Evaluation of Soft Employability Skills in Students with Disabilities attending a Vocational Training Program

    Get PDF
The purpose of this capstone project was to create a customized assessment tool that evaluates soft employability skills and quantifiably measures progress made over time. This project was completed at the Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI). MCTI is a post-secondary vocational and technical training center for adults with disabilities. This project was completed as current literature regarding vocational rehabilitation evaluation and soft employability skills is underdeveloped and requires further research. Also, existing vocational rehabilitation assessments are heavily focused on an individual\u27s physical capabilities. Existing assessments that address soft skills also do not meet demands of MCTI and assessment customization was necessary. This topic is of importance for Occupational Therapy as soft skill challenges may limit an individual\u27s ability to achieve and maintain competitive employment and may therefore reduce occupational participation. The assessment content was guided by existing literature, working with, and observing MCTI students in their natural classroom environment, and through feedback from experienced clinicians. Descriptive inter-rater and test-retest reliability analyses were also completed after utilizing the assessment with MCTI students. Training videos were created, and additional sustainability measures were completed during the experience. Benefits, limitations, and future recommendations are also discussed within this project

Occupational Therapy\u27s Role in Medication Management with the Corewell Health System

    Get PDF
Gap: Corewell Health lacked a competency program to assess their occupational therapist ability to provide medication management services. The occupational therapist required an educational resource to support the use of the Pill-Box Test. Additional resources were needed to identify evidence-based interventions and documentation tips to aid with reimbursement of services. The patient education library required a resource to highlight strategies to support clients in reaching their medication management goals. Objective: To standardize practice of medication management services including evaluation, intervention, and documentation of outcomes for occupational therapy patients at Corewell health. Outcomes: The health system was equipped with a medication management focused annual competency assessment of their OTs ability to provide related services. The occupational therapists have an educational resource guiding administration and scoring of the Pill-Box Test. A resource is available providing examples of remediation and compensatory strategies to address common deficit areas impacting performance on the Pill-Box Test. A documentation guide is available sharing medication management goal examples, common procedural codes (CPT), and language from the occupational therapy practice framework to support reimbursement. A new patient education is available for all members of the care team to share with the client to support their medication management goals

The COVID Vaccine Dashboard page was obtained from Michigan\u27s main COVID-19 page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/resources/covid-19-vaccine/covid-19-dashboard. First-dose tracker above is for entire Michigan Population. Coverage maps below are for age 5+. Previously reported numbers of administered vaccine doses may change as new data are received. A possible lag in reporting vaccine doses will result in increases in numbers previously reported. This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Division of Immunization from data reported to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR). The dashboard contained the tabs Primary Series Doses Administered, Primary Series Doses by Vaccine, Additional/Booster, Coverage, Age/Sex, Race/Ethnicity, Other, Enrolled Providers, and Learn More. The public use datasets contained the following downloadable Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx): COVID Vaccine Booster Coverage by County and Race, COVID Vaccine Additional/Booster Doses, Ethnicity-Race Coverage by County, COVID-19 Vaccines Delivered To Providers, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Since 11282021, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Between 05302021 And 11272021, COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Till 05292021, COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage. It also contains Excel spreadsheets on vaccine orders per week (.xlsx): Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson

The Outbreak Data page was obtained from Michigan\u27s COVID-19 data page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/stats/outbreak-reporting. This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services from data self-reported by local health departments. Data is updated every week. COVID-19 outbreaks are generally defined as two or more cases with a link by place and time indicating a shared exposure outside of a household. Local health departments report the number of new and ongoing outbreaks they are investigating by the setting of the outbreak. New outbreaks are those outbreaks that were first identified during the current reporting week. Ongoing outbreaks are those that had already been identified in previous weeks but have had at least one new associated case reported to the local health department in the last 2 weeks. New and ongoing outbreaks are counted only once (i.e., a new outbreak is not also counted in the ongoing outbreak category). Many factors, including the lack of ability to conduct effective contact tracing in certain settings, may result in significant underreporting of outbreaks. This chart does not provide a complete picture of outbreaks in Michigan and the absence of identified outbreaks in a particular setting in no way provides evidence that, in fact, that setting is not having outbreaks. Contains the tables New Outbreaks by Setting and Ongoing Outbreaks by Setting

The K-12 Aged ISD Reporting page was obtained from Michigan\u27s COVID-19 data page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/stats/k-to-12-aged-isd-reporting. This report is created from data reported by the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS) the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services\u27 web-based communicable disease reporting system. Data is updated every week. The purpose of the dashboard is to report the 7 day average of COVID-19 cases in Michigan school students aged 5 through 18 at the intermediate school district and school district levels, as well as display trends over time to better illustrate the changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cases are attributed to an intermediate school district and school district if their listed ages are between 5-18 year and if heir listed address falls within the bounds of the shool district. Individuals who live in one district but attend a school in another, as well as students who attend private school or are homeschooled are not represented. The report contains two graphs: Michigan Intermediate School District COVID-19 Case Reporting (CLI) and Michigan School District COVID-19 Case Reporting. There is also a weekly public use dataset entitled K-12 Aged ISD Reporting
