    This infographic was posted on the Public Finance Platform in English and Sinhala.On 6 December, Parliament approved the 2025 Vote on Account (VOA) without a vote, allocating funds for government spending in the first four months of the year. The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation has received the highest ministerial allocation of LKR 220 billion in the 2025 VOA, driven by significant capital expenditure amounting to LKR 203 billion. While in 2024, the largest allocation was for the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies receiving LKR 1,077 annually. The top 8 ministries in the 2025 VOA collectively accounted for 92% of the total ministerial allocation, with the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government receiving the second-highest allocation of LKR 196 billion. Other key ministries like the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (LKR 186 billion) and the Ministry of Health and Mass Media (LKR 162 billion) also received relatively substantial funding

    This entry includes a write-up and two infographics on the airtime allocated to report the first public rally of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ during their prime Sinhala news bulletins and the airtime allocated for speakers on TV Derana television channel (both in Sinhala).On June 18, 2024, the Ethics Eye team published two infographics presenting charts that compared the airtime allocated to reporting the first public rally of ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ during the prime-time Sinhala news bulletins, as well as the airtime given to individual speakers at the rally on the TV Derana channel. The infographics shows that TV Derana allocated more airtime to the event than Swarnawahini, Hiru TV, Sirasa, Siyatha, and Rupavahini, while ITN did not cover it at all. The data further indicated that TV Derana gave significantly more airtime to Dilith Jayaweera’s speech than to the other speakers at the rally

The newspaper used a trivial headline containing the derogatory term “Gura” (ගුරා) and “Sipagath” (සිපගත්). However, in the content, Dinamina used more appropriate terms such as “Guruwarayek” (ගුරුවරයෙක්) and “Lingika Athawara” (ලිංගික අතවර) to describe the incident. Furthermore, mentioning the suspect's profession in the headline can promote marginalisation of the profession and is considered unethical. The media is advised to avoid using derogatory or trivial language that stirs up emotions and to adhere to ethical reporting standards
