Namoi dryland diffuse groundwater recharge
## **Abstract** \n\nThe dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.\n\n\n\nThis dataset is the estimation of groundwater recharge in the Namoi. It is uses the chloride mass balance method in the consolidated rock area and an empirical relationship betwenn soils, land use and climate in the alluvial areas.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThis dataset provides a long term average recharge rate for input to the groundwater modelling.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThis dataset is the estimation of groundwater recharge in the Namoi. It is uses the chloride mass balance method in the consolidated rock area and an empirical relationship betwenn soils, land use and climate in the alluvial areas. ## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.\n\nLocation of Arid Zone Rivers Flow Monitoring Sites. The ARIDFLO project was a multi- disciplinary research project into the environmental flow requirements of Australian arid zone rivers. Queensland Floodplain Assessment Overlay - Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA)
## **Abstract** \n\nThis data and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied. \n\n\n\nThe Queensland Floodplain Assessment Overlay (QFAO) represents a floodplain area within drainage sub-basins in Queensland. It has been developed for use by local governments as a potential flood hazard area. It represents an estimate of areas potentially at threat of inundation by flooding. The data has been developed through a process of drainage sub-basin analysis utilising data sources including 10 metre contours, historical flood records, vegetation and soils mapping and satellite imagery. This data represents an initial assessment and will be subject to refinement by respective Local Government Authorities.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nLineage statement:\n\nThe Queensland Floodplain Assessment Overlay has been captured by analysis and visual interpretation of a combination of datasets (listed below in Sources).\n\nProcess step:\n\n1. Identify and overview sub-basin with satellite imagery backdrop.2. Overlay ordered drainage and floodplain data.3. Analyse drainage lines within the basin to determine the drainage lines that are relevant. At a minimum drainage lines with order 1 and 2 are excluded unless known events have occurred.4. Having determined the approximate extent in terms of drainage line hierarchy, overlay the 10m contours, gauging stations and flood lines of actual events from 2011.5. Determine the approximate flood elevation at locations within the drainage basin using gauging station data and actual events, together with visual interpretation of the imagery and other layers.6. Delineate the extent of the floodplain by visually interpolating between known locations using the satellite imagery and contours as the guide.Flood extent line revised over the town of Mareeba in the Barron River Basin sub area on 17-10-2013.\n\nSource:\n\n1. 10m contours derived from 1 second SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography), photogrammetry and LiDAR. ## **Abstract** \n\nThe dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. This dataset was derived from multiple datasets. You can find a link to the parent datasets in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.\n\n\n\nThis dataset contains the allocation data for the Queensland part of the Clarence-Moreton Basin. The data were organized by geological formations. The data were sourced from the QLD state allocation database (GUID = 68bbd3fb-6e2a-4088-a3dd-55cc44c2f0d6). The data indicate that the Woogaroo Subgroup is being pumped most intensively. However, most bores in other major aquifers, such as the alluvium and Grafton Formation, have an allocation entry of zero in the state database. For example, 653 of 702 alluvial bores are assigned an allocation of zero in the database. One main reason for this is that no allocation is planned for most domestic and stock bores because they belong to the basic water right licence. Thus, this summary may not reflect the reality. Note that 'nominal entitlement per water year' was used instead of 'allocation' in the Queensland database. The rows with a zero entry have been removed in this version in order to create an allocation distribution map.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThis dataset was compiled through the following process:\n\n\n\n1. Filter the data using the spatial extent of the Clarence-Moreton Basin.\n\n\n\n2. Organize records by aquifers.\n\n\n\n3. Average monthly and average annual evaporation data - ARC
## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.\n\nMean monthly and mean annual evaporation grids.\n\nThe grids show evaporation values across Australia in the form of two-dimensional array data.\n\nThe mean data are based on all available stations with at least ten years of records between 1975 and 2005.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nTo demonstrate distribution of evaporation values over Arckaringa subregion.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nGridded data were generated using the Barnes 2-D meteorological analysis. Approximately 270 stations were used in the analysis. All input station data underwent a high degree of quality control before analysis. Most of the stations used in the analysis have at least 10 years of records, with at least 80% complete data over the recorded period. JK Aquifer - South Australia and Northern Territory - ARC
## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.\n\nThe extent of JK Aquifer SANT shapefile is one of a number of data files developed as part of the Australian Government funded research program entitled “Allocating Water and Maintaining Springs in the GAB”.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThe JK Aquifer in this instance represent all rocks interpreted and mapped as the stratigraphic units the Cadna-owie Formation (Knc) and the Algebuckina Sandstone (JK-a) as well as units mapped as a potentially being one of these formations (JK1).\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nDigital copies of seismic lines, around the western margins of the Eromanga Basin, were loaded into a Geoquest workstation for interpretation. Due to the sparcity of lines, lack of suitable ties and large distances between data sets, picks were mostly done by eye. These picks are simple and can be considered correct in the broad sense. Converting the two way time data from the Geoquest interpretation proved too erratic to be useful. Seismic time data was imported from Geoquest to Petrosys mapping system. In Petrosys, bore tops and outcrop elevations were gridded and contoured. The resulting contour maps were examined for realism and consistency and anomalous tops and areas were reviewed. This was an ongoing process. Geological trends from the seismic were incorporated, also known and inferred fault planes. An extensive series of edits and checks was undertaken until a satisfactory geological map was accomplished. National Forest and Sparse Woody Vegetation Data (Version 3, 2018 Release)
Landsat satellite imagery is used to derive woody vegetation extent products that discriminate between forest, sparse woody and non-woody land cover across a time series from 1988 to 2018. A forest is defined as woody vegetation with a minimum 20 per cent canopy cover, potentially reaching 2 metres high and a minimum area of 0.2 hectares. Sparse woody is defined as woody vegetation with a canopy cover between 5-19 per cent.\r\n\r\nThe three-class classification (forest, sparse woody and non-woody) supersedes the two class classification (forest and non-forest) from 2016. The new classification is produced using the same approach in terms of time series processing (conditional probability networks) as the two-class method, to detect woody vegetation cover.
