    ## **Abstract** \n\nThe dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement. \n\n\n\nColinlea_flow_direction: This dataset shows groundwater flow lines in the Colinlea Sandstone aquifer. The flow lines are drawn perpendicular to the corrected potentiometric contours of BC3. The flow direction is from a high to a lower potential. \n\n\n\nCz_flowDirection: This dataset shows groundwater flow lines in the unconsolidated Cenozoic aquifer of the eastern Galilee Basin for the Buchanan, Galilee and Jericho 1:250 000 sheets. The flow lines are drawn perpendicular to the potentiometric contours of the Cenozoic aquifers. The flow direction is from a high to a lower potential. Each groundwater flow line forms a boundary for the 19 flow elements. \n\n\n\nKlm_Kw_FlowDirections: This dataset shows groundwater flow lines in the Allaru Mudstone / Wallumbilla Formation (east) and Winton / Mackunda Formations (west). The flow lines are drawn perpendicular to the corrected potentiometric contours of Klu / Kw. The flow direction is from a high to a lower potential. \n\n\n\nRe_FlowDirections: This dataset shows groundwater flow lines in the Clematis / Warang Sandstone aquifers. The flow lines are drawn perpendicular to the corrected potentiometric contours of Re/Rlw. The flow direction is from a high to a lower potential.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nFlow direction shape files show the direction of water flow within the area of interest.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nColinlea_flow_direction: The BC3 flowlines show groundwater flow is towards the west in the central and western Galilee Basin and towards the east (Belyando River valley) in the eastern Galilee Basin on the Galilee 1:250 000 sheet. A prominent groundwater mound (recharge zone) is evident east of Blackall on the Jericho 1:250 000 sheet.\n\n\n\nCz_flowDirection: The extent of the unconsolidated Cenozoic aquifers of the eastern Galilee Basin was defined by tracing the area of occurrence of Cenozoic units mapped as "Qa", "Qs" and "Cz" on the 1:250 000 sheets. This methodology assumes hydraulic connection exists between all three units. Water levels were extracted from the QDNRM Groundwater database. No density corrections were done due to the shallowness of the bores (< 40 m around tributary streams, < 100 m in the Belyando River valley). Using Darcy's Law across the 19 flow elements in the Cz aquifer gives a total baseflow flux of 7950 ML/year.\n\n\n\nKlm_Kw_FlowDirections: The Klu/ Kw flowlines show groundwater flow is towards the west and southwest. Local groundwater mounds occur in the Klu / Kw watertable throughout the Galilee Basin. These are recharge mounds and occur where the saprolite has been eroded, generally on topographic highs.\n\n\n\nRe_FlowDirections: The Re/Rlw flowlines show groundwater flow is towards the west and southwest over most of the Galilee Basin. However a groundwater divide exists in the eastern Galilee Basin and flow on the eastern side of the divide is east towards the Belyando River valley.\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2015) GAL230 flow directions. ## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.\n\n\n\nThis dataset includes sun shaded representations of Cooper and Eromanga Basins formation thickness grids generated from seismic interpretation grids for various depths in the Cooper and Eromanga Basin areas in the north-east of South Australia, south-west northern territory, south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales.\n\n\n\nThese grids are part of a database of seismically mapped subsurface isopach, time and depth grids, contours, faults and polygons interpreted from Seismic mapping for the National Geoscience Mapping Accord (NGMA) Cooper and Eromanga Basins, Australia, Seismic Mapping Project.\n\n\n\nFull metadata for each grid can be viewed at: http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/minerals/sarig2/metadata/seismic_horizons_-_sun_shaded_timedepth_isopach_images/cooper\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nUsage\n\nPurpose:\n\n\n\nTo develop and promote new petroleum exploration and development opportunities in the Cooper and Eromanga Basins, Australia\n\n\n\nUse:\n\n\n\nGeological and prospectivity evaluation.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThese data were derived from well tops, seismic sections and some open file industry interpretations.\n\n\n\nInterpretations over the South Australian sector derived from basic seismic data, with some reference to open file industry and other data.\n\n\n\nInterpreted, compiled and edited by Brent Jensen-Schmidt, (consulting geophysicist), Don Vinall and many PIRSA staff.\n\n\n\nOverall supervision by Dave Cockshell, Chief Petroleum Geophysicist, Petroleum Geophysics Branch, OFFICE OF MINERALS AND ENERGY RESOURCES, PRIMARY INDUSTRIES AND RESOURCES, SOUTH AUSTRALIA.\n\n\n\nInterpretations over the Queensland sector compiled and edited by Kinta Hoffman with Owen Dickson and Julie Dingwall.\n\n\n\nOverall supervision by John Draper, Project Leader, Hydrocarbon Geology Group, Geological Survey Office, QUEENSLAND DEPARTMENT OF MINES AND ENERGY.\n\n\n\nInterpretations over the Northern Territory sector derived from basic seismic data, with some reference to open file industry and other data.\n\n\n\nInterpreted, compiled and edited by Brent Jensen-Schmidt, supported by PIRSA staff.\n\n\n\nOverall supervision by Greg Ambrose, Senior Petroleum Geologist, NORTHERN TERRITORY DEPARTMENT OF MINES.\n\n\n\nInterpretations over the New South Wales sector derived from borehole data provided by the NSW DEPARTMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES.\n\n\n\nInterpreted, compiled and edited by Brent Jensen-Schmidt, supported by PIRSA staff.\n\n\n\nMerging of data across state boundaries by Brent Jensen-Schmidt, and Don Vinall of PIRSA.\n\n\n\nCoordinated by Tony Hill, Acting Manager, Petroleum Geology Branch, OFFICE OF MINERALS AND ENERGY RESOURCES, PIRSA.\n\n\n\nPositional Accuracy:\n\n\n\nPixel size\n\n\n\nAttribute Accuracy:\n\n\n\nThe (P) to (Z) isopach accuracy is dependent on the Basement and Permian depth grids accuracies. Seismic interpretation of top Permian in the Cooper Basin area is reasonably straight forward. The interpreted depth value at wells that penetrate the Permian top used in the depth conversion is within 2 metres of the Permian well pick. Seismic interpretation of top Basement in the Eromanga Basin area is difficult. The interpreted depth value at wells that penetrate the Basement used in South Australia and Northern Territory is within 2 metres of the Basement well pick.\n\n\n\nLogical Consistency:\n\n\n\nHighly consistent\n\n\n\nCompleteness:\n\n\n\nComplete\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\n"SA Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy" (2003) National Geoscience Mapping Accord (NGMA) Cooper Eromanga Basins Project - Cooper Formation Depths. ## **Abstract** \n\nThe dataset was compiled by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple sources referenced within the dataset and/or metadata. The processes undertaken to compile this dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.\n\n\n\nNote: This version is an intermediate dataset and not directly used in any products - Version 1 has been superseded by Version 2 - see lineage. Version 2 is identical except for conductivity-upscaling data added.\n\n\n\nContains hydraulic property measurements sourced from literature that are relevant for the Hunter subregion. The data mainly concerns hydraulic conductivity, but some transmissivity, specific storage and porosity data are also listed.\n\n\n\nA total of 574 measurements are compiled in the "FullData" sheet which also lists (where available) the Bore/piezometer name, the formation name, the topography elevation, the minimum and maximum depth sampled in the test, the MGA56 East and North coordinates, the type of test, along with the results obtained.\n\n\n\nThe "Provenance" sheet lists the 21 publications from which these data were extracted. Mostly these are groundwater sections of mine Environmental Impact Statements.\n\n\n\nThe other sheets in this Excel file demonstrate some correlations, or lack of correlations, between the hydraulic properties and depth, stratigraphy and lithology.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThe data and correlations guide the uncertainty analysis of the Hunter subregion uncertainty analysis.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThe "Provenance" sheet within the Excel file contains a list of the publications from which the data was extracted. Only measurements in the publications that also contained data concerning all of the following were used: borehole or piezometer hole name; MGA East and North; depths or elevations; and formation name. Specification of the type of test was not mandatory but was recorded if available. The data was extracted by hand from the publications and typed into the "FullData" sheet within the Excel file.\n\n\n\nVersion 1 has been superseded - Version 2 is identical except that conductivity-upscaling data were added.\n\n\n\nThe source publications are as follows.\n\n\n\nAGE (2009) Mt Arthur Coal Consolidation Project Groundwater Impact Assessment, Project No. G1446, June 2009 (Appendix N of the Mt Arthur Coal Consolidation Project Environmental Impact Assessment).\n\n\n\nAGE (2012) Report on Drayton South Coal Project Groundwater Impact Assessment, Project No. G1544, October 2012 (Appendix C of the Drayton South Coal Project Gateway Application).\n\n\n\nAGE (2013) Continuation of Bengalla Mine Groundwater Impact Assessment, Project No. G1505, June 2013 (Appendix K of the Bengalla Continuation Project Environmental Impact Assessment).\n\n\n\nAGE (2014) Mount Thorley Operations 2014 Groundwater Assessment, Project No. G1468F, May 2014 (Appendix I of the Mt Throley Continuation Project Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nBHP Billiton (2012) MAC-ENC-PRO-062 Ground Water Monitoring Program, August 2012.\n\n\n\nBickham Coal Company (2009) Bickham Coal Project Water Resource Assessment and Draft Water Management Plan, Part B Water Resource Assessment, March 2009.\n\n\n\nAquaterra (2008) Bloomfield Colliery Completion of Mining and Rehability Groundwater Impact Assessment, S05/R02g, September 2008 (Appendix I of Bloomfield's Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nAquaterra (2009) Bowmans Creek Diversion: Groundwater Impact Assessment Report, S55G/600/011G, October 2009 (Appendix 5 of Ashton's Environmental Impact Statement)\n\n\n\nDouglas Partners (2013) Report on Hydrogeological Investigation and Monitoring, Project 49761.03-07, November 2013.\n\n\n\nGeoTerra (2009) Integra Opern Cut Project and Open Cut Extension Groundwater Assessment, GC13-R1E, June 2009 (Appendix C of Integra Open Cut Extension Environmental Impact Assessment).\n\n\n\nHydroSimulations (2013a) Spur Hill Underground Coking Coal Project: Gateway Aplication Preliminary Groundwater Assessment, Report HC2013/14, December 2013.\n\n\n\nHydroSimulations (2013b) Wilpinjong Coal Mine Modification Groundwater Assessment, Report HC2013/11, July 2013 (Appendix C of Wilpinjong Coal Modification 5 Environmental Impast ASssessment).\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2006) Anvill Hill Project: Groundwater Management Studies, May 2006 (Appendix 8 of the Anvil Hill Project Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2007) Mt Arthur Underground Project Environmental Assessment Groundwater Management Studies, September 2007 (Appendix 10 of the Mt Arthur Underground Environmental Assessment).\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2010) Carrington West Wing Modification Groundwater Assessment, March 2010 (Appendix C of Coal & Allied's Extension of Carrington Pit Environmental Assessment).\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2012) Ravensworth Underground Mine Assessment of Groundwater Impacts Associated with Modifications to Mining in the Liddell Seam, Report No. 605-080252/Rev5, March 2012 (Appendix L of Ravensworth's Environmental Impacts Statement)\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2013a) Assessment of Groundwater Related Impacts Arising From the Proposed Bulga Optimisation Project, Report No. 605-081507/Rev4, April 2013 (Appendix 11 of Bulga Optimisation Project Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nMackie Environmental Research (2013b) Wallarah 2 Coal Project Groundwater Impact Assessment, Report No. M7589/R6, February 2013 (Appendix I of Wallarah 2 Coal Project Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nRPS Aquaterra (2011) Moolarben Stage 2 PPR Groundwater Impact Assessment, S6/S6N/019h, November 2011 \n\n\n\nRPS Aquaterra (2012) Tasman Extension Project Groundwater Assessment, S35/600/040f, June 2012 (Appendix B of the Tasman Extension Project Environmental Impact Statement).\n\n\n\nSKM (2013) Liddell Coal Operations Modification 5 to Development Consent DA 305-11-01, April 2013\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2016) HUN Hydraulic properties v1. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement. \n\n\n\nThe dataset contains shapefiles of the the total combined foot prints of all polygons for each of Baseline, CRDP polygons, and the spatial difference between the two (i.e. ACRD). These shapefiles are used in the surface water modelling to define the spatial extent of the mine workings for the three scenarios.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nUsed only for report map display and area calculation purposes\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nPolygons from the source dataset were selected as follows:\n\n\n\nfor the total surface water modelling baseline footprint polygons were selected where SW_BL - 'yes'.\n\n\n\nfor the CRDP footprint polygons were selected where any of SW_BL, SW_CRDP or SW_ACRD = "yes"\n\n\n\nThe Baseline total footprint was removed (ERASE command) from the CRDP total footprint to create a ACRD total footprint.\n\n\n\nRespective selections were dissolved to obtain overall total footprints.\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2016) HUN SW modelling total mine footprint v01. ## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied. \n\n\n\n"This image was taken from the report - The West Gippsland Salinity Management Plan - 2005 which addresses salinity in the West Gippsland region over a 5 year period. The plan details a package of management actions to reduce and prevent the effect of salinity on the region's assets. The plan also details a time frame for adoption, cost sharing arrangements and roles and responsibilities for implementation. The plan was an initiative of the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority as part of its regional natural resource management program. This plan builds on and updates the existing Lake Wellington Catchment Salinity Management Plan (1993) and the draft South Gippsland Salinity Strategy (2000). The West Gippsland Salinity Management Plan was written by Sinclair Knight Merz on behalf of the West Gippsland CMA. \n\n\n\nThe image is from section 2.1 Salinisation caused by land clearing and irrigation and illustrates the interpreted watertable depth (2002).\n\n\n\nhttp://vro.agriculture.vic.gov.au/dpi/vro/wgregn.nsf/pages/wg_lwm_wg_sal_mgt"\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nExtract from the report. \n\n\n\nDepth to water table is a useful parameter for determining the areas either currently salinised or at risk of becoming salinised. Figure 5 shows the current depth to water table across the region compiled from observation bore data and topographic information. The reliability of the map is highly variable depending on the density of bore information (Figure 5 inset). The highest reliability occurs in the Macalister Irrigation District and surrounds where there are more than 300 observation bores monitored on a monthly basis. However, Salinity Management Areas such as Trafalgar have very few observation bores with a consequent low reliability of depth to water table mapping. Depth to water table is the primary factor in determining salinity risk, although there are other factors such as groundwater salinity, degree of flushing and rainfall. The depth to water table map corresponds well with the mapped saline areas.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThe West Gippsland Salinity Management Plan was written by Sinclair Knight Merz on behalf of the West Gippsland CMA.\n\n\n\nhttp://vro.agriculture.vic.gov.au/dpi/vro/wgregn.nsf/pages/wg_lwm_wg_sal_mgt\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nVictorian Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (2005) WGSMP Chapter 2.1 image.
