The National People's Power (NPP) secured the highest number of votes with 17,326, followed by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) with 1,623 votes, and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) with 1,293 votes. The total number of valid votes cast was 21,676, while 572 votes were classified as "sleeping votes.

In their coverage, the masseuse was referred to as "ස්පා කෙල්ල​ (Spa Kella)" and "ස්පා කත (Spa Katha)" terms which may be considered disrespectful. In contrast, Dinamina and Ada newspapers used the more appropriate term "සම්බාහන සේවිකාව (Sambahana Sewikawa)". In the editorial, they described the woman’s physical appearance, a practice that can contribute to the objectification and stereotyping of women, as well as sensationalising the report.
