Effectiveness of Sansevieria Plants to Purify the VOCs in Air Caused by the Use of Febreeze and Diffuser Contaminants
Get PDFVolatile organic compounds (VOCs) are a danger to every household that has access to chemical products such as air fresheners or select cleaning products. VOCs are dangerous when people are around high concentrations for any extended period. This experiment was conducted to examine the ability of sansevieria plants to filter VOCs added from normal household products. The plants used in this experiment were propagated into smaller pieces in order to fit into capsules. To begin testing, the contaminants were added to the capsules and the VOC levels were measured overtime with the Ion Science Tiger sensor. The basic trend of the measurements for both weeks were not exactly conclusive but did show changes in VOC levels over time

Before a RD is able to help ensure proper nutrition for the patient they must the make sure the meal was safely prepared as well as obtained and will not cause any unintentional harm to the patient by causing a foodborne illness. Countless hours of education is incorporated into every undergraduate program to prepare RDs to stop the spread of foodborne illness before it ever has the chance to make it into their facility (Medeiros & Buffer, 2012). People working in LTCFs must be especially diligent due to the increased risk of infection of their patients. Strict prevention measures are taken so both family members and patients can rest assured that they may eat with confidence and safety

Characteristics of Public School Principals: Analysis of the National Teacher and Principal Survey
Get PDFGender and racial diversity in the principalship, or the lack thereof, has been a topic for research for several years. While the concerns about general disparity are widely discussed, it is equally important to consider where underrepresented groups are typically hired, such as urban schools with high-poverty levels. Discrepancies in hiring have implications for promotion into superintendent and other educational leadership positions, as well as for overall financial compensation, where minority groups such as females and races other than White are forced to take lower-level jobs or jobs at the same level for less pay than their White male counterparts. Existing data from the 2017-18 United States National Teacher and Principal Survey were used to perform Chi-Square Tests for Association to evaluate how the gender and race of public school principals are distributed across various factors. We found there is a statistically significant association between race and community type, race and school poverty levels, age and school level, gender and community type, gender and school level, and gender and school poverty level. Findings suggest Black and Hispanic teachers are more likely to be overrepresented in city schools that have high poverty levels, while females are more likely to be overrepresented in city primary schools with high poverty levels

Even with limited resources, succession planning adds value to smaller organizations. An analysis of the current talent within a given organization can aid in developing backups and potential successors for any critical roles. Maintaining competitive salaries with labor markets is not feasible for smaller organizations, which makes succession planning much more important. Having development programs, cross-training, and mentoring programs inside of succession planning allows an organization to develop and retain potential successors. No full textPeer Perceptions of Parent-Students Seeking Higher Education
Get PDFWith a growing number of parents pursuing academia, it is imperative that researchers understand the social environment in which parent-students function. Stereotypes of parent-students may be held by peers, faculty, and other educational supervisors. Across two previous independent studies, evidence and rationale were provided to suggest that both positive and negative perceptions of parent-students exist, with noted differences between gender. The purpose of the current 2x2x2 between-subjects study was to analyze the social perceptions of students enrolled in higher education as varied by parenthood status, age, and gender. The social perceptions included measures accounting for perceptions of intelligence and academic success, personality, and level of parental involvement. Findings indicated a significant difference in perceptions of intelligence and academic success across age and parenthood status, such that parents were perceived as more friendly and hardworking in academia, and younger parent-students particularly were perceived to choose more difficult academic majors as compared to their same-age, childless counterparts. The findings of this study, both statistically significant and non-significant, contribute to the expansion of the limited knowledge base of perceptions of parent-students
