The news is accompanied by a misleading headline that states that Sri Lanka has already lost the service. Also, on October 26 Colombo Times and on October 27 Dinamina reported the news about a carriage (පෙට්ටි) of සියනෑ කුමාරි train breaking away. Colombo times has reported this with a misleading headline that carried a sexual connotation of පෙට්ටි. Complying with media ethical guidelines Dinamina reported the same with the headline 'මැදිරියක් ගැලවී යයි

The tv channels Sirasa, Swarnawahini, Siyatha, Hiru, Derana, had the news coverage of the police firing tear gas at protestors in front of police headquarters in headlines, while ITN and Rupavahini did not have the news on their headlines.
The tv channels ITN and Rupavahini reports of a conspiracy against the government through the protests that took place in Galle Face Green and in front of the Temple Trees. However, none of the other tv channels reported this story.
The tv channels Rupavahini and ITN reported the protests in GotaGoGama that took place as an attempt to disrupt IMF discussions while Sirasa and Derana reported that the same protests took place against the president’s birthday
