The COVID Vaccine Dashboard page was obtained from Michigan\u27s main COVID-19 page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/resources/covid-19-vaccine/covid-19-dashboard. First-dose tracker above is for entire Michigan Population. Coverage maps below are for age 5+. Previously reported numbers of administered vaccine doses may change as new data are received. A possible lag in reporting vaccine doses will result in increases in numbers previously reported. This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Division of Immunization from data reported to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR). The dashboard contained the tabs Primary Series Doses Administered, Primary Series Doses by Vaccine, Additional/Booster, Coverage, Age/Sex, Race/Ethnicity, Other, Enrolled Providers, and Learn More. The public use datasets contained the following downloadable Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx): COVID Vaccine Booster Coverage by County and Race, COVID Vaccine Additional/Booster Doses, Ethnicity-Race Coverage by County, COVID-19 Vaccines Delivered To Providers, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Since 11282021, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Between 05302021 And 11272021, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Till 05292021, COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage. It also contains Excel spreadsheets on vaccine orders per week (.xlsx): Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson

The K-12 Aged ISD Reporting page was obtained from Michigan\u27s COVID-19 data page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/stats/k-to-12-aged-isd-reporting. This report is created from data reported by the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS) the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services\u27 web-based communicable disease reporting system. Data is updated every week. The purpose of the dashboard is to report the 7 day average of COVID-19 cases in Michigan school students aged 5 through 18 at the intermediate school district and school district levels, as well as display trends over time to better illustrate the changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cases are attributed to an intermediate school district and school district if their listed ages are between 5-18 year and if heir listed address falls within the bounds of the shool district. Individuals who live in one district but attend a school in another, as well as students who attend private school or are homeschooled are not represented. The report contains two graphs: Michigan Intermediate School District COVID-19 Case Reporting (CLI) and Michigan School District COVID-19 Case Reporting. There is also a weekly public use dataset entitled K-12 Aged ISD Reporting

The Syndromic Surveillance System Data report was obtained from Michigan\u27s COVID-19 dashboard, from under the link Coronavirus Symptoms : https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/stats/coronavirus-symptoms. Data was compiled by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The information was updated twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Syndromic Surveillance System data is obtained from approximately 216 facilities participating in syndromic surveillance (139 Emergency Departments (ED), 77 Urgent Cares) across the State of Michigan. The reporting is based on individuals who present at EDs and may not be representative of the overall population. The coronavirus-like symptoms query searches visit free-text (chief complaint, triage notes, and clinical impression) for fever or chills AND cough or shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. The report contains four graphs. Under the Region subtab entitled Public Health Preparedness Region are the graphs Coronavirus-Like Illness (CLI) and COVID-19 Diagnosis. Under the Age subtab entitled Age Group are the graphs Coronavirus-Like Illness (CLI) and COVID-19 Diagnosis

Thermoplastic Material Selection and Barriers to Custom Orthotic Fabrication: A Survey of Occupational and Physical Therapists

    Get PDF
Background: There is limited literature regarding therapists’ selection of thermoplastic material since the 1990s and less is known about the challenges of custom orthotic fabrication. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was designed and distributed to members of the American Society of Hand Therapists in August 2021. The survey included closed-ended questions with option for free-text comments. Descriptive statistics and content analysis was used to analyze categorical data and free-text comments, respectively. Results: The responses of 333 therapists were included in the study. Drapability, thickness, and rigidity were the main properties the therapists considered when selecting thermoplastic material (82.9%; 75.7% and 64.9%, respectively). The free-text analysis revealed thermoplastic material selection to be contextual. Occupation of client, activity level, size of body part, climate, purpose of orthoses (mobilize or immobilize), and comorbidities were factors considered when selecting material. Barriers to custom orthotic fabrication were experienced by 79.9% of the therapists. Barriers related to insurance were experienced the most (46.2%) followed by client factors, (27.9%) and administrative factors (18.3%). Limited reimbursement, high patient cost, lack of materials, and time and client compliance were the cited challenges. Conclusions: Thermoplastic material selection is contextual. Therapists report custom orthotic fabrication to be challenging in the current health care environment

The Problematizing of Teen Pregnancy is a Feminist Issue

    Get PDF
Teen pregnancy has long been considered a social and moral problem in the United States. Politicians and community organizations have repeatedly attempted to ameliorate this social issue by enacting legislation and promoting educational campaigns for prevention. These campaigns and legislative measures mention the long-term consequences of bearing a child as a young woman, though they fail to discuss how and why teenage pregnancy became an American issue in the first place. While feminists critique public responses to motherhood and mothering, teen pregnancy is not necessarily seen as a feminist issue. The problematizing of teen pregnancy in American social history, however, is certainly a feminist issue. This article provides a social history of teen pregnancy in the United States, especially through welfare reform in the 1990s, and discusses how this continues to influence and marginalize youth today

Examining the Early Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Black/African American Adults

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed a disproportionate risk of the disease in communities of color. The present study explored the impact of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic on self-reported adaptation and coping, compared by the race of the respondent. Results from an anonymous, cross-sectional, online survey administered in June 2020 found that Black/African American adult respondents were less likely than non- Black/African American adult respondents to agree that they felt prepared for the COVID-19 outbreak; they were more likely than non- Black/African American adults to agree that they were personally affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, and more likely to have financial challenges as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The findings of this study reveal differences in experiences and adaptability of Black/African American adults as compared to non-Black/African American adults. This study provides important suggestions for developing and framing policies and interventions capable of addressing the needed services for Black/African American adults impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
