Substance Abuse Services Amongst Indigenous People: Therapist Perspectives
No full textThe purpose of the study was to explore the understanding of therapists' culturally responsive support when working with Indigenous people diagnosed with substance use disorder (SUD). The study was designed to help social workers better understand how to approach the communities of tribal members who are suffering from SUD and understand what interventions may be more helpful for others. By conducting an ethnographic qualitative research study and using in-depth interviews with therapists, the research analyzed the mechanics, impacts, and effects of culturally responsive support. More specifically, interviews probed the culture's social interactions, behaviors, and perceptions between the therapist and the client. The participants were asked specific questions regarding treatment approaches, integration of Indigenous healing practices, stigma, cultural barriers, and challenges. The major findings suggested that there is a lack of collaboration, trainings, and community involvement when working with Indigenous people as clinical providers
Beyond GDP: Data-Driven Analysis of Sustainable Development Pathways Through Health, Education, and Environmental Resilience Across Top-Performing Economies
No full text[ABSTRACT ONLY, NO FULL TEXT] This research examines the connections between economic results and sustainability aspects in twenty internationally thriving national economies. The analysis investigates developmental directions and social welfare assessment through holistic education system reviews of healthcare management structures alongside environmental regulation procedures, despite disregarding traditional GDP assessments. The study examines these organizational relations through 11 targeted research inquiries organized in three thematic sections. Education and Workforce Development is the first domain that studies tertiary enrollment levels, digital literacy, and STEM program funding. Health and Societal Well-Being investigates societal mental health services while assessing public healthcare spending along with its effects on an aging demographic. Environmental Resilience and Climate Adaptation are addressed by analyzing economic disasters that respond to climate change, sustainability approaches to water resources, and green infrastructure returns. The project investigates variable relationships through multivariate regression along with classification modeling, neural network assessment, and hypothesis testing to find linear and complex non-linear patterns in its variables. The study depends on data from diverse areas containing economic performance indicators, social measurements, environmental data, and governance metrics while maintaining balanced area representation. Public sector policy integration between education, health services, and environment management strengthens economic stability, social solidarity, and sustainability practices. This research guides policymakers in promoting sustainable growth and societal well-being
TRANSFORMATIVE PEDAGOGY: CULTIVATING EQUITY IN EDUCATION
No full textThis thesis explores the use of podcasts as a form of public pedagogy to support teachers learn about social justice in education. In a political climate marked by diminished federal support for equity-focused initiatives, educators—new and veteran teachers—are often left to navigate complex classroom dynamics without sufficient training or accessible professional development. Traditional models of teacher learning frequently fail to address these needs due to time constraints, lack of contextual relevance, and limited flexibility. To address this gap, this project developed and implemented a six-episode podcast series focused on themes of equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching. Grounded in interdisciplinary research from teacher education, sociology, and ethnic studies, the project used pre- and post-surveys to assess participants' awareness, attitudes, and readiness to engage with social justice in their classrooms before and after listening to the podcast. Findings suggest that podcast-based learning offers a low-maintenance, accessible, and reflective avenue for professional growth, making it a viable model for ongoing, equity-centered educator development. The thesis contributes to the broader discourse on how public pedagogy can support systemic transformation in education through grassroots, teacher-driven engagement

We Need to Talk About Mass Consumption and the Influencer Impact
Get PDFThis research will focus on the impact of TikTok influencer marketing on consumer behavior and how it fuels mass consumption. The social media platform's increasing popularity and highly personalized algorithm has created a culture of overconsumption through constant product endorsements. TikTok influencers, particularly in the beauty community, have developed cult-like followings in which their audiences have parasocial relationships that greatly influence purchasing behaviors, often leading to impulsive and excessive consumption at an unprecedented rate. This study is grounded in Karl Marx's political economy theory and examines how contemporary economic systems and power dynamics between large brands, influencers, and their followers normalize mass consumption. Through a comprehensive literature review, this graduate project explores influencer culture. Modern social media marketing, including organic and sponsored content are examined to understand how overconsumption is encouraged under the guise of a false trust in influencers. Additionally, the psychology of a consumer is used to analyze motives behind impulse purchasing behaviors. Lastly, the de-influencing movement is applied to analyze a response to the rise of overconsumption
The Decline of Dollar Dominance: China's Challenge to U.S. Economic Hegemony
No full textThe dominance of the U.S. dollar in the global financial system has long been a cornerstone of American geopolitical power. Recent developments in the international economic order, however, suggest that this hegemony is facing significant shifts. This paper examines the process of de-dollarization, as spearheaded by China, and institutionalized through economic coalitions such as BRICS, to assess possible implications for U.S. financial and political influence. By utilizing Hegemonic Stability Theory as a theoretical framework, this paper analyzes historical monetary trends, the structural vulnerabilities of the dollar-centric system, and the mechanisms through which China and its BRICS counterparts are promoting alternative financial structures. Additionally, by evaluating China's Belt and Road Initiative, the increasing use of renminbi in international trade and finance, and the development of BRICS institutions like the New Development Bank, this paper argues that de-dollarization is not merely a shift in currency preferences but a fundamental challenge to the post-WWII global financial order. While the U.S. dollar certainly remains dominant, continued economic realignments could accelerate a transition towards a multipolar financial system, thus reshaping the landscape of global economic governance

Balancing Economic Growth and Environmental Sustainability: A Data-Driven Analysis of Energy Consumption Patterns

Concerns have been raised regarding whether these transitions contribute to rising public debt. Understanding the fiscal implications of renewable energy adoption can help governments design financially sustainable policies while committing to environmental sustainability. This study will evaluate the long-term economic and environmental benefits of investing in renewable energy by analyzing the impact of labor force, carbon emission, and sustainability metrics on economic growth. Additionally, it will assess whether economic development predicts renewable adoption rates and disparities in energy access, as well as classify countries based on whether their transition to renewables correlates with increased public debt metrics. Other areas of focus include the long-term financial and environmental benefits of renewable energy over fossil fuels and whether such investments predict economic slowdowns. This study will utilize time series analysis, regression models, and hypothesis testing to examine historical energy consumption trends, economic growth's impact on renewable adoption, and gender disparities in energy access. Machine learning techniques such as clustering and predictive modeling will classify countries based on debt sustainability and forecast economic slowdowns linked to renewable investments. This methodology will be implemented with the use of structured and non-SQL databases for queries, and integrated development environments for coding in python. This comprehensive study seeks to uncover global energy consumption trends, economic growth's role in renewable energy adoption, and the financial and environmental trade-offs of sustainability using statistical analysis and machine learning. The findings will provide data-driven insights for policymakers and stakeholders to optimize energy policies while balancing economic development and environmental sustainability
Analysis of Economic Resilience, Social Equity, and Financial Systems Development: A World Bank Data Study
No full text[ABSTRACT ONLY; NO FULL TEXT] This study examines the complexities of interactions between economic resilience, social equity, and financial system development of the selected countries from 2021 to 2023. Regional economic integration continues to grow, yet economic resilience, social outcomes, and financial growth remain unequal. (1) Economic resilience elements and environmental indicators, (2) socioeconomic inequality drivers, and (3) financial market development's influence on social mobility are the research's main objectives. World Bank indicator data is analysed using multiple approaches. First, a custom Python data pipeline collects, converts, and loads World Bank development indicators, statistical performance measures, and quarterly public debt statistics into a normalized MySQL database with optimal indexing for multi-dimensional analysis. The analytical approach taken for the 3 research objectives: for Economic Resilience, Logistic Regression finds binary outcome patterns and classifies economies as resilient or vulnerable; for Social Equity, Ridge Regression addresses multicollinearity problems while Artificial Neural Networks capture complex non-linear relationships between socioeconomic variables; and for Financial Systems Development, Random Forest algorithms identify key drivers while Support Vector Machine classification creates optimal boundaries between development stages, with Principal Component Analysis applied across methods to reduce dimensionality and prevent overfitting in the complex financial datasets. This integrated approach allows for cross-sectional and temporal analysis of global economic growth. First, it will quantify how public debt patterns affect regional economic resilience and sustainability. Second, it will determine which financial inclusion criteria best predict income inequality reduction. Third, it will classify the economic zones by resilience-social equity-financial development. Fourth, it will provide policymakers ideas for economic integration policies that balance growth and social equality. Beyond these substantive contributions, the study's methodological breakthrough is its integrated analytical approach to World Bank data that connects economic, social, and financial dimensions. The database structure and analytical pipeline enable future regional economic evaluations
Professional Development That Builds Teacher Efficacy for Equitable Instruction: A Case Study
No full textTeacher efficacy is an educator's perceived ability to achieve successful student outcomes (Bandura, 1997; Rotter, 1966). Leadership/coaches/mentors of teachers utilizing professional development (PD) opportunities to focus on safe and equitable school structures, as well as teacher leadership, teaching practices, and most of all, how students learn (Hattie, 2023), will help build teacher efficacy (both self- and collective). Self-efficacy is one's judgment of their ability to execute strategies or actions in order to deal with a set of circumstances; and within a collective, these beliefs encompass coordinated, interactive, and collegiate actions of a group of individuals and their ability to effectively deal with specific tasks (Bandura, 2000; Wickes et al., 2013). The purpose of this qualitative case study is to determine if teachers believe their self- and collective-efficacy for equitable instruction was fostered through a year of PD provided by a TK-8 district in southern California. Based on theoretical frameworks of teacher efficacy, andragogy, and heutagogy, the literature review presents an overview of key features to be utilized within designing effective professional development (PD) to advance teacher efficacy for equitable instruction. Those features include understanding and utilization of frameworks of adult learning around andragogy and heutagogy, teacher efficacy, equitable instruction, professional learning communities (PLCs), and effective ways to assess and evaluate educator PD. Utilizing a case study methodology, the researcher gathered data through field notes, descriptive qualitative surveys, and teacher interviews.
