Sedimentary and ore-forming characteristics of uranium mineralization in the Shizigou formation from the Southwest Qaidam Basin, Northwest China
The sandstone-type uranium deposits are the dominant source of uranium in China. The Qaidam Basin, the largest inland sedimentary basin from the Chinese northern Tibetan Plateau, is shaped by various tectonic processes from the surrounding East Kunlun, Altyn, and Qilian orogenic belts, and is characterized by uranium mineralization and enrichment of petroleum. The Shizigou Formation is identified as one of the U-bearing strata in the Qigequan area. We present a case study at the Qigequan area in the southwestern edge of the Qaidam Basin, to investigate the governing factors for anomalous uranium enrichment in this stratum. U-Pb dating of detrital zircon from sandstones of the Shizigou Formation reveales two age peaks at 450 Ma and 260 Ma, respectively. The zircon CL images suggest that the majority of zircon grains assessed are magmatic origin, though some show complex core-rim texture, irregular shape core with overgrowth domains, patched zoning and sector zoning, indicating a metamorphic origin. The bimodal age distribution, textures, and REE distribution of the selected detrital zircon grains all indicate that the sedimentary source of the Shizigou Formation originated from the Qimantagh area (East Kunlun). The paleoclimate proxies, namely the Sr/Cu, Sr/Ba, V/Sc, V/Cr, and Fe3+/Fe2+ values, combined with the chemical index of alteration (CIA) and index of compositional variation (ICV) reveal that the Shizigou Formation was formed in a relatively arid and oxidized environment that suffered a low degree of chemical weathering, which provides condition for the transportation of U-bearing ore-forming fluids. The escaping organic matters in the underlying strata act as reducing materials that control the precipitation of uranium-complexes in ore-forming fluids. On the other hand, the surrounding strata containing the source rocks and hydrocarbon make an effective barrier for the uranium orebodies to be preserved. Patterns, advances, and gaps in using ChatGPT and similar technologies in nursing education: A PAGER scoping review
Background and aim: Generative AI (GenAI) can transform nursing education and modernise content delivery. However, the rapid integration of these tools has raised concerns about academic integrity and teaching quality. Previous reviews have either looked broadly at artificial intelligence or focused narrowly on single tools like ChatGPT. This scoping review uses a structured framework to identify patterns, advances, gaps, evidence, and recommendations for implementing GenAI in nursing education. Methods: This scoping review followed the JBI methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. We searched PubMed, CINAHL, SCOPUS, ERIC, and grey literature (October to November 2024). Data synthesis utilised the PAGER framework as a mapping tool to organise and describe patterns, advances, gaps, evidence for practice, and recommendations. Results: Analysis of 107 studies revealed GenAI implementation across four key domains: assessment and evaluation, clinical simulation, educational content development, and faculty/student support. Three distinct implementation patterns emerged: restrictive, integrative, and hybrid approaches, with hybrid models demonstrating superior adoption outcomes. Technical advances showed significant improvement from GPT-3.5 (75.3 % accuracy) to GPT-4 (88.67 % accuracy) in NCLEX-style assessments, with enhanced capabilities in multilingual assessment, clinical scenario generation, and adaptive content creation. Major gaps included limited methodological rigour (29.0 % of empirical studies), inconsistent quality control, verification challenges, equity concerns, and inadequate faculty training. Geographic distribution showed North American (42.1 %) and Asian (29.9 %) dominance, with ChatGPT representing 83.2 % of tool implementations. Key recommendations include developing institutional policies, establishing quality verification protocols, enhancing faculty training programs, and addressing digital equity concerns to optimise GenAI integration in nursing education. Conclusions: GenAI has transformative potential in nursing education. To realise its full potential and ensure responsible use, research should focus on developing standardised governance frameworks, empirically validating outcomes, developing faculty in AI literacy, and improving technical infrastructure for low-income contexts. Such efforts should involve international collaboration, highlighting the importance of the audience's role in the global healthcare community
Connecting patients with clinical trials using patient navigation: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Interventions are needed to increase participation in clinical trials through optimised trial design and enrolment workflows. Patient navigation is a promising intervention for increasing participation in clinical trials by optimising enrolment workflows. Patient navigation is defined as a personalised intervention aimed at overcoming barriers and ensuring timely access to healthcare services, diagnosis, treatment and care. This scoping review aims to fill a gap in current literature by summarising what is known about patient navigation, aiming to increase clinical trial participation. Methods and analysis A search was conducted for peer-reviewed literature published in English from inception through 21 December 2023, and the search was updated on 5 March 2025. Sources of literature included Cochrane CENTRAL (Ovid), MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health (CINAHL; on EBSCOhost; EBSCO Industries, Inc), Epistemonikos and PROSPERO databases. Searches were also conducted through the Turning Research into Practice and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (WHO) databases, Google Scholar and the Agency for Health Research and Quality platform to ensure the retrieval of all relevant articles. Reference lists of eligible studies were also examined. The Google Scholar search was limited to the first 10 pages of results. The search strategy focused on the following key concepts: navigation (eg, navigator, care coordination, case management) and clinical trials. Searches were reviewed using the PRESS Peer Review of Electronic Search Strategies 2015. This review was guided based on the JBI methodology for scoping reviews using a five-step review process: identify the research questions; search and identify relevant studies; select studies based on a priori criterion; chart the data; and collate, summarise and report the results according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping reviews. Ethics and dissemination This scoping review identifies and analyses existing research; therefore, ethics approval is not required. Findings will be disseminated through conference presentations and a publication in a scientific journal

Green Video Transcoding in Cloud Environments Using Kubernetes: A Framework With Dynamic Renewable Energy Allocation and Priority Scheduling
Video content continues to be a major source of Internet traffic, with a growing demand for high-quality, on-demand videos. This leads to significant energy consumption across cloud servers. Conserving energy and improving energy efficiency in cloud servers is a major challenge. The growing demand for video transcoding services and increasing concerns over energy consumption necessitate systems that balance processing power with energy usage. The research addresses these challenges by developing a green, energy-aware video transcoding system that predicts energy availability from renewable sources (solar and wind) using machine learning techniques and optimizes tasks allocation. The system utilizes a Kubernetes-managed backend to dynamically scale resources for FFmpeg-based transcoding while prioritizing renewable energy, minimizing grid usage utilizing the advanced machine learning models, including Random Forest, XGBoost, and CatBoost, predict energy production and guide task assignments. The integration of predictive analytics with Kubernetes’ Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) allows dynamic workload distribution, ensuring optimal energy utilization. Additionally, the system incorporates real-time energy monitoring to adjust task scheduling based on fluctuations in renewable energy availability. Two novel scheduling algorithms, Dynamic Renewable Energy Allocation (DREA) and Energy-Aware Priority Scheduling (EAPS), enhance energy efficiency. DREA allocates tasks to energy zones based on real-time renewable availability, while EAPS prioritizes tasks by urgency and energy needs, deferring low-priority tasks to periods of high renewable availability. These green strategies minimize reliance on non-renewable sources while maintaining performance and scalability. The system’s modular design allows easy integration with various cloud platforms, increasing its applicability in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, extensive scalability tests demonstrate that the proposed approach maintains efficient task execution even under high workloads, making it suitable for large-scale cloud environments. By reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint, this framework contributes to the advancement of sustainable cloud computing solutions
Spatiotemporal structure of SARS-CoV-2 mutational frequencies in wastewater samples from Ontario
Starting October 2021, the Ontario wastewater surveillance initiative has used next-generation sequencing (NGS) to monitor SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater samples. The fragmented and heterogeneous nature of these data precludes using comparative methods that require full-length genome sequences. In this study, we investigate the utility of the inner product of the vectors of mutation frequencies to quantify the temporal and spatial structure of these data. Raw sequence data were trimmed and mapped to the SARS-CoV-2 reference genome to extract mutation frequencies and coverage statistics. These data were filtered for samples with incomplete metadata, positions with insufficient coverage (> 100 reads), or mutations with frequencies below 1%. For every pair of samples, we calculated the inner product of the respective mutation frequency vectors, and normalized the result to obtain a cosine distance. In total, we processed 1,619 samples from October 2021 to June 2023. The average depth was 7,693 reads, with mean coverage of 24,853 nt. A total of 241,078 mutations were detected in these samples. We restricted our analysis to 20 consecutive months with samples from at least one health region per month. A projection of the resulting cosine distance matrix revealed substantial temporal structure largely driven by the rapid spread of variants of concern. Genetic similarity, as quantified by the normalized dot product of mutation frequencies, was significantly negatively correlated with the geographic distance between sampling locations. These results suggest that spatial differentiation in the genomic variation of SARS-CoV-2 among wastewater samples can be measured, even at the relatively small scale of a single province.Government of OntarioCanadian Institutes of Health Research (Award: PJT-183832
Emotion-Focused Therapy for Personality Disorders: A Proof of Concept
The current synthesis elaborates the principles of working with emotion in psychotherapy with personality disorders. We start with arguing that personality disorders are actually emotional disorders – in addition to interaction problems –, where the roots of the clinical presentations are to be found in the client’s emotional system. We then put forward a theory of change in clients with personality disorders, by using a multi-level conception of emotional change. Specifically, we define five clusters of emotional experiences that are of primary concern in clients with personality disorders. We elaborate on the role of the therapeutic relationship in the context of working with emotions with personality disorders. The main part of the paper lays out three specific treatment goals and ten emotion-focused therapeutic skills and methods to address in psychotherapy for personality disorders. Finally, our synthesis ends with specific clinical adaptations of an emotion-focused therapy for clients with personality disorders.University of Lausann
