    Low Moisture Extrusion Dataset for Six Plant Protein Isolates and Binary Blends in Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) Production

    This collection contains experimental data generated from a comparative study of six commercially relevant plant protein ingredients (soy, pea, chickpea, faba bean, lentil, and mung bean) processed via low moisture extrusion for dry textured vegetable protein (TVP) production.\n\nThe dataset includes ingredient characterisation (RVA pasting behaviour, colour, water absorption capacity), extrusion process conditions (feed rate, screw speed, water flowrate, in-barrel moisture content), and extrudate properties (bulk and apparent density, expansion ratio, porosity, water holding capacity, colour, and texture).\n\nBinary 50:50 protein blends were also evaluated across multiple moisture levels to examine formulation–process interactions.\n\nThe data were produced to support systematic comparison of protein-specific extrusion behaviour and to inform formulation-specific process optimisation strategies in plant-based meat analogue development. The dataset enables reuse for comparative analysis, modelling, meta-analysis, and process optimisation studies in food extrusion research.\nLineage: Data were generated through pilot-scale twin-screw extrusion trials conducted at the CSIRO Food Innovation Centre (Werribee, Victoria, Australia) using a Clextral Evolum 32 co-rotating twin-screw extruder.\n\nSix commercial protein ingredients were first evaluated individually to determine feasible and stable extrusion conditions capable of producing acceptable dry TVP structures. Processing parameters (feed rate, screw speed, water flowrate, barrel temperature profile) were adjusted per protein to define protein-specific processing windows.\n\nSubsequently, 50:50 binary blends were extruded across a controlled range of in-barrel moisture contents under a standardised temperature profile.\n\nIngredient characterisation included:\n\nRapid Visco Analysis (RVA) pasting properties\n\nWater absorption capacity (centrifugation method)\n\nColour (CIELAB measurements)\n\nExtrudate characterisation included:\n\nBulk, apparent, and true density\n\nPorosity (derived from density measurements)\n\nExpansion ratio\n\nWater holding capacity\n\nTexture profile analysis (double compression test)\n\nReplicates were performed for ingredient and extrudate measurements as described in the associated publication.\n\nThis collection corresponds to the dataset supporting the manuscript:\n“Blending plant proteins for low moisture extrusion: implications for formulation-specific process optimisation.&#8221

    This collection is a set of images of specimens held at the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC). The ANIC is a critical and authoritative resource for systematics, evolutionary biology, ecology, natural resource management, biosecurity and biogeography. It is the world's largest collection of Australian insects and other invertebrates such as mites, spiders, nematodes and centipedes, housing over 12 million specimens.\n\nThe Australian National Insect Collection is used by Australian and international researchers, industry, government and university students. It grows by more than 100,000 specimens each year.\n\n Significant funding for ANIC curation and research activities has been provided by:\n\n - Australian Biological Resources Study\n - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry\n - The Grains Research and Development Corporation.\n\nThe Elwood and Hannah Zimmerman Research Fund Trust and the Schlinger Foundation have created endowments for ANIC that support research in weevils (Curculionoidea) and flies (Diptera) respectively. The Australian Lepidoptera Research Endowment also supports the ANIC by funding projects that enhance the curation of the Lepidoptera collection.\nLineage: This dataset is one of a series holding images from the Australian National Insect Collection.     Parkes observations for project P595 semester 2025OCTS_25

    We propose to continue the PULSE@Parkes project in which high school students from Australia and around the World use the Parkes radio telescope in a remote observing model to observe and analyse pulsar data. The data from some PULSE@Parkes observations are used to support the space missions, other observations supplement the P456 Pulsar Timing Array project and the remainder were chosen in order to make a detailed analysis of pulsar timing irregularities and intermittency

    Parkes observations for project P1165 semester 2025OCTS_05

    We recently discovered two new pulsars J1849+1001 (35.1 ms) and J1839+0543 (57.9 ms) in a FAST pulsar survey at intermediate Galactic latitudes (PT2020_0141). Follow-up timing observations show that they are in circular orbits with massive companions. This suggests that PSR J1849+1001 and J1839+0543 can be classified as the intermediate-mass binary pulsar (IMBP). Their massive companions also make them promising systems to measure "Post-Keplerian" parameters through pulsar timing. These Parkes observations will be combined with regular timing observations with FAST or MeerKAT to measure "Post-Keplerian" parameters and then measure both neutron star and companion masses
