This entry has two infographics and two write-ups (all in Sinhala). On 03 June 2023, Sinhala and Tamil newspapers reported that persons involved in the operations of a fraudulent office in close proximity to Department of Motor Traffic had been arrested. Divaina and Thinakaran mentioned that a woman was among the 3 persons who were arrested. This was discriminatory reporting because women were highlighted in negative contexts. However, Lankadeepa, Veerakesari and Dinamina did not mention that a woman was among those who were arrested, thereby refraining from discriminating against women in their reporting.
On 12 June Dinamina and Lankadeepa reported on a road accident that had occurred between a trishaw and a van. Both papers highlighted that the driver was a woman

Is Maldives going down Sri Lanka's path?: Concern on Budget Deficits
This infographic was posted on the Public Finance Platform and is in English.Besides 2017 and 2018, Sri Lanka’s annual Primary Balance has consistently been a deficit with 2021 reporting the largest deficit of 6 percent. Maldives follows a consecutive negative trend in their Primary Balance with the largest deficit of 21 percent in 2020. These numbers signal a similar path to Sri Lanka for Maldives in terms of their Primary Balances. When looking at Budget Balances, Sri Lanka and Maldives appear to be following a similar trend. Both countries exhibit a similar trend of having large deficits. For both Maldives and Sri Lanka the largest deficits are seen in 2020, 23% for Maldives and 13% for Sri Lanka. Running persistent deficits would add a significant debt burden to the economy as they need to be financed by borrowing making it vulnerable to an economic crisis
Sri Lanka met 25% of IMF commitments and failed 1 by March
These infographics were posted on the Public Finance Platform and are in all three languages: English, Sinhala and Tamil.Sri Lanka had met 25% of the trackable programme commitments of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme as at the end of March 2023 but had failed on one. Many of the commitments met were classified as “prior actions” and met prior to the programme being approved by the IMF Board. The Failed Commitment is the establishment of an online transparency platform. Lack of Information is also a concern. As at end March, 9% of the identified commitments had their progress status in the tracker classified as “unknown”. This means the information required to make an assessment was not available

"අරගලය" අදාළ ද?
This entry includes a write-up and an infographic (both in Sinhala). On May 23, 2023, Dinamina, Lankadeepa, Aruna, and Mawbima reported on an incident where a special task force raided a sex work racket and arrested seven individuals. When reporting, three newspapers Dinamina, Lankadeepa, and Aruna highlighted that the racket was led by an individual associated with the aragalaya (අරගලය) protest movement in the heading when irrelevant to the context of the news, whereas Mawbima did not mention such in the heading. Such media reporting contributes towards the discrediting of the protest movement. The reports also used the derogatory term "Ganika" (ගණිකා) in the heading, which stigmatises those who engage in sex work
