a pivotal role in cultivating students' understanding and practice of religious moderation through both instructional and extracurricular Islamic activities. Under the guidance of these teachers and through the platform of school-based Islamic organizations such as Rohis, students engage in activities such as religious studies, social outreach programs, and initiatives to promote national unity and patriotism. These efforts serve as a foundation for fostering cohesion and solidarity among the nation's youth
