Does COVID-19 pandemic trigger career anxiety in tourism students? Exploring the role of psychological resilience
To understand tourism and events commuter students’ motivations, engagement, and learning experiences, semi-structured interviews with 14 students at a university in the UK were under- taken. These interviews revealed that in addition to increased tuition fees which incentivise the presumed cost-effective choice of commuting, mental health issues appear to be another major reason why commuter students decide to stay at home for the duration of their course. The findings also indicate that while commuter students in this study tended to prioritise their aca- demic integration, social integration with peers and participating in extracurricular activities were lacking, thus hindering their sense of belonging. As a result, several recommendations for universities are identified and proposed which could enhance commuter students’ sense of belonging. While the findings are particularly relevant to policymakers and academics in the UK, they resonate more widely in an era of changes in higher education on a global scale
Histopathological Overview of Experimental Ulcer Models
Histopathology is the process of examining tissue that includes all the changes, when a diseased tissue shows compared to a healthy group with a result of a histological observation. Histopathology has become an essential process in medical experimental research and medical experimental models. Scientists have developed medical experimental animal models for these reasons and have pioneered new drug research for many years. One of these experimental researches is experimental ulcer models. This model, which was initially a single method, has led to the emergence of new models with the discovery of physiological processes on ulcers by scientists. Nowadays, researchers have performed many new peptic ulcer models on experimental animals over the years. The main point in the creation of the ulcer model is the increase in the stomach acid level and the removal or corruption of the gastric mucus. When the experimental models were examined histopathologically, it was seen that the most severe models were those induced by pyloric ligation, acetic acid application, and indomethacin. In these models, ulcer foci that progressed to the submucosa were common, while the superficial damage spreading to the entire surface was striking in the ethanol model. While epithelial losses are shown on the surface of the mucosa, foci of necrotic apoptotic cell clusters extending to the submucosa are shown according to the weight of the model. In addition, evidence of inflammation has been shared in almost all studies. All these results show that ulcer models can be created by many different mechanisms. However, similar findings were observed in almost all experiments. Whether the experimental model caused severe or mild ulceration changed the histological findings

Pediatric Scorpionism in Southwest Turkey: The Experience of a Training and Research Hospital
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and laboratory features and prognosis of scorpion stings in children. Methods: This was a retrospective study of children with scorpion stings, who were admitted to the pediatric emergency department in Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) Training and Research Hospital between the 1st of January 2019 and the 31st of December 2020. Demographic data, admission date, time periods from sting to admission to hospital and geographical location in which the sting occurred were recorded. Recordings were also made of the affected body sites, local and systemic signs and symptoms of envenomation, results of hematological and biochemical laboratory tests, management, length of hospital stay and outcome. Results: In total, medical records of 111 children were reviewed. Patients were separated according to the clinical findings into three groups, seventy patients (63.1%) with mild symptoms and thirty-four patients (30.6%) with moderate symptoms, seven patients (6.3%) with severe symptoms. There was one exitus due to scorpion stings in the study period. Forty-one (37%) patients were hospitalised, and seven patients (6.3%) were hospitalised in the pediatric intensive care unit. Five patients (4%) received doxazosin and nineteen (17%) patients had antivenom therapy. Hospitalization in the intensive care unit was necessary for seven cases. No patient exhibited sequelae at the hospital discharge. Conclusions: Scorpion stings in our region mostly result in mild envenomation. Doxazosin, an analog of prazosin more readily available in our country, can be considered as a treatment option in serious scorpion envenomations with significant sympathetic symptoms
Mixed Convection from Inclined Square Cylinder in a Square Cavity
In this work, mixed convection from an inclined square cylinder in a cavity is numerically investigated. A commercial CFD solver Ansys Fluent is used to solve the problem. First, the inclined square cylinder is located at the center of the cavity, then the location of the cylinder is changed along the x-axis. The cavity walls are assumed to be adiabatic and the cylinder walls are assumed to be isothermal boundary condition. The Reynolds number, Re varies from 100 to 300 and the Grashof numbers, Gr range from 103 to 105 throughout the work. The working fluid is chosen as air at Prandtl number, Pr = 0.7. The Nusselt number, Nu variations, the distributions of velocity and isotherms are presented in Tables and Figures

Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis and steroid use during the pandemic of COVID-19
BACKGROUND: Steroid therapy is an immunosuppressive treatment and may have possible side effects in a pandemic period. However, the number of studies on the use corticosteroids for the treatment of idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis (IGM) especially during the pandemic is almost negligible. METHODS: The data of patients with the diagnosis of IGM between January–December 2020 in the General Surgery Clinic were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were explained in detail that steroid therapy is an immunosuppressive treatment and it may have possible side effects. Prednisolone 0.5–1 mg/kg/day was given as steroid therapy. The treatment was planned for 4–6 months according to the severity of the symptoms and was completed by reducing it to a total dose of 10 mg/month. RESULTS: Eleven patients were included in the study. Five patients had completed steroid treatment and continued their followup. In our study, a total of six patients were receiving steroid therapy. CONCLUSIONS: There is no consensus yet on the use of the steroid in the COVID-19 pandemic. Low doses Corticosteroids (<1 mg/kg/day) don’t have an effect on increase mortality in patients with severe COVID-19. We can think that low-dose corticosteroids used by many centers in IGM treatment do not have a negative effect on mortalit
Three dimensional patient-specific guides for guide pin positioning in reverse shoulder arthroplasty: An experimental study on different glenoid types
Abstract Introduction: Incorrect positioning is one of the main factors for glenoid component loosening in reverse shoulder arthroplasty and component placement can be challenging. This study aimed to assess whether Patient-Specific Instrumentation (PSI) provides better guide pin positioning accuracy and is superior to standard guided and freehand instrumentation methods in cases of glenoid bone deformity. Materials and Methods: Based on the Walch classification, five different scapula types were acquired by computed tomography (CT). For each type, two different surgeons placed a guide pin into the scapula using three different methods: freehand method, conventional non-patient-specific guide, and PSI guide. Each method was repeated five times by both surgeons. In these experiments, a total of 150 samples of scapula models were used (5 × 2 × 3 × 5 = 150). Post-operative CT scans of the samples with the guide pin were digitally assessed and the accuracy of the pin placement was determined by comparison to the preoperative planning on a three-dimensional (3D) model. Results: The PSI method showed accuracies to the preoperative plan of 2.68 (SD 2.10) degrees for version angle (p < .05), 2.59 (SD 2.68) degrees for inclination angle (p < .05), and 1.55 (SD 1.26) mm for entry point offset (p < .05). The mean and standard deviation errors compared to planned values of version angle, inclination angle, and entry point offset were statistically significant for the PSI method for the type C defected glenoid and non-arthritic glenoid. Conclusion: Using the PSI guide created by an image processing software tool for guide pin positioning showed advantages in glenoid component positioning over other methods, for defected and intact glenoid types, but correlation with clinical outcomes should be examined
A Numerical Investigation for the Effect of Environmental Conditions on the Bending Behaviour of Laminated Composites
In this study, the bending behavior of fiber-reinforced laminated composites (FRCs) with a balanced and symmetric stacking sequence was investigated numerically under different environmental conditions. The numerical models of carbon/ bismaleimide, carbon/epoxy, and S-glass/epoxy laminated composites were designed and analyzed using ESAComp software. Deformation of the FRCs models was simulated with three-point bending conditions and the effects of material properties varying with environmental conditions on the flexural analysis were investigated according to the Tsai-Wu criterion and the Puck criterion. The Tsai-Wu criterion detects the failure of FRCs earlier and behaves more conservative than the Puck criterion for all environmental conditions. The flexural strength and failure mode of the laminates vary with the variation of environmental conditions. The order of the first damaged ply varied depending on the type of reinforcing fiber. Especially the presence of moisture and high temperature significantly influences the flexural strength of the laminated composites
